We always have difficulty playing teams who park up and drag back or bring down anyone who looks likely to be through.
They can do this because they know our corners or free kicks are easily dealt with, and of course refs are lenient, even with blatant penalty calls.
Don't blame them, its the best tactic to get a result.

Indeed Whitesee. Our lowest expected goals are both the games against Sunderland.

Our Free-kicks and Corner routines are really poor and have been for a long time. When I am at the game and we "win" a corner it always amuses me that the crowd goes all vocal and excited as if there is any real prospect of goal. I would hazard a guess that we have scored the least goals directly from a corner.

When was the last time, a Leeds player stood over a direct free-kick that any fan had any confidence would score for us; it's been a long time.

Raph and esp King Pablo free kick masters

DJ started looking quite good on free kicks pre International break

Maybe that Amari guy might have been good on free kicks

George was right about the scoreline nil nil and imo Cressy goals

Still think we have missed out on a potential load of Cressy headed goals from set pieces.

Last night I called in to my mates to watch the match, Steve whose house it was is an Everton supporter, while Tony and Andy are Man Utd fans, the odd one out was Gregg who is a Birmingham fan. Now then, Man Utd, Everton, Birmingham, my god do they all have major problems going on! Everton by far the most worrying as relegation is hanging round their neck, so 4 hours of banter and football talk, absolute heaven, but even though those supporters did not slate their team or manager, Everton l’s board came in for scrutiny and Ten Hagg was mentioned twice, while Birmingham, well that speaks for itself eh! lol. My point is they all have worse issues than us, in fact lots worse than us, so why is it negative from some posters on here and not constructive criticism? Why is the negativity aimed so intentionally at some posters? This is one of our best seasons for four years, and may I add a lot better than a lot of other teams out there!

{Ed025's Note - well certainly Everton Woody..

Woody mate perhaps they don’t have ambition like Leeds fans and perhaps they are happy with there team perhaps they don’t have quality sitting on there bench week in week out and a manager who brings on players who should have been on at the start not give them less then 10 minutes to work miracles perhaps we are more passionate about our team because we seem to have crap referees week in week out who knows.

Woody perhaps to mate we play by the rules when others don’t and try to blame c.v. and when we don’t we get 25 points deduction with no right to appeal to get it reduced that why they all all happy perhaps.

You make some good points Whiteman and I respect that, but maybe just missing the point that I’m getting at. We are 2nd, after 3 seasons of doing nothing, we have lots to cheer about and get excited about, last three game 2 draws one loss after an amazing run. Just one point I would like to say is that when we beat Millwall before the international break everything was great! So maybe not all DF’s fault! Wales got beat, Finland got beat, we had 3 injuries from it and a few players with their heads down after defeat! It’s not all DF’s fault and it’s also down to the players mate, but good post. ?.

Ani you beat me to the point about corners and free kicks, but I have posted about this previously. We had 13 corners last night and I think it was 9 corners against Coventry on Saturday, and apart from the penalty appeal where Rodon was getting his shirt pulled and the handball incident in last night’s game, we haven’t threatened the opposition at all. Can someone tell me, do we have a set piece coach?! I know it’s a ridiculous question, but I have to ask it.
Also our shooting in general is woeful. Summerville seems to be our only player who can kick the ball cleanly. What do they do every day in training?

If we have a set piece coach, he must be on sick leave. Every element of our set play is really 2nd rate. From goal kicks to throw-ins, zero threat. Even last night as the game was nearing the end, we had a series of free-kicks and we were toothless with them. We didn’t even have the composure to hoof it up field and put it into the mixer.

On the other side, we have the most goals from open play and remarkably conceded the least from open play.

C&J Gnonto can hit the ball clean.

Gruev is also very handy with dead ball shots. Has only been allowed to take one, I believe?

Not sure about that George. 6 minutes of added time, and it’s the 96th minute against Coventry on Saturday we got a corner, everyone up, including meslier (not really sure why he bothered) and little Willy couldn’t get it passed the first man on the post. Whereas Summerville is normally consistent on kicking the ball cleanly. I sometimes think Rutter has on welders boots with some of his efforts on goal. Watch this, he’s a cert to lash in a 30 yarder against Blackburn on Saturday now!
