Being linked with polish bart.
Goalkeeper who can't get a start in a team in 19th place.
This one is getting me excited.
Owners clearly showing their ambition levels.

At last. Ryan has handed in a transfer request.
But. Alas. Too late.
I'd rather firpo on the wing.

Gotta be happy with the table now.
100% in our own hands.
Still a long way to go.
Bit by bit things are going our way for once?
Ipswich still a puzzle though and saints wobble I didn't see coming.

1.) 21 Feb 2024 01:47:18
You had Ipswich about 10th by now did you not Aus?

2.) 21 Feb 2024 06:57:47
What’s your point baz?

3.) 21 Feb 2024 07:19:40
Aus : That little ole Ipswich continue proving so many doubters/ critics wrong ; still in top 3.

4.) 21 Feb 2024 09:58:35
Baz, I don't think there are any doubters re Ipswich; I argue and continue to argue that they won't make second, as do you. The difference being that I forecasted that when they were potentially 12 points ahead of us coming into the game at Elland Road. anyhow, it's a little immaterial now, given what has actually happened / is happening. I accept you forecasted them as 3rd at the beginning of the season [on what basis at that time is anyone's guess / probably yours as well! ]

The season is developing in a very interesting way. Leeds and [particularly] Southampton, made poor starts, whereas both Leicester both had incredible starts.

Did we have our "wobble" in December - let's hope so!
No doubt, Ipswich have had their wobble late December / January, and whilst they are getting back to form, they still ship a lot of goals.

Are Southampton and maybe Leicester about to have theirs?

Obviously, it is imperative that we build on the recent misfortune of our competitors this Friday.

5.) 21 Feb 2024 10:07:09
Ipswich will fade away in April, they’ve got much tougher opponents to play. Struggling to beat bottom of the league Rotherham doesn’t convince me at all. I still think the last few games will be a battle between Leeds, Southampton and yes Leicester!

6.) 21 Feb 2024 10:51:20
Ani I like your summary build up to the crux end of season. a bit like the back cover of a novel ?

But come on your ' Ipswich are gone ' proclamation definitely happened (way) AFTER they had lost to Leeds not before as you say.

Ipswich had lost only 2 matches prior to that Leeds match . best stats in Champo.

7.) 21 Feb 2024 10:57:10
Some people wwre stating Ipswich would fade away long ago

April is the last month of the season!

8.) 21 Feb 2024 12:19:03
Baz Gonners do face a difficult April. OP is right. If we keep winning, nothing can stop us. Friday night is huge. I'd like to see Joseph start.

9.) 21 Feb 2024 13:10:38
DF will keep same starting 11 Georgey

Ipswich finishing 2nd imo should not be discounted .25 % chance imo Leeds 40 % Saints 35%

People kept saying Leicester would fade away in 2016 yet they never did and won EPL.

10.) 21 Feb 2024 13:50:07
When we beat Ipswich at their er field I predicted they were rubbish. I said their defense was useless. Check out goals conceded.
Apart from Rotherham they are the worst Team out of about 10 I’ve seen this season.
They continue to strangely hang on. They can score goals. We all know that’s not a real recipe for success.
Winners are defenders.

11.) 21 Feb 2024 13:59:05
Baz, for absolutely accuracy in my suggestion that Ipswich has gone.

I said that a Ipswich has a real tough set of games, starting with our match with them [23rd December]. "This will define their season, "

After they drew with QPR [29th December[, I said they were "gone. " aka as 6 weeks ago.

12.) 21 Feb 2024 15:08:40
So yes Ani after Leeds match

And have those matches defined their season detrimentally? Nope.

Aus ; Ipswich are " rubbish"? Sure they have conceded more goals than Leeds and three or four other teams

But they lose the least of all Champo teams ;

Discounting them entirely . hmm . madness.

13.) 21 Feb 2024 15:59:27
Let's have it right, anyone who's watched Ipswich this season can see they're not the best. They ship goals left and right and they don't have a great team/ squad like the other 3 mentioned (us included) . Somehow they keep eeking our results (very lucky last night against a woeful team who've struggled to score all season) . There's not a cat in hells chance that will last all season based on their proclivity to concede. They don't pass the eye test at all for me.

Massive overachievers who've rode a momentum wave.

14.) 21 Feb 2024 17:28:36
Not many games left for Ipswich to fade away

Just 13 out of 46

Just 4 defeats in 33 requires a lot of "luck"

15.) 21 Feb 2024 22:30:22
I said last night was lucky, Baz. They are overachievers this season.
They don't pass the eye test for me at all. Conceding a lot then trying to outscore opponents is a recipe for disaster imo.

16.) 21 Feb 2024 23:33:09
Baz, I argue that Ipswich’s season has been (re) defined. Them and Leicester had unbelievable starts and according to most pundits couldn’t be caught, yet both Leeds have caught and passed them. Their form over the last 12 matches is on average 9th/ 10th (boosted by the latest improvement) .

They won 16 of their first 20 games and yet (with the recent improvement) , still only managed 4 from the next 12 (1 in 9) …you continue to defend “little ole Ipswich, ” but I doubt you would be so forgiving had Leeds had the same record over the last 12 games.

Still dwelling on last nights game.
Remiss of me not to mention gray. He is getting better every game. Awesome talent.
But Georgi boy. Is there no limit to your brilliance. Gnonto assist was one in a million. Nobody else would have seen and executed that.

1.) 18 Feb 2024 09:40:59
Agree Aus. It's amazing really, I don't know about you but when we bought Rutter for that money, at that time in the season I was expecting him to fire tge goals required to keep us up, not recognising at the time his age and pressure that would come with the situation. I admit I berated his game, but how I was wrong, he is so clever, and others are not on the same page to compliment his decision making sometimes, two footed, strong and quick. I am sure the goals will come to align with his effort, so I openly apologise for my incorrect assumption of him.

2.) 18 Feb 2024 09:49:25
And that was Gio’s worst game of the season! Lol!
Archie just tells a new story every week!
Add in the rest of this seasons “most improved players”, and we are sat on a gold mine of talent right now.

3.) 18 Feb 2024 10:15:03
Yes Dougie. When he first came for that price he was way off the pace. Probably unfit and not used to the physicality. But in the off season he seems to have worked really hard to bulk up and explode on to albeit lower league.

His vision to see gnonto and then fashion a pass was beautiful. I think that he knows he has that time on the ball and he can get his head up and see things happening. As well this lad is going to get better and better.

We have to say gnontos first touch for the goal was special. To control a high ball and then touch it back across the on rushing defender was class.
He also finding form at the right time.
Feel sorry for the lb gnonto runs you ragged for 70 mins then dj comes on.

Back to er for leicester. Would be a brilliant 3 points if we beat them. Then a few lower teams for our next few games.

4.) 18 Feb 2024 10:42:24
Think there’s been lots of debate early in the season about Rutter and Piroe being played in the wrong positions.

I believe time has since shown that only Rutter was played in the wrong position, he’s not an out and out 9 he’s not prolific enough (yet) but he has incredible skill and vision, I remember many including myself could not understand the huge fee paid for such a low goal return.

I also remember (I think! ) he had the record that season in the Bungdalesia, for most successful dribbles.

Wonderful talent, so young and so much more to come, whisper it, but just maybe a certain Mr Orta did well here?

Also, have to hold my hands up, for my previous criticism of Messellier who I thought had his best game of his season yesterday, they deliberately targeted him at set pieces, something the Foxes will also do, but yesterday he was excellent, confident and commanding fair play to the lad, keeper coaches.

5.) 18 Feb 2024 11:10:58
Gnontos first touch was terrible, no way was that deliberate but his pace gave his the opportunity and he took it.

6.) 18 Feb 2024 14:31:15
What Canada said.

7.) 18 Feb 2024 14:58:33
Terrible Canada? He brought it down very well considering how high it went and that he took it down on his toe end. The fact he controlled it at all was a miracle. It probably did go slightly further than he meant but it was a good touch.
How many forwards in the championship would have finished that?

8.) 18 Feb 2024 15:54:27
Gnonto openly admits his first touch was poor and he was a bit fortunate to get his shot away.

18 Feb 2024 02:03:28
Ultimately it was an impressive performance. I wasn't really concerned that they had the quality to get in the game.
We made hard work of it though. Few players off their game.
Nod to kam, Willy and mez. Prob one of mez best.
Another 3 points though.
And I am enjoying watching our play at the moment. We have the makings of a prem side.
Well done boro. Will be interesting if we beat Leicester to see if they wobble.
I think numero uno on buy list in summer is a striker. Up or not.
Not that impressed with the 4 we have. Disappointed with piroe. He works hard and nabbed an assist but should be bagging more goals.
In other news.
Kal?
Good point for Chelsea. Looking forward to seeing the diff in quality against Chelsea. See if we can keep them out cause I'm pretty sure we can hurt them on the break.
Top of prem a bit like top of champ. A right tussle.

1.) 18 Feb 2024 05:10:02
Agree re; CF. Bamford great for this level when fit but we need someone clinical and who's injury record isn't going to be a major factor, as it is with Paddy.

Puroe just isn't a CF. Never has been. His goal record has duped a lot of people, but he's largely ineffectual as the focal point of an attack given he lacks the ability to hold up and link play when there and when he's utilised as a 10 he's a passenger far too often. He's a deeper lying SS for me, who's most effective when he plays between the lines and arrives late into the box.

Joseph, I like, but he's very green still at a competitive level. Will come good with time, but it's been hard for him to get regular minutes this season, so a loan probably needed.

2.) 18 Feb 2024 09:53:28
Piroe is not a Striker, never was. He is worse than Barndoor Billy in that role! Some people have a hat to eat on that front!
BamBam is a very capable back up, off the bench option in the PL. whoever is brought in, must have his off the ball capabilities he is master of, PLUS, the killer instinct infront of the onion bag! That will not be cheap, unless Hancock has a name up his sleeve already from the lower leagues or Europe. But yeah, it is a “must solve” position problem.

3.) 18 Feb 2024 10:18:23
Piroe did have a few good touches yesterday when he dropped to the 10.
Seemed to be quicker moving the ball . Good pass for the gio goal.

4.) 18 Feb 2024 11:41:52
Piroe is effective at putting ball in net at Champo when presented with it . he certainly isn't a 10.second striker yeah ok .

5.) 18 Feb 2024 14:28:00
His finishing ability not in doubt, Baz. Moreso what he offers as a CF outside of that. We are a worse team when he's there. Playing off the shoulder of a CF in a SS role so he can drive into space is more his bag and he generally scores a lot of goals from that. Having said that, you can't argue with his goals tally. It's helped us tremendously. I'm just talking in a more idealistic sense here.

6.) 18 Feb 2024 14:46:28
Good post Dill. I concur entirely.

7.) 18 Feb 2024 18:15:36
I think that a centre forward worth a look at could be gianni alioski’s international team mate Bojan miovski playing for Aberdeen. He’s playing for a side that’s currently struggling in the Scottish premier league, and has already scored more goals (22) than the whole of last season, and they finished 3rd last season, obviously behind Celtic and Rangers, who he has also scored against both this season. He also scored in the europa cup against BK Hakken and POAK Salonika. He’s 6ft 2 and only 24 years old. Maybe worth a shout?

Relieve a bit of the ffp burden. Use some of it to sign Rodon.
Happy to let him go. Might mean having to keep Willie though or getting a newbie.

Bazball a real success lol. Losers. ?????
Not sure we created Bielsaball either.
At the end of the day he has his faults but he was lovely man that united a city and team although not all supporters.
I enjoyed watching us give em hell even if it did turn sour.
