Haven’t really got going at all yet today.
Also today shows just how vital Ampadu is to the set up, Gruev can’t be in as a replacement for him, too slow both in terms of pace but also moving the ball.
I’d be tempted to bring on Tanaka and Nmecha at HT for Okafor and Gruev.
It’s definitely a game that’s there to be won though.

Gruev was fantastic vs Liverpool, but he just isn't the same kind of player as Amps. He does tho give a greater physicality and defensive cover than Tanaka. I'd reckon Ao to come on when Man U MF tires, given their own lack of experience on their bench.

I think a draw was a 'fair' result today.

Lads gave everything epitomised by BA's goal. Just sheer pressing, never giving up.

A better forward would have stuck at least one of the chances that Sesko had away.

I was very annoyed that the commentators could only focus on Man U's absences. Bogle, Rodon, and Ampadu huge losses for a newly promoted team, but no its all the hardship faced by Man U. I get they had absences, but apart from the briefest of acknowledgements around Amapadu all they could focus on was them.

Piroe so nearly won it for us, but wouldn't mind if he was moved on for net even. See if Ipswich or Middlesbrough will cough off 10m and +5m if they win promotion.

04 Jan 2026 11:37:30
Anyone have any idea why Bogle’s not working even on the bench?

I might add that the bench line up is exactly why the club must strengthen this month.

And chambers but not gray. Weird. Is Bogle off somewhere?

04 Jan 2026 12:00:12
Aus, it would be madness to sell Bogle now, unless it’s like £30m+. We would need to replace him, still need cover at LWB, CB, ATM and St.
Think Harry G is off out on loan.

We need to off load Harrison and Piroe

Troy Parrott would be an awful signing at the reported £26m.

Surely we can’t be thinking of selling Jayden. Maybe in the summer for PSR but I guess if the price is right but got to be £30+ as I say.

Minor calf injury.

04 Jan 2026 13:19:33
Ok with calf injury cj. Justin having a good game. Bijol and gabby huge. They shading it in my opinion and we got not much other than Willy to have an impact. Anyway. See how we go.

04 Jan 2026 15:00:56
Ausman agree we need to give Gray a go before we lose him to .

04 Jan 2026 10:21:13
Mornin siblings, just off to meet an old mukka who alas crossed to the dark side many years ago, but he challenged me to watch the match with him in his local so here we go 😁 here is hoping mystic Aus was right with his all home wins having got his one away last night lol.

Enjoy, got a feeling we are going to be very happy bunnies later UTWDTP.

Think Sunderland have dug in and pretty safe so happy for them to win today. Also Newcastle to beat slippy sliddy palace too. Let’s get crowded.

Unfortunately we have to respect where they are. They have won more games than us cause overall they have better players. We both have key players out so will now see who has the better team and spirit rather than individuals. I was flippant with my 4-0 prediction and will be very very happy for any win as it won’t be easy at all.

An Arsenal win will do nicely today don't you think? Oh and obviously a Leeds win tomorrow too😉.

Would be awesome to leapfrog Bournemouth, and particularly Iraola, who turned us down before going there.
No matter how bad they've been, Man U still higher in the league, with a much more valuable and experienced squad than us; 3 points is a big ask, but I want all of 'em! The win could catapult us to the next level psychologically!

03 Jan 2026 22:32:09
A win tomorrow would be massive for us after today's results. The atmosphere will be electric, so I hope the team play the game and not the occasion. Can't wait!

03 Jan 2026 17:02:54
Well done Wolves and Brighton. Great stuff let’s hope the lads do the biz tomorrow.

Couldn't ask for a better Saturday . Now let's spank the moaners tomorrow .

03 Jan 2026 17:32:50
And Villa, and hopefully Arsenal too. All we need to do now is win tomorrow against they who must not be named.

A fair assessment I would say ED, though definitely tinged with the angst of a Pool supporter which detracts as you say from our performance. I would say it was a compliment to you that this was the first time this season we have set up for this approach and credit to DF for his tactics, credit to the lads to carve out an unlikely point which was invaluable.

The progression of all involved in our resurgence these last few weeks is a joy to behold.

{Ed001's Note - there has been a massive improvement from Wolves, and I felt bad that I was talking so much about Liverpool being poor. We were, but that was in part down to how well you played. The stats say Perri made 4 saves, but I can't remember him even making one!}

03 Jan 2026 16:50:47
I guess you mean Leeds dude not Wolves 😁😆.

{Ed001's Note - sorry, I am watching the Wolves game as I typed and had a Konate moment.}

03 Jan 2026 16:56:46
Well to be fair ED this Wolves performance has been coming, they have definitely improved big time recently.

{Ed001's Note - true, they are just a bit further behind the curve than Leeds. Looks like you are going to be fine now, surely there is no way that West Ham team can catch you? And Forest look just as bad under Dyche.}

03 Jan 2026 17:23:24
Well yeah, maybe there is a lesson there? The 3 teams who sacked early are still poor and all in the bottom 4, I guess be careful what you wish for! We can't be caught when it is mathematically impossible, until then? The way we are playing lots is possible I guess!

03 Jan 2026 17:38:27
You would have to say as well that Wet Spam are paying the price for complacency. So they are bringing in 4 players apparently, spent £29 million on a striker, but it smacks of desperation. They now have 18 games to turn it around. Takes what, 6/ 8 games for players to integrate? No one ever has an instant impact.

They got £55 million for Kudus in the summer, didn't use it. Each bad result makes it more desperate. If Wolves go on a run the pressure mounts more. We can't be complacent, ever, but every point chiselled from our current position is invaluable.

Is Arne Slot's Time At Liverpool Running Out?

Interesting read, also think Silva would be a great coaching option, I appreciate there is constant focus upon Salah (unfairly at times) but losing Diaz to BM was a huge loss to Liverpool.

Can see similarities between our own coach and slot in that DF change in approach, proactiveness, more direct approach turned us around, where as currently slots stubbornly continues to set up and play at such a laboured pace, which certainly helped us in terms of maintaining our shape and securing a relatively comfortable draw with a weakened team.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Slot gone before the end of this season, if he doesn’t quickly change his approach.

03 Jan 2026 13:17:40
I did notice that a lot of the time pool players complained on field they had no one to pass to or throw to. I think the draw was about our energy and organisation. Pool have quick players that seemingly chose the wrong options to them most of the time.
They had no determination and seemed to give up easy to me.

03 Jan 2026 20:05:48
Farke's use of the offside trap more than ever, and Perri going long with most plays from the back also hindered any attempts Luverpool had to find a rhythm. Tactical tweaks here and there having an impact too.
