Happy new year to all the posters and also the Ed’s for their fantastic work. I value and respect every post and it’s a great community to be part of. It’s always a white Christmas as far as we’re concerned. Still top, and long may that continue. Keep the faith.

{Ed001's Note - HNY C&j, have a great 2025.}

I must say what a difference it makes when mes saves the first shot on goal. They came at us as per usual in the first few minutes, and that was it. From then on in Leeds totally dominated the game. Everyone had a decent game, particularly DJ, Bogle man, piroe, and even BA had a decent game. Getting some of the gaffers’ Christmas pudding inside him certainly helped him perform better!

Couldn't agree more C&J.

2.) 28 Dec 2024 04:48:06
Yes Clarke. I was please with that save and in general a solid performance from mez. Maybe trying harder cause of aspirations. Long may it continue.

I watched the game with Blackburn commentary ( not intentional) and at the end of the game the commentators said Leeds devoid of ideas. Also 3rd game in a row a eustace team has beaten us 1-0. Badly lacking consistency, more importantly quality. Gnonto huge miss when 0-0. Firpo posted missing both for their penalty and when they struck the bar with a header. Away up pitch and too slow getting back. Terrible naive challenge by tanaka. And why farke keeps persisting with aaronson baffles me. What about doughty (Luton) and Doak (Boro) for possible recruitment? See if they want BA or firpo?! No? I didn’t think so.

Clarke and jones

{Ed001's Note - Doak is on loan from Liverpool.}

1.) 30 Nov 2024 18:08:22
I already told you why BA starts every game!

2.) 30 Nov 2024 18:27:34
Thanks Ed001. I did think he’s a quality player.
I must’ve missed that Bermuda? Tell me.
Has he photos of the gaffer just in tight lederhosen or something along those lines?

{Ed001's Note - normally struggles with end product, but he seems to be improving that this season.}

3.) 30 Nov 2024 18:35:47
Good post C&J

Our team/ squad also lacks LEADERS to grind out results away ; the players desire and Farke line up, game management not good enough in away matches

Sheff Utd ( 5 wins in 6) and Burnley ( 4 wins in a row) are grinding out results. Worrying.

4.) 01 Dec 2024 08:51:08
Spot on Baz. I agree, the blades and Burnley are grinding out results, same as Leicester and Ipswich managed to do last season. Where we can’t seem to break down teams, they find a way to. More obsessed with possession based football, rather than someone taking responsibility and having a right go. As you point out, leadership in the team. Also we managed to beat both Leicester and Ipswich home and away, and still didn’t get promoted.

Sign hamer now and stop titting about. 49’s
Also get chair and you can start the promotion party.

Clarke and jones

1.) 29 Aug 2024 00:26:57
C&J don't worry SF49ers are "actively pursuing "Hamer with 48 hours remaining.

2.) 29 Aug 2024 10:40:49
If Chair has a back problem, recurring, we don’t want him, tho he is a great player at this level.

3.) 29 Aug 2024 12:00:46
Not signing Hamer when he reportingly wants to come to Leeds would cost us automatic promotion. We will definitely make the playoffs but you all know how that story ends. Pretty simple to me, JUST PAY THE F-ING MONEY!

I think there will obviously be much more pressure on Daniel Farke this coming season than there was last season, purely on the mess that he had to pick up from previous season. Although the pressure ramped up in the close of last season, which I still think we should have still got promoted, given our remarkable run, just the poor run of results the tail end of the season did for us. The points total we accumulated was impressive given the lack of goals from midfield and defence. This season there will be huge expectations of the team. We have to recruit shrewdly. As much as I like cooper, shacks and byram for effort, I think the money could be spent more effectively on recruitment.

1.) 08 Jun 2024 16:53:54
Pretty much agree with all of that good post C&J.

2.) 08 Jun 2024 17:43:08
With how; Leeds played at the end, how Farke refused to sub or swap off-form Piroe, the hints Farke dropped about it being best to spend two years in championship, instead of going into the premier League unprepared, the elland road upgrades are planned, players staying with the club, Red Bull investing and, most importantly, how staying in the championship avoided fines and rules breaches, it wouldn't surprise me if PM, DF and the investors wanted to stay in the championship rather than get promoted.

With all due respect to Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton, does anyone Leeds fan really believe we didn't have what it took to score more than one past Southampton at the final?

We made it look like we could win, when at the end of the day, the choice was not to win. We came so close, yet somehow, didn't take victory.

When you consider the business side of Leeds and the benefits of investing while it's cheap (in the championship) and the rewards of taking a club from championship to top of premier league, the logic of waiting speaks for itself.

On the view from the fans, why spend a disastrous year in the premier league; where we couldn't afford to buy players or build a worthy team, only to be relegated again, with fewer players and bigger debts, possibly repplaying the 16 years we were out of the premier league, is it something that we would have wanted?

Give me another storming year in the championship, with hungry investors, time to build a club, and stadium, ready to march on together again in the top flight of football.

Thanks for viewing my ted talk, don't forget to like and subscribe.

There’s definitely some truth in what you are saying MOT, but I really do think they would of wanted to get promoted, but saying that I for one would prefer another great season in the Championship rather than have an unprepared and unpredictable team in the Premiership. Look at Brentford, they came close then went up and had a strong team which has sustained a place in The Premiership.
Fulham were relegated a couple of times before they became a regular Premier team, there are a few and we should be better for getting promoted next season, we will be more ready, more prepared and financially more stable.
Leeds United having been one of the most financially unstable clubs in the past years are going to be one of the most financially stable and with it will come success, I will be surprised if Farke gets us that far, but he will get us promoted and then someone else will take us further. It’s all stepping stones and it’s going to be very exciting times in my opinion. MOT ??ALAW.

4.) 09 Jun 2024 06:28:42
Lots of aspects in what you are saying that I totally agree with fella!
The only point I don’t agree with in fact, which aligns me with Woody, is the “not trying to get promoted”; usual reasons, terms and conditions apply!
Was that your first post? If so, nice one, and welcome!
If it wasn’t, then please do post more often, and stop being a slacker! ???.

5.) 09 Jun 2024 11:32:22
First post. Thanks for having me.

I agree with what you're saying white and woody. a good combo of words.

Leeds had to make it look like they were a threat, which we did with the thrashing of Norwich. We were not in the right place, financially, to be promoted and end up with anything other than debt and defeat.
I'm happy we're doing another year in the championship, the fans deserve another year of win after win. Next season when we do go up, and it is a when, not an if, money won't allow it to be an if, we will be in a better position.

I predict Farke will take us to the prem and maybe given a season or will be paid out and replaced with a big name manager like ETH or Mourinho. Either of those taking Leeds to the top would be a story for the ages.

6.) 09 Jun 2024 15:13:57
No guarantees at all that Leeds United " will" go up this forthcoming season.

7.) 09 Jun 2024 19:10:52
We would have got more money if we went up rather than staying in the EFL (dwindling parachute payments year on year) though, so don't understand the logic. Plus the RB investment would've attained us more money being a Prem team, so not sure how it makes sense about being more debt ridden if we got promoted. Wed actually have better cashflow. Furthermore we'd have a better ability to alleviate any PSR issues given EPL players generate more value than EFL players when sold.

We are demonstrably in a financially worse position now than we would've been had we gained promotion. We still owe a lot of money out and our players are worth considerably less because we are still in the EFL. Compounded by the fact that our PSR threshold would've been a lot easier to attain had we gained promotion.

The stadium expansion seems likely to be put on hold too given recent indications.

Doesn't really make sense what you said, MoT.

8.) 09 Jun 2024 19:36:47
Spot on Dill . it makes no sense.

9.) 09 Jun 2024 20:57:21
Mota - nice theory, tin foil on sale in Sainsbury's if you need a new hat.

I was looking forward to seeing Schmidt starting. He did okay. Wasn’t as offensive as I was hoping, but he was pretty solid. Always looked assured. Certainly one of the better players on the field tonight. Manor played well. Good ball in for the goal. What has happened to Gnonto? Probably needs to move on. When you think of the kid cutting inside and firing in a great goal at old Trafford, and his recent performances. Obviously has bags of ability, but he’s not been on his game for a while. Joseph not only lacking in composure, lacking in ability I’m afraid. He’s always there, but normally has a terrible first touch. Like BA, he needs to just try settle down but it’s not something you can coach a player. Saying that, if he wasn’t there against Preston, we wouldn’t have equalised in the last minute. He’s still a young player, so wouldn’t write him off.

I’m sure you were Baz. and quite rightly so. I normally enjoy joining in to the live chat, but had to record the match tonight, and just watched it now. To be honest we were fortunate not to concede a penalty with the Gman in the first half. I know for sure if it happened at the other end of the pitch we would all have been screaming for a penalty. A few big time Charlie performances from a quite a few of our players tonight in my opinion. Thought Rothwell was far too negative. 31st minute of the game and a direct free kick a couple of yards from the 18 yard box, and instead of having a go at goal, he decides to float the ball to the prolific Gman at back post, and the ball sails out for a goal kick. I’m not one for saying farke out, but didn’t we have only one left footed player on the pitch today? The point being, Rothwell, like Summerville last season takes every set piece. No left footed player to take an in swinging corner or free kick? You can’t have pascal taking them, as he’s our main threat at set pieces! Darlow didn’t have a lot to do, but didn’t concede, so first choice goalie for me. Only once he came out flapping, apparently shouting, tonight Matthew I’m going to be be deslier o Connor.

Alf Who told you Schmidt not a purchase for this season and only for next Iseason?! When has that ever happened? So he’s purely been brought on in games not to have any influence in the game, other than to wind the clock down? Is that what you’re saying? Can’t believe that. If he’s carrying an injury he surely won’t be included in the squad. Leeds United have a famous youth academy, yet no one coming into the senior squad. Mot I would like to see crew or chamber used in games but don’t see that happening unless we are down to the bare bones of our squad unfortunately.

Totally agree Bri. I read an article a couple of months back that DF wasn’t impressed with his performance in training. Not sure if that’s correct or not, but the few cameos he’s had, looks like he can contribute to the team. I think he gets the last 5 minutes in a game, normally to run the clock down. Isn’t there a coach on the sidelines that says to Daniel, you can’t be taking manor off? Clearly the most effective player on the pitch, and only a couple of minutes earlier, almost created a goal for Dan James. Very strange substitution. And doesn’t matter what level of football it is, always have men on posts at corner kicks. Why is willly Gnonto always designated to mark the biggest opponent at set pieces as well? You’ve got Rodon and Bamford both 6 foot plus lads standing, not picking any player up?! Still it’s a point, and we never lost, and still top of the league. Marching on together.

Decent shout mot. I thought the same about trying sol through the middle . I must admit I’m not a fan of BA. He certainly runs around, but for all his experience, including international, severely lacks composure, and a stiff breeze would blow him over. But certainly worth a try. Farke clearly likes him as he’s started every game, bar the first two games of the season, due to travelling with USA internationals.
