Can we get Rooney sacked for a third time?

Agree3 Disagree0

12 Jan 2026 20:27:55
🤣🤣🤣
But clearly, we would not take any pride in that!?

12 Jan 2026 14:44:27
I thought gnonto was our best player against Derby. He is a young lad with lots of talent he has just been unlucky with injuries at wrong times and the good form of James and Solomon last year. And now we have stopped playing with wingers.
He has contributed to three good results so far .

Goal yesterday. Penalty against Liverpool and a wonderful cross for dcl.
He is arguably in better form than okafor. But maybe he doesn't have the pace.
I think with a run of games he could show us how valuable he is.

Agree5 Disagree0

12 Jan 2026 17:12:32
Pace is great but you need to have the end result and Okafor only shows glimpses of what we hoped he could do. I've always liked Willie G for his enthusiasm and commitment and hope we can find a slot for him to play on a more regular basis. He's done ok the last few games.

12 Jan 2026 17:38:15
I would like willy to get more game time. I think he needs it to really develop. Okafor is I think suffering a little from the pace of English football. He started like a train but he is having a bit of a dip in my opinion.
I like how willy doesn't give the ball away a lot and he links the play well.

12 Jan 2026 20:26:50
Gnonto is a good player but I’m not sure he will fulfill his potential. I also hate his constant cheating and histrionics, it drives me mad.
How many times has he been rolling around feigning injury while the opponent attacks?!
Seems like a nice fella though!

12 Jan 2026 22:56:09
He's a young Italian! He is going to roll around a bit . But he plays with a smile on his face and he has a few years yet to improve.

13 Jan 2026 06:40:33
All teams roll around as if they been hit by a bus Gnonto is no different seems to be a part of the game, like goal keepers going down . watched the woman play the other night it’s creeping in to there game now to.

13 Jan 2026 17:32:33
Oh no! God forbid the women start rolling around, crying and complaining for nowt! 😲.

13 Jan 2026 22:22:30
My missus already does that Bright!

11 Jan 2026 18:18:30
Was watching a game the other day and noticed there was a crate of drinks at each corner flag, then I remembered the world cup in Mexico when big Jack Charlton was managing republic of Ireland getting booked because the players were melting in 40 degree heat and the officials refused to allow the players to get water, how times have changed.

No towels to dry a ball off, quagmire pitches could go on and on good old days eh or were they.

Agree4 Disagree0

11 Jan 2026 18:46:44
Yeah that was crazy.

12 Jan 2026 23:17:37
I recall, back in the 1960s watching an Inter Cities Fairs Cup game, can't recall who against, when standing on the Kop we couldn't see the goal at the far end because of thick fog. We only knew when we scored when the fans in the South stand cheered. These days it'd have been abandoned.

13 Jan 2026 18:10:47
. for player safety JR!

There's no point acting if no one can see your performance!

11 Jan 2026 12:44:27
Oh dear!
I really don’t care about the cup games as we have bigger fish to fry. However, I really do care about possibly losing to Derby given the manner of the defeat to Newcastle. Thus losing 2 in a row and definitely not good for morale or confidence.

Approaching half time and it’s evident as we on hare are all aware the massive drop off all over the pitch when we are forced to make changes.

There just doesn’t seem to be any ambition from the board to push it and go for it in the transfer market.

No coincidence all the stadium news comes out again as a smoke screen like it did in the summer window.

Scares me to death if DCL gets injured.

And please cash in on the enigma/ false profit Wilfred Gnonto.
He is so so poor, never rated him.

Agree3 Disagree0

11 Jan 2026 14:01:01
That aged well. But yes, H1 was largely poor.
Big improvement H2, including Gnonto.
And "go for it in the transfer market"? Then what? Get a points deduction next season? So what's the gain?
Don't honestly believe the 9ers have played smoke and mirrors at all. And the stadium upgrade is quite simply just great news coming out as it was approved. Nowt sinister, nowt deceitful.

11 Jan 2026 14:14:14
Well got to be happy with that I would say Dave, took a while for the fringe lads to get into their stride, adjustment to formation et Al, 8 changes and a result, job done, smashing 😁.

11 Jan 2026 14:54:43
Plus I have to say, JH was appalling, really, what is the point, we can't play him and no one is going to want to buy him, he is stealing a wage.

11 Jan 2026 15:16:07
Dave, I think you pulled the pin and threw the grenade far too early. It ain't over till its over, and Willy got man of the match.
We are doing great this season, MOT.

11 Jan 2026 15:25:47
Happy to have won the more we win the better for me.

11 Jan 2026 15:26:58
Just to follow up, I think Farke's post match summary was absolutely spot on. Needed patience for 8 changed players to get up to speed, and the team to gel, which they did, and then we deservedly won.
A good run out for them, in the scheme of things.

11 Jan 2026 15:34:18
Harrison put on one of the worst ever shows in a Leeds shirt today.

11 Jan 2026 16:46:47
I hate to slag players, but yeah, Harrison was cack.

11 Jan 2026 17:30:58
Harrison didn’t play well, but it was his first start since August. Gnonto was cack in the first half, again his first start for 14 games.

I watch Derby live at home quite often (as an anti fan) and I feared the worst to be honest; their keeper has been their standout all season and the way he started made me worried.

11 Jan 2026 17:42:52
It did age well, first half in my opinion we were poor, disjointed and didn’t get going.

Credit to Daniel, he changed it for the 2nd half and we looked much better.

On the Gnonto thing, I’ve just never rated him. He’s so inconsistent, petulant and frustrating.

Now no game for a week so can we make some signings please.

11 Jan 2026 18:53:30
RE Willy Dave, I have to say I love him. In fairness he has had his problems but got his head down, stayed loyal, is obviously totally committed to LUFC if you watch his reactions, application. Gets my vote every time and I think he could be immense for us, there is a very talented player in there.

11 Jan 2026 19:56:56
Still only 22, and still relatively inexperienced. He'll always have the physical hurdle to overcome, but used his brains in the second half to do so, dropping off his marker more. We'd regret it if we let Gnonto go.
Ani. Yes JH hasn't much game time, but he trains everyday.

Rustiness is understandable under the circumstances, but an inability to execute the very basics most certainly is not. He looked like a player waiting for a contract termination, and a shadow of the player who was so valued under Bielsa.

11 Jan 2026 21:21:21
That’s JH Bright! It’s odd, when he was on loan to us, I thought he was on the cusp of an England call up. Since we signed him, he’s never been able to do the basics and he was no better at Everton.

{Ed025's Note - he was awful at Everton Ani, all the supporters could not believe how often he was picked mate, £90k a week as well...you could get a proper player for that..

11 Jan 2026 22:44:49
Willy Gnonto I feel still has a lot offer if he keeps working hard. Mancini when he was head coach for Italy saw the potential in Gnonto and gave him starts for the national team.
I think he needs more game time to improve himself, I hope they give him that opportunity like they did with Aaronson.

Harrison should’ve never come back to the club, his heart is not in it and it shows.
I’ll be amazed if he’s not gone in the summer.
For him his level is most definitely in the Championship, not a natural talent but can work hard.
His days at Leeds are well over.

11 Jan 2026 11:32:56
A stress free game. going to enjoy it. Hopefully.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jan 2026 12:47:00
Or not šŸ˜•.

11 Jan 2026 12:49:55
Half time and another half of typical Leeds United Cup football.

11 Jan 2026 13:23:15
Is there such a thing as a stress free game? I get stressed with every game. 62 mins 2:1 up, so far so good.

11 Jan 2026 13:55:13
Full time 3:1 - stress gone now. 3 good goals and a well deserved result.

11 Jan 2026 16:45:12
It’s not just a cup game it’s a rest game so we can be on top of the next one .

10 Jan 2026 21:32:38
Maresca and Amorin have gone. Rosenoir seems very confident he is the man to change Chelsea's fortunes but he's not the first one to take that job with the same belief. All his predecessors have virtually fallen away because they haven't achieved enough or can't cope with the interference from the owners. We'll see whether he sees out his six and a half year contract. They'll either be a very successful club within a couple of years or he'll be a very rich man.
Solskjaer is maybe coming back as interim manager. Once again, United can't get off the same treadmill.
Liverpool had the right attitude for many years with a succession plan but clubs don't seem to do it nowadays. I hope Keith Andrews succeeds at Brentford as that is passing on the baton.

Nuno is under pressure and the loss at Wrexham won't do him any favours and Thomas Frank is not taking Spurs where they want to be.
So we have Thomas Farke. He's won the Championship after an exhilarating season, is working with a relatively limited budget and has now unexpectedly found a way to make us difficult to play against.
The "bigger"teams chop and change but they usually don't achieve what they want.
I like Farke. He's not perfect and makes some odd substitutions at times but I think he's part of a group that is very united and hopefully will keep us up and stay on to consolidate our position in the Premiership for many years to come.

Agree4 Disagree0

10 Jan 2026 22:52:15
Don't think Forests loss at Wrexham will affect West Hams manager Dunelm, must have been in a time warp šŸ˜†.

11 Jan 2026 00:02:20
Thomas Farke? Is that a new manager?

11 Jan 2026 03:04:14
Apparently they are identical twins. Thomas was in charge first 12 games and then they swapped and nobody was none the wiser. One of the mysteries of the world uncovered.

11 Jan 2026 05:21:34
I think the point about hiring and firing coaches in the Premiership is a very valid one.
A coach today in top flight football is the most expendable person at any given club. Although he is paid very well but no where near what some footballers receive, his existence from day one hangs literally by a thread
A football coach’s contract at a club can be terminated sometimes in a matter of weeks with the what it seems, extreme demands by owners and fans.

Personally I find it ridiculous how a coach can implement his ideas to his players and that's quite often, not with the players he has contracted, then get instant results from his barely used methods.

For me any new coach should be given a minimum of two full seasons before being judged and assessed, you can double that amount of time at a elite club.
Sadly in todays climate of instant success, coach’s are left with little to zero time to applicate their methods and nurture a team of players to become a more successful team than they were.

The heavy demands for success at both Chelsea and Man United has proven in recent times that hiring and firing their coach’s simply isn’t working.
Why they can’t see that to me is very curious, Man united have been more generous in the time they have given their managers but I still think it’s not enough, especially at an elite club.

When does it finally sink in when season after season by just throwing what translates, another lamb to the slaughter, that you actually realize that your coach/ manager needs more time to reach success.

11 Jan 2026 07:56:40
For me and I registered this opinion a few seasons ago. Pre Farke I think. A coach should not have a set contract. It should be annually and dependant on realistic games won a points achieved.

11 Jan 2026 08:27:17
I'm with OP on this. The classic example being Sir Alex, who was on the brink of the chop half a season into his tenure. Who knows what might have happened had they followed thro with that.
The biggest jokers right now are the Celtic crew, who didn't even give Nancy enough time to properly educate his players on his playing system.

11 Jan 2026 10:32:19
Ferguson is a rarity. That was one lucky man. And lucky for them. That Dosent often happen.

11 Jan 2026 14:03:10
Didn't say otherwise Aus, but as with Don, it shows what stability can bring. There's a long list if you think about it.

10 Jan 2026 20:02:55
Our experiences of the FA cup have been blunted by the likes of Histon, Crawley Town etc and much as a win is good for momentum and confidence, in reality it’s usually such a changed line up it doesn’t generally make much difference.

Wondering if Farke will spring a complete surprise with giving Messellier a game tomorrow, puts him in the shop window and possibly sends a message to Peri.

Sure it will be Darlow, which will be equally good to see how he’s going.

Really would love to see our next superstar Harry Gray have some decent minutes, just don’t take any risks, no injuries to first team players, as of greater importance we have a very competent Fulham side heading our way.

Agree3 Disagree0

10 Jan 2026 20:56:34
I agree. I think Harry G should be given the opportunity. He needs this chance to show how good he is. If it doesn't work out then it isn't the end of the world. He's talented enough to come back, particularly with the support he has from family and the club. It's not about age but about ability.

And he looks as though he has it.
Perri was poor from the beginning with distribution and hasn't got any better. He can accurately throw the ball a long way but he's fairly useless with his feet. Just surprised that the "intensive" coaching hasn't improved him in that area.

11 Jan 2026 05:11:09
I fail to comprehend how a goalkeeper with such stature is so poor at crosses. Palace game last night. Both keepers coming out through players to catch the ball. We really need to up our have with goalkeepers. Been our let down last two seasons.

10 Jan 2026 14:23:15
Brilliant Macclesfield FC, knocked the holders Palace out of the Cup. I know PL survival is our number one priority, but a Cup run can feed confidence. I am hoping we get through tomorrow.

Agree3 Disagree0

10 Jan 2026 17:42:02
Same here brought up with the FA Cup when it was massive hate going out but not expecting owt tomorrow to be honest šŸ˜”.

10 Jan 2026 18:20:04
Only thing I want tomorrow is key players rested, a win and no injuries.

10 Jan 2026 13:52:02
With our finances being what they are I'm struggling to believe we will sign or loan anyone, that's not a criticism btw, I just think Mr Parag and Underwood may think we have enough to stay up and would be better off waiting until the summer window.

Not sure personally if that's the way to go but the winter window is notorious for overinflated prices so let's see.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Jan 2026 14:19:32
How are our finances old? Dire. Or we spent enough give us a break? Tell us the truth.

10 Jan 2026 14:43:20
Perfectly fair thoughts Bri.
I personally feel we might see loans to buy come in, if there's anyone suitable, but agree that given overinlated inflated prices, unless someone's contract expires in June, we won't buy anyone outright.

10 Jan 2026 18:44:03
Apparently Aus we are going to buy Haaland and double his wages, but keep it quiet pal we don't want Doncaster Rovers out bidding us šŸ‘.

10 Jan 2026 10:20:19
Lucas Perri has the lowest save percentage 56.7% and the second lowest distribution rate at 53.3% in the EPL this season.
I actually can’t believe someone has a worse distribution!

Agree5 Disagree0

10 Jan 2026 14:20:27
Ok. U been hibernating corkey?

10 Jan 2026 14:44:26
Distribution is a tricky one, given the regularity with which he's gone long since the tactical changes!

10 Jan 2026 16:46:07
On a long holiday Aus to celebrate my early retirement. Still been reading posts though.

{Ed025's Note - enjoy CORKEY mate..

10 Jan 2026 21:57:41
Cheers Ed.
