I haven't seen the game yet and, from the comments here, I am not sure that I want to put myself through the additional pain of actually watching it.
I have seen various theories to explain why the team has gone from unbeatable to also-rans, none of which can be totally discounted.
I have a question from left field that may explain everything.
I have a vague recollection of seeing a reference to a curse being placed on Leeds many years ago.
Is this true or just an urban myth?
If true, can someone please organise an exorcism (or whatever you do for curses) during the week.
I am happy to pay for a sacrificial chicken if that is required, but cannot help if the ritual requires the involvement of a virgin.

Well this team just not good enough will next season be any better can’t see it as half will be replaced with what we will have to see never mind we got 90 points seems to me that points is better than promotion for some still only another 15 years to go.

Beg to differ on it being a myth. I recall a rare interview with the Don who said there was a curse and either he or someone else in that era enacted the bizarre ritual the adviser recommended.

Just found a rare article which confirms I am correct. Don believed there was a curse and the adviser he hired was a gypsy.
