Talk below of Cooper possibly being a Leeds United Legend

For me to be a footballing Legend a player has to have essentially ALL of the following

1) a supreme talent and skill be that defending or attacking

2) show tremendous attitide, desire, 110% on pitch every game, an inspiration, a leader ( not necessarily captain)

3) always loyal to his club, team comes first

Revie's era so many Legends . Bremner, Gray, Lorimer etc etc etc

Wilko's era Strachan of course

Lucas the Chief Radebe of course

But imo Cooper falls short on criteria 1 supreme talent

For me the only player in the Bielsa era and before and after say 2014 to 2023 time frame that satisfies all three criteria for Legendary Leeds United player is :

Pablo Hernandez.

Agree Baz ?.

As much as I liked Pablo, I’m not sure he is a legend of the club any more than Coops will be regarded.

You describe supreme talent as a prerequisite, I would say he was not this. First and foremost, he played at a lower level while at Leeds predominantly (Championship) and though he was nearing the end of his career (not far off the age as Coops is now) , he didn’t really “do it” in the EPL for us. You could argue, in his “Peak” for Swansea, he didn’t really cut it either in that he was sold and loaned out.

Supreme talent would have more than 4 international caps.

2 out of 3 ain't bad Baz, is it?
He wore the shirt with pride. He gets us, unlike many others that have come and gone.
For me, Coops, I am thanking you for your efforts, your commitment, not the looking at the mistakes you have made in games. Good luck pal, you legend you.

Exactly Dill indeed.

Stuart Dallas?

Some of Revie's players didn't win 4 International Caps but are still legends to me and they had talent.

Dougie i understand your sentiments.

A reasonable suggestion Aus.

Probably that's all that counts Aggro. If you think he is, to you he is.

It’s difficult to call any player at Leeds Utd a club legend unless he has competed and been successful in the top tier of football for the club.
Legend seems to be a fashionable word that is dished out too readily in my opinion.

For me, I think at that time and how he made us all feel, Pablo is definitely deserving of being called a Leeds legend. Was instrumental in promotion, which goes a long way with me. A joy to watch, albeit it below EPL.

Won't argue with others opinions, though, just on a personal level I rate him as that.

What Dill said re Pablo . you get it Dill

Shall NEVER forget Pablo. iconic and legendary for me.

19 Jan 2024 14:27:20
Not sure about Pablo. Good and bad for me.
