This is the only match of the season I haven’t seen. So have been sitting reading all the comments and reports for the last couple of hours. After getting down to the final comments of the first page, mighty says after 5 minutes knew we were going to lose. How could that be in such a massive game for the club? How could we not get ourselves up for such an important game? What’s happened to the team spirit? The bottle went? I read most of the reports saying meslier was poor again, piroe was terrible. As a team, we are far too nice. We can’t score from set pieces and always look like we will concede goals from set pieces. It doesn’t augur well for the last game of the season against saints, and more importantly the play offs. As always it’s easier to spout off once the horse has bolted, but lack of desire and fight is unacceptable
Maybe too many self before side players in our team right enough.

Explain ausman. We won 13 and drew 2. How can we go from that form to the current debacle? I think Daniel is sometimes too nice and too loyal, but it always comes down to the players. Without doubt Joseph should have been brought in a while ago, but piroe has been a 20 goal a season player the last couple of seasons, and frankly the game against boro when he came on, he looked as though he’d just came on from running the London marathon, and also didn’t look like he was trying a leg. I also think, had we had a better keeper, would have won a few more games. He was better when he was 19-20 years old.
Good shot stopper maybe, but his positional sense and distribution are woeful.
And we essentially have 2 old style sweepers that sit in front of the defence. They never drive forward and pass the ball sideways or backwards.
And practically no goals from defenders or midfielders, compared to other teams in the championship, have cost us. When you are backs against the wall you sometimes need someone other than the forwards to come up with the goods. It never happens.

We had plenty of chances to win the game yesterday again. It’s patently clear Rutter isn’t a centre forward. His goals and assists show that. Daniel has to change him and piroe around. Summerville has been a revelation this season, but I would like to see a bit of a variety on our set pieces. He more or less takes everything. I find it incredible, at this level, we don’t seem to have any plan with corners and free kicks. We had 7 corners yesterday to their no corners, and created nothing. Definitely need a stronger bench. Where’s cresswell? He’s more of a threat at set pieces, to bring on, instead of bamford and gelhardt, who offer very little. Get Charlie Taylor back if possible, move Spence over to his natural position and move Archie into midfield. He’s our attacking midfielder we have been looking for. He’s definitely good enough.

Some of us have been on about Charlie Taylor for many moons. Wetherby it is him or not, the LB fiasco has gone on beyond long enough.

Yes I do think we are missing proper attacking full backs. For all archie is doing a good job filling in at rb he is not a natural at running down the line. The timing of his runs is not there. As with spence you can see he is not comfortable on that side and turned back or inside too many times. Spence was at fault for their goal he made little effort to stop the cross coming in.
Also gio needs hold on to ball. He was trying too many flicks and tricks first half. in tight games like yesterday we need him holding on to the ball and bringing others in.

I should have made myself clearer on Rutter goals and assists. He has more than double assists than he has goals, so that’s why I think him and piroe should be changed around. Piroe proven championship goal scorer the last 2 previous seasons. I know there’s been plenty of posters been saying it for a long time now, but I thought DF must know, and give it time, but it’s time for the change.

To be fair Ben, we don't seem to overlap this season and our wide men always cut inside, rather than stretch the players out wider to make the space inside to exploit
Yesterday, looking down from the Kop we repeatedly had Spence/ Gray in space waiting for the ball out wide but it stayed tight in the middle
Is this how DF wants them to play, or just how the players decide in the moment ????.

To be continued! When he scored again from a set piece, which was disallowed for a foul, the player marking him was Glen kamara. Surely pascal or Rodon would have been better designated markers for a big tough experienced defender at set pieces?

A question for the faithful. Do we always adopt the zonal marking system? I must admit I didn’t think we did, but watching the game against Norwich on Saturday, the nearest Leeds player to Duffy when he scored was Archie Gray. Then when he scored again, from a set piece.

I think archie is developing into a amazing talent Clarke. I think in most positions on the park he could do a good job. It is sheer talent with him where as a shacks is sheer effort and will.
I do not know how much he will develop over the next few years. I personally think that he will be a box to box midfield player. But as I've said he could play number 10 easily. I don't think it will be his regular position in the future.

Fair post Alf. We all expect them to sit back and pack midfield.
What about someone lashing in one from outside the box for a change?
Or maybe someone scoring from a powering header from one of the ten plus corners we normally get in a game? Come on lads, an early goal (for us! ) to settle any nerves, then have a right go at them. It’s always the other team’s cup final against us, but tonight it really is our cup final.

It shouldn’t have been the case of what the other sides around us were doing.
We were in the privileged position of taking care of our own games, and we were there. All the chances we created again today, you can be sure our opponents would have taken them against us. Another twelve corners, the crowd are cheering and anticipating something every corner, and not a threat again. Lee Bromby made a very valid point today, saying Summerville is the most fouled player in the championship, and that’s fact, and every foul is in an advanced position, and we have no one that can take a decent set piece.
They score from a lump up the pitch from their keeper, a knock on from the centre forward, simple pass to szmodics and he scores past a kneeling meslier
Our 6’3” centre forward gets a lovely cross into the box, unmarked, in the middle of the box and “heads” it with his shoulder!
We really need to grow a pair of plums. How many teams kick us all over the pitch?

Not sure about that George. 6 minutes of added time, and it’s the 96th minute against Coventry on Saturday we got a corner, everyone up, including meslier (not really sure why he bothered) and little Willy couldn’t get it passed the first man on the post. Whereas Summerville is normally consistent on kicking the ball cleanly. I sometimes think Rutter has on welders boots with some of his efforts on goal. Watch this, he’s a cert to lash in a 30 yarder against Blackburn on Saturday now!

Ani you beat me to the point about corners and free kicks, but I have posted about this previously. We had 13 corners last night and I think it was 9 corners against Coventry on Saturday, and apart from the penalty appeal where Rodon was getting his shirt pulled and the handball incident in last night’s game, we haven’t threatened the opposition at all. Can someone tell me, do we have a set piece coach?! I know it’s a ridiculous question, but I have to ask it.
Also our shooting in general is woeful. Summerville seems to be our only player who can kick the ball cleanly. What do they do every day in training?
