Anybody out there disappointed with playoffs after being top and pre international form?
Pre international break we were the form team in Europe. Real, Barca, city, gooners, Munich, psg. Eat our dust.
After
Crap.
Gotta disappoint right?

Thanks Dilli, just had a quick read through your article and will return to it later this evening - guys it is an excellent piece of work and I would thoroughly recommend it to all of you.

Interesting post Dill

I feel signing a goal scoring multiple assist CAM/ AM playmaker is probably the most important signing Leeds need to make (be it for EPL or EFL)

The one AM that Dill recommended is as he says likely bound for top club.

When they say 'stranger things have happened' - does that extend to Huddersfield Town beating Ipswich Town on Saturday?

Agree1 0Disagree

01 May 2024 13:28:25
Yes. It means hudds and Southampton winning.
Now that would be strange.

So exactly where do owners make money when clubs are showing huge losses every year, .

Firstly losses can be useful to owners with other income streams offsetting possible tax liabilities.

Secondly the clubs are a great cash flow producer and expenses within the club can be easily clouded - just one example is that in Radz last year admin costs increased by over 70 million, the owners constantly have there hand in the cookie jar. It is legal and they own the business so nowt anyone can do about it.

Agree0 0Disagree

01 May 2024 15:39:47
Owners taking money out means losses. Pay yourself a huge salary. Companies extract money out in fees and wages to make a loss. Loss naming businesses don't pay tax.

A well run business is one that pays its owners well and doesn't pay tax. sadly.

Since 1973 this football club as lost every final or semi-final and playoffs that's around 14 consecutive matches absolutely abysmal return zero success this is just cups and playoffs not the League.

Agree0 0Disagree

01 May 2024 12:32:35
Not good of course
But 73 and 75 they were cheated by bent corrupt refs who later eere banned

Playoffs record
1987 a bit unlucky but also choked
2006 abysmally outplayed
2008 abysmal
2010 abysmal
2019 abysmal choking plus a clown gk in Kiko.

01 May 2024 14:30:19
How do you lose a final if you lost the semi-final?

Agree0 0Disagree

01 May 2024 14:44:28
Brockers one assumes Gelderd is referring to lost semi finals of FACup/ League Cup in years 1977, 78, 79, 87, etc.

Now, I know its difficult because so much rests on it, but the thing with the playoffs is you Have to play without fear. If you do what you fear Will happen, you will be beaten before you take the field. Be brave, fortune favours it. This ain't doing me heart failure much good! šŸ˜†.

Vid I have been singing this song for how long now! We have been starting 2 defensive midfielders all season who can't score. You wonder why we are in this situation. Tactics have to change in the Playoffs, If not it will be an early exit.

Agree0 0Disagree

01 May 2024 11:43:41
Hooksie problem is Leeds don't really have any genuinely creative midfielders nor who score any goals . recruitment last summer and in Jan not good enough . SF49ers are culpable too

And if Leeds had signed Keiffer Moore in Jan. instead of Ipswich. well.

Now there was a time in a distant pass when a club who supposedly had nothing to play for would be encouraged to play to their maximum as a mysterious secret benefactor let's say for example from the West Coast of the USA has promised the players of said team that if they win their final league game away from home each player will be amply
rewarded. Those were the days!

Dropped points to Birmingham, Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Stoke, Preston, Blackburn, QPR. and Rotherham. not promotion form no good beating the two promoted teams and dropping points to three relegated teams. not very confident going into the playoffs confidence must be very low.

Bottom line Leeds and Southampton beaten to top 2 by last season L1 Ipswich

Leeds simply must redeem this failure by winning playoffs

So far proportion of blame imo

Farke 60%
Players 39%
Ani 1%.

Forever and ever and ever, in fact I reckon weā€™ll be stuck in the Championship not sixteen years this time but thirty two years. In fact weā€™ll all probably be dead by the time Leeds get back to the Premiership again.
Oh well never mind, letā€™s all have a cuppa tea and pretend we donā€™t exist, itā€™s much better that way.

Agree2 0Disagree

01 May 2024 10:20:07
Absolute nonsense Alf . previous league entirely relevant
Top of the league
Leicester 1st, Leeds 3rd, Southampton 4th with their parachute payments, squads full of Ā£30 million plus players and high wages no surprise

Last years L1 teams Sheff Wed and Plymouth struggled. all season in bottom 6 . no surprise

Ipswich finishing ahead of Leeds and Saints

spending around Ā£5 million in transfers

and with a fraction of Leeds United sqtad transfer fees and wages is an embarrassement to both former EPL clubs.

Ipswich if they do get promoted which seems very likely now will make a lot of money arriving in the Premiership. But it is also more than likely that they will be relegated after one or two seasons.
It is very hard for Championship clubs to get promoted, but it is even harder for promoted Championship clubs to remain in the Premiership for more than a season or two, especially now with FFP tightening its knot.
Forest are a prime example of their spend, spend, spend policy to try and survive.
I donā€™t think McKennaā€™s tactical nous or luck whichever it is will help him either, this is just a fact in top tier professional football these days.

I fully expect to be waving at Ipswich as we get promoted next season (if we donā€™t win play offs) as they descend back into the Championship.

Agree1 0Disagree

01 May 2024 10:46:41
Clearly not relevant though Baz as Ipswich on course to finish second. Can't argue with the league (although i'm sure you would) and they are where they are on merit. Otherwise why bother playing games? Not the first team to achieve back to back promotions and won't be the last. What is relevant is form and results and THIS season they have outperformed nearly everyone.

Agree1 0Disagree

01 May 2024 10:52:53
It was a joke Baz šŸ¤Ŗ

It doesnā€™t matter as Ipswich after their season in the sun will be relegated the following season, if they go up.
Their squad even with new players will be ripped to shreds in the Premiership.

Unless you think they are a top six club Baz šŸ˜‰.

Alf . yes Ipswich have outperformed Leeds and Southampton. puts into perspective Farke and Martin weaknesses.

For over 50 years Leeds teams have performed poorly late in the season. From the Revie era right up to this year this is true. Why?
I have my own views on the common thread but I'm very interested in other posters' opinions.

Agree0 0Disagree

01 May 2024 00:33:40
Hmm don't recall Revie teams performing particularly badly late on in league especially

The 1972/ 73 season though yes ended badly with defeat in FACup final and European Cup winners final. but we were cheated by a corrupt bent ref in the latter . who was later banned by UEFA.

Agree0 0Disagree

01 May 2024 07:01:08
Revie teams lost way more than they won and massively underachieved with the squad they had. The original bottlers.

Agree0 0Disagree

01 May 2024 12:37:38
Cuppa he won 2 . he came 2nd many times yes . dodgy Leeds hating refs and FA didn't help ( you should know that from your and Berma bleatings this season about refs)

30 Apr 2024 22:55:27
If Farke rests players on Saturday he should be sacked.
Granted itā€™s 1% chance Huddersfield win but itā€™s still a possibility.
Scenario. Huddersfield score from a corner early on and then score a 25 yard scorcher. Probably wonā€™t happen but football can be that way.
We have to play our best team even to gain the possibility of a good result and gained confidence.
As Lenny Kravitz saidā€¦.
