Last night was disappointing no doubt and as an old supporter. I yearn for a cup run. Aside from anything else, it’s a distraction from what is going to be a long old EPL season.
Nonetheless, by means of providing some balance to the comments, I took some positives from the game.
Nmecha, looked strong and fit and worked hard.
Harrison played pretty well overall (probably our best player on the night)
DCL, is rusty, but got into position to score (and should have bagged two at least)
Bogle is fit and probably the only player reaching the right level at the moment.
Okafor looks promising.
Gnonto and James more effective against a tiring defence.
I don’t care what some of the detractors think, this team will be ok once it beds down.
1.) 27 Aug 2025 10:09:28
great points Ani.
2.) 27 Aug 2025 10:50:21
Unpopular opinion but I would keep Harrison. He has skill and plays with passion and intent, despite the environment he finds himself in.
He's potentially a better Firpo or maybe an AM?
3.) 27 Aug 2025 11:29:36
Well said Ani.
4.) 27 Aug 2025 15:40:23
It was hard to tell from the TV last night [also essentially and empty ground], but I couldn't hear any booing of Harrison. I don't think it is ever justified anyhow [just my opinion], but hopefully fans could see last night that he is prepared to put a shift in and ironically, it was one of the better games he's had for us.
Every time he got the ball, he played with urgency and often went back into our third to get the ball.
I hope he stays and convinces the fans with his performances.

One of the interesting side stories for me next season, will be sentiment towards the players who “jumped ship” when we were relegated and those whose heads were surely turned before our final run in last season.
Aside from Gray, I don’t envy the likes of Harrison (unless he’s playing for us) , Summerville, Rutter, Adams, Sinisterra playing against us at Elland Road.
1.) 24 Apr 2025 07:19:13
I think Georginio is only one who well get a clap and a warm welcome. The rest will, and deserve to be, booed.
2.) 24 Apr 2025 08:30:52
Yep. Gio will be fine. The rest, Inc JH even if he remains a while, get what they deserve.
Think JH will be gone anyway, even if we have to pay some wages to get shot. Bad eggs not needed.
{Ed025's Note - please take him back Brighty.. :)
3.) 24 Apr 2025 09:02:58
Jackie, more concerned about his hairstyle than justifying his colossal wages,
Gone gone gone please ?.
4.) 24 Apr 2025 09:44:14
I actually think BA not good enough for epl (he wasn’t previously) and will be sold, Wober will be sold, because he wants to go back to Germany (he’s probably good enough for the epl as squad player)
And sadly I think Harrison will NOT be bought by Everton and will have to come back. Hopefully Fulham come back in for him, Baz makes a very valid point in terms of JH goals and assists return for us, but I’m stubbornly stuck on ‘you didn’t want us, so guess what, we don’t want you’ …. no logic to my view just stubbornness. JH can do it at EPL level but like any player that left I don’t want them back.
I’m sure most will be booed including Gio but they won’t be bothered in the slightest, there is little if any loyalty in the modern footballer, and all of them are considerably richer (currently with stronger teams) following their decision to leave us.
What concerns me more, is that old adage of ex players scoring against us…. there’s a few now.
5.) 24 Apr 2025 12:35:50
Have tne players who " jumped ship" even had good seasons with other clubs.
Jackie Harrison didn't under Dychey at toffeea and he will be back playing for Leeds this season.
Biscuit legs Sini has been injured for most parts of pasr 2 seasins with Bournrmouth
Adams was out injured for 16 months with Bournemouth, he is a very average mf
Rutter had a purple patch for Brighton but is out injured with a serious injury.
Summerville was out of his depth in EPL at West Han, had no affect and since been out injured long term for West Ham
Archie Gray played quite a lot for Spuds due to their player injuries but now us bench warming . and I repeat he is nowhere near as good as some thought. he has nowhere near the takent of his great uncle Eddie Gray.
6.) 24 Apr 2025 13:01:12
I’m not worried about the players we lost last summer as I believe we have better now apart from Gio when you compare him to Aaronson.
Manor Solomon makes J. Harrison look like a schoolboy and if he signs for Leeds United, which I can see happening then Harrison probably won’t even make the bench.
It’s no coincidence or that he doesn’t fit in at Everton, he is just simply not good enough for the Premiership.
Any Everton fan will tell you that.
A loan out or sold to a club in the MLS is the likely outcome for him.
7.) 24 Apr 2025 16:05:18
Totally agree with OP on Harrison
All hairspray no heart.
8.) 24 Apr 2025 16:22:30
Chrissie lol you seem to be obsessed bg Jackies hairstule and hairspray
Jack had plenty of heart effort application and goals and assists for LUFC.
9.) 24 Apr 2025 16:59:13
Baz, Jack did ok for us in the EPL and at times did a good job, but I view his talent level much the same as Dan James. Both good players, but often can't make the right decision / maintain composure at vital times. Both capable of crossing the ball well, but 3 out 4 times they don't / can't. A bit like promoted teams, often too good for the Championship, but not quite good enough for the Premier League. Harrison still looks lost in a poor [though improving] Everton team.
I think Solomon will be more effective for us in the EPL than Jack Harrison, but I think his season will be very much like Summerville's had been this year.
10.) 24 Apr 2025 17:45:35
Ani fair comment re JH. far more rational than the peeps who dismiss his achievements and talejg jisr because he'd rather play in EPL getting full 90K wages.
21 Apr 2025 22:18:54
Ladies and Gentlemen
Today is a momentous day, a day, some thought it wasn’t possible. Some who frequent here and have never seen it and some of us are old enough to question whether we would see it again.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, one of Baz’s predictions was correct.
???.
1.) 21 Apr 2025 22:32:45
Aye up Ani lad ; there's been so many correct ones by moi .
But one of THE most important ones ever by moi was that Mes would be/ must be dropped ; it literally saved Farkeys LUFC job
Enjoyyyyyyy lads : Leeds are on the UP!
{Ed025's Note - you did call it Baz i must admit..
2.) 21 Apr 2025 22:40:48
Indeed ED025
and I am looking forward to playing your beloved team Everton next season . there ha. been some right royal excellent matches / battles between Everton and Leeds since the 1960s.
{Ed025's Note - i have been to quite a few of them over the years Baz, always tough games mate especially against that 70,s side...god they were good..
3.) 22 Apr 2025 07:24:13
Yeah Ed I remember that tackle by Norman Hunter that laid Howard Kendall flat out at Goodison in 1968 who then had to be carried off by 2 assistants. Them were t'good old days :-)
It's on YouTube btw.
{Ed025's Note - i was only 10 then 2sheds, i cant remember if iv put sugar in my tea these days mate.. :)
05 Apr 2025 20:52:42
As a little quirk of fate (hopefully) , in our promotion season, our 40th game was against Luton. We drew 1 - 1. Keep the faith guys, that team went on to win the final 6 games.
18 Feb 2025 11:39:19
Thought I would pop by to share the joy; what a night! Oddly for me, beforehand, this was the game I was least worried about over the last month. I have seen Sunderland in the flesh several times this season; recently at Derby and they were very fortunate against what is a dire Derby team.
Would have been content with a draw, but OMG, talk about getting an old man out of his seat! Still can't find the cat!
Did anyone catch the stat before the game started? We are 13 points ahead of where we were in our league winning season. Our points in that season would have us sitting 5th presently.
First time Farke really showed his emotion pitch side as well.
Oh the paradox of swapping unbridled joy of the EFL for the likely disappointment of the EPL, though I think we would be ok if we make it.
1.) 18 Feb 2025 11:54:09
Good to hear from you Ani! Great result, excellent resilience and endeavour in the second half, and great game management from the gaffer. Excellent, exciting result!
2.) 18 Feb 2025 11:58:23
Interesting post Ani and good also to see you regularly in Leeds Live matchday chat.
Yep the Leeds Bielsa Champo title season, from memory Leeds were a tad shaky in Jan and Feb.
But it was a King Pablo inspired last 10 matches when Leeds won 9 of them that saw Leeds race away to Championes finish line on a high 93 points ( 10 points clear of 2nd)
3.) 18 Feb 2025 16:33:21
A finish like that season will do nicely.
18 Aug 2025 19:52:13
Paraag said tonight that they will working for the “…. next 12-13 days trying to strengthen the team as best we can within the rules…. ”.
05 Jun 2025 08:40:08
I read somewhere Aus that we need to be reminded how short a footballer's career is and that should be considered when considering how high their pay is. By my reckoning, Ronaldo’s career only needed to last 18 minutes to equate to the average Portuguese salary.
This made sense back in the day, when the “stars” fortune was maybe 5 - 10 times the average pay, and your average player maybe 3 times etc.
These days it’s vulgar.
07 Apr 2025 11:15:35
That would be Olympic qualification standard Bright, if you could do 10k in only 47 Baz posts. I might get my shoe laces done in that time.
05 Apr 2025 15:25:43
…. or 50,000 Baz posts (on the subject) to late?
I couldn’t watch the match, but looking at the stats I suspect we struggled again.
I take some solace that we are not losing and still grinding out difficult match situations. I still think we will make it (even though I’m not sure why I want them to) ; 6 games to go, still some twists to go; who saw this form after beating the blunts, so it can still happen to the others. One or both of the top two will drop points against each other.
We’re one good result away from kicking on.
15 Aug 2024 11:49:45
That’s where everyone wanted Amps playing.
12 Nov 2025 20:39:41
Chris, re why have the three teams mentioned survived? Well, simplistically; they have been run better than us for one and more importantly, they were fortunate to have been in the EPL for the last two seasons, when frankly the 3 promoted teams on each occasion were utterly dire. Everton, Forest, and even Brentford looked far more likely to be relegated that season than us.
Let's not forget, than even in our last relegation season, the 3 teams above us, all broke PSR rules and received points deductions, unfortunately and conveniently, the season after the crime was determined. We can all contemplate why, but we for some reason in the last 10 games of that season utterly collapsed. No one, not even all seeing Baz could have predicted 4 points from the last 10 games. Who knows if we had found those two extra points and stayed up - perhaps we would been stable EPL now?
There has still never been an explanation of what went off at 1 - 1 at half time v Palace when we totally outplayed them in the first half. We were utterly dire [we had only been dire for most of that season] from that moment on.
12 Nov 2025 20:28:12
Add to your point OP, what credentials would he have for managing in the EPL. He's hardly pulled up trees anywhere in truth. Yes he has got teams competing in the championship, but all didn't make it out.
11 Nov 2025 23:11:30
Canada…James is missing (he’s a shadow of himself) . We’re really missing Rothwell and Solomon. I never criticised our possession based, slow build play up last season, because it always ended with something. I appreciate we can’t go gun-Ho, but we seemed to have lost all impetus over the last few games. We’re not even making that chances we readily miss at the moment.
Our defence, which was relatively solid early on (Arsenal aside) , has gone to pieces. Our keeper seems confident but can’t distribute at all. Our problems recently, seem to stem from the changes we’ve made at the back.
I just hope we step it up for Villa…. somehow.
11 Nov 2025 23:03:03
Chris, you answer your own questions, so I’m not going to bother. Attendance at our ground is immaterial. It counts for basically nothing in the scheme of things. Winning the Championship earned us about £10M. Liverpool got approx. £175M for winning the EPL, plus about £58M for being in the Champions league. The teams you mention, whilst not earning anything like Liverpool, still dwarf our earnings while we spend 2 years in the championship. Until we ourselves can become established, we won’t be competing for players or managers who will improve our lot much.
Because we messed up last time we were in the EPL, I. e. buying expensive players on poor / expensive contracts, 4 managers (compensation) , we have messed up PSR. It’s not about business acumen (one could argue it’s that very point that we are showing a lot if it) , it’s about being in a commercial straight jacket.
What I find remarkable about many comments here is that, we all predicted it would be an extremely hard season, that we would struggle to avoid relegation (we were second favourites after all) , that we would lose a lot of games, take a pasting more often that not, and yet when all that comes true, everyone is shocked and angry?
11 Nov 2025 21:34:33
Chris, Farke statistically was the worst EPL manager, when he managed Norwich. Kieran McKenna – 0.58 PPG, has now picked up the mantle. Vincent Kompany is statistically a worse EPL manager, but he’s a god at Bayern. You can make stats say anything you want.
