Anyone know what's going on with our attempt to sign Leo Hjelde from Celtic? Has the deal been Hjelde up? What's with all the delay?

1.) 23 Aug 2021 09:11:24
The delay is classic Leeds and orta George, when is anything simple with orta.

2.) 23 Aug 2021 12:55:40
If he takes as long to buy a loaf of bread as he does a player he'd have dropped dead long before he finished making his mind up or probably bartering the price down.

3.) 23 Aug 2021 13:38:48
Yes let's pay whatever every selling club wants.
It was so much fun in league 1 let's get there again!

4.) 23 Aug 2021 18:42:07
Why don’t other teams have these delays then Canada?

5.) 23 Aug 2021 21:50:44
What like Vile?
Which would you rather have Raphinha for 17 million or Buendia for twice that?

6.) 24 Aug 2021 06:28:58
Surely either option is better than nobody for nothing Canada?

7.) 24 Aug 2021 10:40:58
Not if nobody for nothing this year allows us to buy the right player when available for the right price.

8.) 24 Aug 2021 17:24:47
Maybe just maybe it’s us that won’t Pay the right price.

9.) 26 Aug 2021 05:14:44
I support brother 🇨🇦 on this matter. However, a middle ground needs to be found. Haggling over say a million for O'Brien when you should just get the deal done. Once we've got another PL year worth of income in our belts, we won't need to hard negotiate as much.

17 Aug 2021 15:44:23
There has allegedly been a falling out concerning Ian Poveda meaning he's set for a loan away from the club. Never thought he was good enough or going to be good enough for a PL club. Good character around the squad but we require better. Could also be a sign we're about to upgrade our pecking order reserve.

1.) 17 Aug 2021 16:38:58
I think we have with Summerville.

2.) 17 Aug 2021 22:51:21
I hope Summerville ain't no ( small-town boy ) that says ( don't leave me this way) because (it ain't necessarily so ) 🤣🤣🤣.

3.) 18 Aug 2021 00:22:28
With Summerville possibly displacing Poveda, if we could just find a buyer for Costa, and bring in a decent upgrade on him, suddenly we’d be looking a lot stronger in the winger department.

4.) 18 Aug 2021 06:56:28
Don’t think you are going to displace either of our two flanks. All four work well together. I’d be more concerned about mid and striker v.

5.) 18 Aug 2021 10:52:37
I’d be an upgrade in Costa clueless.

6.) 18 Aug 2021 10:53:14
Bielsa never wanted Poveda originally but Orta insisted. Sounds like Bielsa has finally lost patience or Poveda attitude wrong.

7.) 18 Aug 2021 13:14:08
Aus - unfortunately when Costa or Poveda come on as sub for either Raphinha or Harrison, I suspect the majority of supporters get an instant feeling of disappointment/ deflation/ frustration rather than excited anticipation. I guess most of us are still open to the possibility/ desperate hope that the substitution (s) may, against our expectations, work out well. However the initial negative feelings amongst spectators must feed across to the players concerned, in a discernible almost instantaneous change in atmosphere. I suspect that, though the two players are popular amongst the squad, within the general positive supportive vibe between them, privately the rest of the squad may have found that their expectations have lowered on the impact the two players will, in general, make on games. Even if that is not the case, they too must pick up on the mood of the crowd. Either way, currently these substitutions would seem unlikely to inspire the player’s already on the pitch, which can’t help really, especially if they need to turn the game. I suspect the same could be the case with supporters’ current expectations of Tyro, but at least there have been some signs of hope, and his confidence seems to be on the up for the moment, which can’t be said of the other two.

I would be absolutely delighted if both Costa and Poveda came on against Everton and put in storming performances, which inspired them to previously unseen, and consistent heights for the rest of the season. If this possibly unlikely scenario does not unfold, given the above, it might be best for all concerned if they were helped to find new clubs, hopefully ones where they could flourish. They’re both decent lads with undoubted talent, and it’s a pity that it seems unlikely to work out for either of them here.

17 Aug 2021 09:11:34
Dream come true for Aus and Baz (and as previously predicted by yours truly) . We supposedly in for QPR central defender Rob Dickie. Wolves also interested in the 25 year old. Could make for a solid partnership with Robin Koch. 😆🤤.

1.) 17 Aug 2021 09:33:22
Previously predicted! Supposedly in fo! Looks like that’s a definitely the mystic George.

2.) 17 Aug 2021 09:50:24
Martyn I indeed predicted correctly because I based it off players with unfortunate sounding last names so they might compliment Robin.

3.) 21 Aug 2021 16:00:33
I’ve heard we are back in for German midfielder Stefan Kuntz to come out of retirement, alongside Batty, and Butt.

10 Aug 2021 20:55:09
Bub spotted at the Etihad.

1.) 10 Aug 2021 23:08:08
So he went to watch a game. and?

2.) 11 Aug 2021 08:33:34
Went to just see pep surely?

3.) 11 Aug 2021 18:38:43
Is he looking for a new assistant?

4.) 11 Aug 2021 19:32:25
I’m calling it, Pep to be Marcelo’s translator.

5.) 11 Aug 2021 22:24:29
Bright No need to be salty. I was merely passing on factual information. Talking of facts, good luck on your Lang prediction. Lmao 😂😆.

08 Jul 2021 13:26:23
McGurk transfer done. Also James Debayo, England U-15 international defender from Watford joins our academy. Rumours that Kiko will be joining a La Liga club on season long loan next week. That'll make room for Emi as Meslier understudy 😆.

1.) 09 Jul 2021 10:03:38
One can always dream George 😂😂.

2.) 09 Jul 2021 16:51:10
Yes Whack, it’s probably what Emi dreams about every night - the chance of working with Bielsa at Leeds.

3.) 09 Jul 2021 21:37:18
If they love him so much why do u not have a bunch of Argentinian’s in your squad? I don’t buy into the thinking that MB could make him a better keeper, Mellier is naturally talented, kiko is not and that’s why he got the chop. however there is no doubting that MB could make outfield players better and his system/ style is very good.

4.) 10 Jul 2021 09:01:37
Whack - the reason there aren’t lots of Argentinians in our squad is because we haven’t gone in for them. We only go for those players who fill a current squad requirement, with the attributes Bielsa requires wants and are felt to be good value in the current market. A few examples might help your understanding here. We could have gone for Buendia, but didn't as we don’t need anyone in that position, and he was overpriced, particularly for a player who would only have been a backup. We could have gone for Martinez but he was seeking a move from the Gunners to become first choice keeper, and we were backing Meslier for that position. We may or may not have enquired about Rodrigo De Paul, he was rumoured to want the move, but the asking price would have been too high.

5.) 10 Jul 2021 13:09:10
I see where your coming from mate I do and it’s a good business plan, I guess the point I’m making is that if the most important thing for these players would be getting the chance to play under someone like MB so in theory they would accept smaller wages making the deals more sustainable and suiting your structure, but in reality all these players care about is money at the end of the day (with a small number of exceptions) hence why 99% of players will choose the club offering the most money and the only time the manager will affect the players decision between 2 clubs is if both packages are pretty similar. It’s my thinking that they work off a list in their head kind of thing…
1. Money
2. Chance of winning trophies
3. Regular starts
4. League/ location
5. Possibly the manager/ playing style
I think maybe 2 and 3 could swap places in some instances as some players happy to play bit part roles, I’m interested to see your thinking on that list, or add in a couple more things to the equation but I don’t think money will not be on anyone’s number 1, I’m not talking about the likes of Philips for example staying loyal to the club he grew up at, the scenario is 2 clubs attempting to buy a certain player, what do u guys think?

6.) 10 Jul 2021 23:25:15
I agree with 1 and 2 but if there is a decent manager like Pep, Klopp or Bielsa I think manager would be third. If its a run of the mill manager then yes I agree very low priority.

Wonder if Geordies will now ditch the barcode and play in red instead?

1.) 11 Oct 2021 16:58:14
With billions in the bank They are not in Red. Saudi Green more like. Maybe they will be the National team in disguise.

2.) 12 Oct 2021 14:51:44
Now that their owned by someone who’s minted, and who some would strongly suggest doesn’t give a §#*t about other folk, or believe human rights to be a thing, perhaps they could be renamed from barcodes to humbugs.

04 Oct 2021 16:28:06
Question for Clueless (who is far from clueless) . Are you Victor, are you Victor, are you Victor in disguise? Are you Victor in disguise? 💛💙.

1.) 04 Oct 2021 16:47:39
lol indeed Georgie
Clueless and his old mucka Victpr Orta definitely related at the very least.

2.) 04 Oct 2021 18:55:46
Ahhh but was that really (in disguise) Jeff, supported by Berm asking Clu the question? 💙💛💙💛.

3.) 04 Oct 2021 22:06:22
Baz His silence speaks volumes.

4.) 05 Oct 2021 09:08:25
George - Given that you appear to take pride in your linguistic dexterity, you surely know that an evidently rhetorical question does not require an answer.

5.) 05 Oct 2021 10:50:53
Boom clueless! Well played, and touché!

6.) 05 Oct 2021 11:34:23
Clued Up, I'll take that as a yes then. I'll let you know when I'm being rhetorical. Don't fret though about misunderstanding rhetoric. Some situations can get lost in translation 🇪🇸.

PS. Why did you buy Yosuke Ideguchi?

7.) 05 Oct 2021 13:58:42
Sorry George, this might be news to you, but you don’t have sole ownership of the English language - and if you don’t recognise a rhetorical question, that’s due to your misunderstanding, not mine.

8.) 05 Oct 2021 15:53:48
Clued Up Rhetorical questions are usually realistically determined by knowing the intent of the person posing the query. However, on this occasion, I say you are right - it was rhetorical. Anywho, lose a bit of weight, trim the beard and buy that dog 🐶 botherer midfielder in January. Our midfield can't cope against top 10 opposition right now.

27 Sep 2021 06:02:38
Worrying stat from last 3 league games. Whilst "only" conceding 6 goals, we've faced a mammoth 67 shots on target in that time. That's 1 every 242 seconds and that's just the on target shots. Worst top flight start in almost 9 decades. Don't think Bielsa can afford to lose against Hornets. Fact is teams know how to play against us now. He ought to have changed things a little in midfield in order to combat opposition knowledge but this required investment and we were too busy haggling over pocket change and not pursuing the correct targets. #self-sabotage.

1.) 27 Sep 2021 07:59:58
I think it’s a mix of biesla stuborrness and players under performing and injuries.
We not anywhere the team of last year.
Very disjointed.
It’s going to be a long season.
Jan we need striker and midfielder.
Our youngsters although talented are not world beaters and prem capable. They may keep us up but no more x.

2.) 27 Sep 2021 09:01:01
If bielsa was managing any other club and had started the season like this then he would be standing over the trap door. He is living on his record for the past few seasons at Leeds. How long do you realistically he will survive it things don't improve. Personally I don't think he will be here next season.

3.) 27 Sep 2021 09:33:04
With respect George, did you dream up that statistic yourself, or did you stumble upon a cache of unchecked statistics masquerading as facts?

4.) 27 Sep 2021 10:29:10
Think that's a bit harsh Mezz, yes we ain't started well that's true. But of the games we have played 4 of those clubs will finish top 8 so I suppose a bit of context is needed , but I really wouldn't want bubs to given the boot due to this poor start

Let's now see what the man is made of in terms upping the morale, tweaking the game plan. But it is really after driving me mad to think we let pre season go without proper additions in crucial areas.

5.) 27 Sep 2021 10:38:33
Cant seriously be saying sack the best manager we've had since Sgt Wilko?
Might get lucky if we did and persuade Woy to come out of Wetirement, or even better big Sam, or if were really lucky Mark Hughes
6 games, with injuries against decent opposition.

6.) 27 Sep 2021 12:03:16
I now see what you have done here. Some writers very loosely refer to any shot as a shot on goal (rather than describing it as a shot at goal) , which some readers (including you) might confuse as meaning shot on target. Over the last 3 games our opponents have indeed attempted 67 shots at goal, of which 23 were on target, which is one every 704 seconds (around 11.7 minutes) . Yes that is higher than we, and Bielsa, would wish, but nothing like the alarmist picture you presented with “a mammoth 67 …… and that’s just the shots on target”.

7.) 27 Sep 2021 12:30:37
Never said sack bielsa, not even saying we should. Just saying he probably be looking over his shoulder at the door if he was elsewhere. But the guy has got to now prove his worth, let's hope for Leeds sake and our premiership status his stubbornness isn't his downfall. Reality is he doesn't usually stay around too long anywhere.

8.) 27 Sep 2021 13:48:15
Who would you get instead of Bielsa?

Let's see how the next 4 games go before we get too panicky.

I actually don't think the board would mind if we went down. Could cash in on Philips and Raph and give the youth a chance to gel and get us promotion.

9.) 27 Sep 2021 14:39:03
Alf - there’s no way the Board would be happy with us going down. It would be a massive gamble. They’ve seen how difficult it is to get out of the Championship - it would require everything to go right for us, probably starting with choice of a new manager, and they also know it would be giving the EFL another chance to try its best to keep us subjugated.

10.) 27 Sep 2021 15:05:56
Alf that is one of the most weirdest illogical comments I have ever read

and spot on Clu.

11.) 27 Sep 2021 17:46:02
Baz Correct. Alf, that is a very bizarre remark. We need to stay in this league.

12.) 27 Sep 2021 19:51:24
How many teams have been relegated after 6 games luck will change for god sake are you Mice or men mot.

13.) 27 Sep 2021 20:52:52
Im not saying that's what I think we should do. Merely trying to make sense of a baffling lack of strengthening by our board. Maybe they don't want to spend any money and prefer to try and make it with the u23s.

26 Sep 2021 18:28:12
Wasn't impressed by Radz tweet response to a fan about Forshaw. Cracks in his tenure are appearing.

1.) 26 Sep 2021 18:49:14
Yes very cringeworthy. Must be starting to feel the pressure in this poor run.

2.) 26 Sep 2021 20:39:43
Alf I maintain my opinion about Radz contrary to CC view. He's just not a footballing person. Surrounded by footballing people yes but that doesn't make him knowledgeable on footballing matters especially our misfiring midfield.

3.) 26 Sep 2021 23:05:28
George your misunderstanding my comment . I meant Radz is now a footballing man like it or not and the misfiring midfield is something you know I have also been very critical of for a long time .

Radz pays orta plenty of cash to find players so I am well aware Radz only really signs the cheques then

My initial comment is based on a) his arrogance +b) his naivety to think Forshaw would sort the midfield when Adam couldn't sort an under 12,s schoolboys boot camp with his history of injuries.

4.) 26 Sep 2021 23:34:32
No, that's the issue. a lot of the decisions he makes are incredibly naive in terms of football. That's why Orta is even more dangerous as he will be one of the main advisers and his track record isn't great.

5.) 27 Sep 2021 05:46:26
CC Don't see how you can be arrogant and naive simultaneously on the same issue. Also don't see how you can be naive and a footballing person at the same time either. Radz is no footballing person! Cheque signer yes. Part of the problem is Bielsa. Not sure he realizes how competitive this league is and what is at stake. I can see us spending in January. So many missed opportunities in the summer. Bielsa tactics look even more suspect given we probably have 3 world class players in our ranks, Meslier, KP and Raph. Had we recruited well and in central and attacking midfield, would be so different. Fine margins.

6.) 27 Sep 2021 10:37:48
George, arrogant in the not spending of cash,

Naive in the belief squads good enough

I probably worded it wrong .

7.) 27 Sep 2021 13:16:35
We need one more (attacking) world beater. Its all wella and good having two good defenders but it is vitally important the we have an attacker that can make things happen. That can affect the game. that get get the crowd holding their collective breath. Someone who can get us that all elusive goal when we are desperate. Pablo could, Raph can but we cannot always rely on Raphina. let's get a goalscoring midfielder in the summer, if not January.
