Call me the eternal optimist, a dreamer, or just plain crazy, but I have another of my gut feelings.

Leeds will beat Southampton
Huddersfield will beat Ipswich

and as a result we will be automatically promoted.

I only hope it is as correct as my previous gut feelings.

This is it boys, judgement day! Good post Jungle, and I pray šŸ™ you are right mate, but if not, dry your eyes mate as itā€™s off to Wembley we go šŸ‘ we are all wounded but a good team performance today against the Saints bodes well for the play offs. DF needs to put a huge marker down today to say, ā€˜we are Leeds, we want this more than youā€™ nothing less than our strongest possible team needs to be on that pitch, and the players on that pitch need to leave everything they have on it, nothing less will suffice! Alright, we have been hurt, but we have a second bite at the cherry, and how many teams would give their right arm for that opportunity, stop sulking Leeds, seize this opportunity and you will go down in Leeds United history, come on Daniel, come on Leeds, letā€™s do this MOT ALAW šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ™šŸ™šŸ¤žšŸ¤žšŸ‘šŸ‘.

But Ipswich will clobber udders

Not sure about playoffs, as it's just a Leeds thing to be rubbish at them once again šŸ¤£.

Is it me or is there a lot of bickering going on.
We have either 1 game left or 4, and i know whatever happens I will still be Leeds, and don't get me wrong I've shouted and screamed throughout the season, but we have all been round long enough to know that Leeds never have it easy.
Would you like it easy? Not sure I would, what did manutd have to talk about in the 90s, nothing that's what, just boring winning every week. Life is a rollercoaster just got to ride it, and i for one will take the ups, downs and bumps.

Is there only me still feeling a little bit of optimism for tomorrow. All it needs is Ipswich to fluff it tomorrow and that's more than possible. And then us to win (a bit less likely, but come on) ! It's easily still on.

Otherwise I don't really like getting involved in the bickering but I couldn't resist responding to all the Farke criticism. He might have made a couple of team selections over the course of a season that some of us might not have agreed with, but so has every manager across all the leagues. But on the whole he's been great.
Just think back to what he inherited and what a lot of us were predicting at the start of the season; "mid-table at best", "we'll be lucky not to get relegated again". He's done a remarkable job and we should appreciate him a bit more (in my humble opinion, but I'm usually wrong any way)

At the end of Summer window he lost Sini but surprisingly Gnonto remained. plus CS, GR, PB, DJ

Along with the key signing of JR as well as EA . he had a strong team.

90 points is nothing more than par for the course for a newly relegated EPL team with parachute payments

Last season Burnley 103 or something even Sheff U 91

Bottom line though for Farke and Martin is that both have been out performed by McKenna . Ipswich finishing above Leeds and Southampton is not acceptable.

Totally agree TRJFirpo, after the summer window closed and we knew what squad we had, I believe many on here were thinking mid-table at best.
He has done fantastically well, and yes, McKenna has done better, but that doesnā€™t take away from the Leeds effort. When Leicester won the league, nobody started criticising the managers of Man U, Arsenal, Citeh etc, we all knew it was a fluke and they rode their luck and momentum. It happens!
Letā€™s just crack on, see what tomorrow brings and if thatā€™s the playoffs, so be it, and if that brings Championship football next season, so be it. Iā€™ll still enjoy it and have a better chance of getting tickets!

Sorry Bazooka but I donā€™t know anything about Burnleyā€™s promotion squad last season or owt, but to compare them and us youā€™d need to compare the players they lost, the summer they had, the pre-season prep. And ours at the start of this season was woeful in all of those respects.
Better to compare what heā€™s done to what we realistically expected and heā€™s done a very good job overcoming all those hurdles.
Plus keeping hold of certain players who wanted to leave who have been key this season, which was great work. I for one was saying ā€œget rid of them if they donā€™t wanna be hereā€. And Iā€™m happy to have been proved wrong btw- look at the positives and just get behind him for one more game (maybe 4 more games)

If we'd have been hovering around 6-10 all season and got into the playoffs I think we'd all be pretty buzzing getting there.

Just a bitter pill to swallow when you've been top, had a great unbeaten run and then lose out at the last moments.

I get the frustration, but overall Farke has done well this season, but he still has his flaws which concern me.

Be class if a miracle happens tomoz. But failing that, I'll take a win and get the momentum going again if we are to be going into the playoffs, which is most likely.

Hoping for the best.

What Whitey said. Victim of his diminishing forward planning. He complained (rightly) about fixture pile up and tiredness yet doesn't use the bench enough for rotation. Der zwei dummkopf.

Before this season got underway and even during the start until the transfer window closed, the club was in complete turmoil with many players effectively wanting to leave due to the loan clauses in their contracts.
We had by the end of September Drawn 5, Lost 2 and Won 3 games, meanwhile Leicester and Ipswich were both ripping up the league and we were already about 10 points behind the leaders.

There were several of you blokes on here who were already predicting a mid table finish for this season, strangely enough 12th was it not Baz?

Yet, through his excellent and successful experience in the Championship, Farke managed to steady the ship and start us on an amazing winning streak, which the doubters love to ignore, breaking all time Leeds United records, even the Revie era.

By the end of March after being behind Leicester by no less than a massive 17 points by the end of December, remarkably we found ourselves at the top of the league by the end of March.

Now, if you numbskulls want to believe Farke doesnā€™t know what heā€™s doing with his selections or whatever brainless thing you concoct about his so called failures, then wake up and smell the coffee.

Thatā€™s why now some of you constant moaners, like Whiteman now want more, what is it exactly you want, mid table or promotion?
Of course because Farke has done so well considering our difficult start to the season you want more.

Is that not being a victim of his own success when unfortunately after such an amazing comeback, we just fell short of the autos and some are now berating Farke when at the start of the season they didnā€™t give him or the team anywhere near a chance of promotion.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

If play offs is our destiny then we will be playing WBA or Hull.
Personally I think form goes out of the window in games like these, very much like a cup game and thereā€™ll be a lot down to luck.

Our last game against Carlos Corberanā€™s team dealt us a defeat where had there been a competent ref we should of had a penalty and a red card for their player.
Ironically it was Rodonā€™s red card that kept the honours even at Hull, where perhaps we could have taken all three points.

All in the past now, itā€™s now down to the roll of the dice games.
Exciting but nerve wracking at the same time.

04 May 2024 07:16:46
Ok, Baz,

You claim to have forecasted our three defeats in December. No one around here remembers that, but letā€™s be honest, none of us have friends that think we have an outstanding memory to vindicate us, but weā€™ll give you the benefit of the doubt, however, we do remember, since I made my Ipswich prediction,

ā€¦that you said January was going to be pretty miserable ā€¦you were 100% wrong.
ā€¦. that unless we bought a LB, CAM and a striker, we would have no chance of promotion, you were 100% wrong.
ā€¦that this team has seriously underperformed, yet have been 20 points ahead of your (claimed amongst many ) 6th place prediction; you were 100% wrong.
ā€¦. recently, that Southampton would secure automatic promotion, you were wrong again.
ā€¦. that Everton would never get a points deduction. They got two; you were wrong.

As for me regretting predicting Ipswichā€™s demise, why? Do you actually think the drivel spouted spurred Ipswich on? Come on Baz, is that the level of your intellect? If I have a regret, itā€™s not appreciating the juvenile tosh it precipitated here, nothing more. Ipswich have continued to confound everyone, even you Baz. You now supposedly thought Ipswich would fall away in April (though for some reason didnā€™t share that thought at the time? ) despite them only dropping points once in March? Baffling?

Do you have any regrets about rubbishing our team alll season, being utterly disrespectful of others opinions, for your continued juvenile jibes? Any regrets for making all those (small sample above) very poor predictions?

Hereā€™s how:

Ingredients:
šŸŒŸ 175g mixed dried fruits
šŸŒŸ 225ml hot tea
šŸŒŸ 225g self-raising flour
šŸŒŸ 100g brown sugar
šŸŒŸ 1 egg

Method:

Farke won't be going anywhere next season and rightly so . He needs another season regardless .
However couple things that have annoyed me with him

He talks about the amount of games and player welfare - however he threw Rutter straight back in team after hernia surgery, he hasn't looked the same player since.
After the international break we really should have used the squad, to me
The Welsh lads needed a break, we have players they are not getting any minutes at all. He is also saying about how young the team is and the average age yet he was willing to let Ayling go and continue with gray week in week out . I definitely think he's made a few errors and the last few weeks Farke has panicked and was not willing to change.

Agree2 0Disagree

03 May 2024 11:01:33
Its easy to claim things would have been different had we done this, that or the other but then if it doesn't work everyone moans that it should have been left the same. look at archie, many moaned he wasn't in midfield, then he was moved to midfield and hasn't done so well. People moan about Bamford then he doesn't play vs QPR and we are all wishing he did.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Fact is we don't know for sure what is a 'mistake' and what isn't, and that's what makes it so easy to be an armchair manager, so why not let the expert make the decisions?

Agree2 0Disagree

03 May 2024 12:10:02
My thoughts entirely Alf. Some may say Farke is paid a lot of money and should not make errors.

Farke has been a great success for this season in my opinion, he may of made some errors in his selections but all managers do, name me a manager whoā€™s never made an error?
As Woody said, you donā€™t make many errors if you are breaking Leeds United records like points tallyā€™s and most league wins in succession since 1931.

The inexperience of some of his very young players has denied Farke of getting this team over the line.
It does my head in that players donā€™t cop much flak when results donā€™t go the teams way, managers are always the scapegoat.
Of course Baz knows better though, but I donā€™t hear many Leeds fans calling for his appointment šŸ¤Ŗ.

I like him as a manager, he has a connection with us the supporters, he has been amazing, but he has made a mistake or two and he even admits to that. It has been a soul destroying month after such an amazing start to the year. Looking on the bright side at least weā€™ve still got something to play for if a miracle doesnā€™t happen this weekend. Missing out on play offs is harder still.

Reading Farkes interview he has accredited some error on himself in our last game, he believes he shouldnā€™t have taken Byram off just before they scored their second.
But he did accuse his players of being too defensive minded and not playing our normal on the front foot,

Letā€™s hope for something very spectacular on the weekend and if not then a big day at Wembley.

Agree3 0Disagree

03 May 2024 08:44:47
Byram hasn't played well last couple he's started, so not too sure about that one tbh. He's pretty unconvincing at RB. Positionally, I think he operates better at LB. Gets caught out way too much at RB. Hence the reckless challenge against QPR.

Agree1 0Disagree

03 May 2024 11:30:02
OP you just proved my point I've been making all season. DF said we were too defensive minded BUT! He has played 2 defensive midfielders all season. AGAIN, no plan B. He never even tried 3 at the back.

Taking Byram off against QPR didn't cost us automatic promotion, His poor player management and tactics after the Chelsea Game was to blame.

BUT! He still has the playoffs to make amends.

šŸŖ It's called handbrake football. Demonstrated by zero goals all season from midfield. Archie strike against the eventual champions was an OG. Amps' cup goals was when he played as a defender. šŸ”‘ now is Rutter. If he returns to fitness and form, we can succeed. If not, it'll be šŸ’”.

Don't get me wrong, I do think Farke has done a good job and I want to keep him next season. But does anyone else get bored of the constant references to tiredness, two many games in a week or being a young team? They're professional footballers so should be able to play at the weekend and midweek. Yes we have done young players, but these are also either international players or ones worth some money or we've paid a lot of money for. With the squad that we have on paper, we should have been promoted this season. Yes we had a poor start/ loan saga, but we had plenty of games after this where we're dropped points. The most recent being the last two home games and qpr, but there were plenty of games before that. I'm still hoping for a miracle this weekend so we go up automatically. If not that we go up via the playoffs. It we do, I think we will definitely need to strengthen in the summer. If we don't win play offs, we may lose some players, but based on some performances recently, I'm not fussed if they decide to leave. Does anyone know what the situation is with the loan players who left us? Are they allowed to go out on loan again or are we able to sell?

02 May 2024 09:03:34
Callum o hare could be a free transfer in the summer
If we are in the champ next season I would say make him a priority . I think it's a position we need to really have a little more depth in .
Playing Rutter after he had the hernia op was because we had no other choice.

Problem is IF Leeds get to Playoff final they won't know which division they will be in till May 26th .

Whilst waiting for playoffs final they may miss out on possible targets for either an EPL campaign or Champo campaign ( not yet knowing which)
