For a start there's no defensive midfielder, and Bobby Charlton was a midfielder who always played with a striker in front of him and a defensive midfielder behind.

Neville and Cole (and Hansen for that matter) ?
What about Cohen, Wilson, Pearce, McGrain, John Charles or Dave Mackay?

Midfield - Bremner for Gerrard everyday of the week! Duncan Edwards as a holding midfielder, and why pick Bale ahead of Giggs?

Upfront - you need an out and out goalscorer, Lineker or Greavsie?

No leeds game kills me, roll on next friday.
Apparently james and soloman close to fitness and possibly available?
If james is fit, think i'd start him and soloman on bench, would like to see different line up and my team would be as follows.

Can gnoto possibly play that #10 role, getting ball and creating, not sure but like to see it tried over Aaronson, still feel we need to invest in CMF and striker in Jan.

Even with all the injuries a potential squad of:
Meslier; Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Firpo; Tanaka, Rothwell; Gnonto, Aaronson, Ramazani; Joseph. Is not so bad. Although even with his two goals, Aaronson is still the weakest link for me. He has fluffed a host of goal bound opportunities of late and he needs to do better. Running around in circles looking busy is not enough for me.

Adequate first half. Looking ok.
Valencia not one pre season so no big opponents. Look disinterested to me.
Leeds doing ok. All playing well enough first half. No qualms with this lineup starting v Portsmouth.
Bit nervous re Bambi on bench.

Hope to see a 343 (3421) today. The more I think about the players we have at our disposal, the more that formation makes sense, to me.

It gives us a solid backline, allows our lesser defenders to attack more and give width up the pitch, Ampadu to orchestrate from deeper, Gnonto and Rutter to play in between the lines and half spaces with freedom, and Joseph having them close by will help him get on the end of opportunities created more centrally.

Of course we always want more than we have, and I’m fairly confident there will be some further additions before the window closes.

Leeds live featured Saturdays friendly with a possible starting line up of;

Meslier; Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Firpo; Ampadu, Rothwell; James, Rutter, Gnonto; Joseph.

That still leaves, Wober, Piroe, Gruyev Joffy Byram, Aaronson etc and I would agree we still need reinforcements, but get off to a good start this season and it’s looking a strong team to beat.

Still think Willy and Wober may yet be sold but based on my previous hunches they’re certain to stay.

We need a couple or three but the right couple of three but the right sort, real team mates, not diva badge kissers.

So looking at the squad of what we have at the moment - I still expect summerville to go and still not sure about the future of wober and Rasmus .
