Leeds being linked with Pantelis Chatzidiakos from Alkmaar for a relatively low fee (around 2.5m) .

Also reports that we're still (yes still) talking to Liverpool about Phillips for a fee of 10m if all adds on are met. So a bit cheaper than the direct 10m that was being talked about earlier if i understand it.

I think Preston are the team I've hated the most this season over the two games.

Not sure how they ended on the pitch with 11 players.

Game 1: Provoke Meslier pushes a guy in the face - rolls on the floor red card, fine its the rules I don't like it - Meslier needs to be more switched on there to it.

Today, I don't mind physical games, but challenges where you go in purely to hurt someone, or know you have no chance to win a ball fairly (a gently tactical foul aside) . I have no time for you.

The body check on James in the first half - awful.

Robbie Brady checking Gray into the ad hoardings - knew exactly what he was doing.

Ledson foul that led to the fracas where Rutter ends up on the floor but the only one booked is Bamford (did anyone see what he did? ) .

A few others too on the likes of Summerville etc, makes the rolling around after the Meslier shove even more hilarious.

Our yellows by comparison weren't 'lets hurt' them yellows. Rutter dive (idiot) , Firpo - wasn't even a foul let alone a yellow, Bamford couldn't see what led to it.

Never particularly had anything for or against Preston before, but really hate the current version of their side. Was laughing when Ledson gave the pen away.

Leeds always, but there would be days where I wouldn't want us to win if we played like Preston did today.

The team spirit seems strong - Bamford holding the ball for Piroe, taking the nonsense from the keeper, Piroe seems totally accepting of losing his starting role for now and delivering from the bench - long may it continue!

Rutter was kicked in the shin, if you watch the replay is as clear as day!

2.) 21 Jan 2024 15:13:47
Don't Blame Preston Ealing! Most of our players are soft! we get pushed around far too easy.

3.) 21 Jan 2024 15:15:51
I love how Rutter plays, but he really needs to cut the diving out of his game. He does it a lot and I hate to see it.

4.) 21 Jan 2024 15:16:09
It’s been like that in a lot of games Ealing this season, they know they can’t beat us playing football and they also know that refs are very lenient in the Champo.
I was fuming also at most of their tackles and the ref not being harder on the offenders.
Preston are dirty filthy players who deserved what they got today.
I hate this league and the sooner we are out of it the better, we definitely do not belong here!

5.) 21 Jan 2024 15:23:46
My message to Ryam Lowe. Tough.

6.) 21 Jan 2024 15:46:38
Rutter was fouled, clear as day. The ref was very weak against Preston in general today, and yes, they should have seen second yellows in certain instances. We battered them in the second half, and I disagree Hooksie bro, that we are soft. We give as good as we get, and don’t stand for dirt, as we saw with Archie’s reaction, and BamBam’s general “housery” on their CB’s.

7.) 21 Jan 2024 15:52:57
A load of bitter nonsense contradictory post match comments from Preston " coach"

8.) 21 Jan 2024 17:10:23
For sure, Baz.

Paintsil deal sounds dead - allegedly because Leeds met an asking price then Genk moved the goalposts.

Amiri can't decide so move on.

I don't mind if we don't get either now - Paintsil indicative that we won't be held to ransom now after Orta - we met your fee you changed your mind went back on it that's your prerogative. Amiri - as Farke and Cooper say - either you want to be here or you don't. End of.

Lewis O'Brien offer them £7m all in now or a 500K loan fee with £9.5m deal contingent on us going up and O'Brien having started 20+ games (if the lad breaks a leg halfway through or turns out to be Eunan O'Kane the club need some protection. Lower up front fee and clauses reflect this.

Luke Thomas has one yr left and Phil Hay seems to think we're interested in him.

Offer them £5m now or again a 500K loan and we have first rights to negotiate a permanent deal for him. Personally I'd almost rather we paid £5m now for him - if he does well we'd fight with other clubs as he approaches free agency.

Djed Spence and Glen Kamara could also be possible deals.

Seems nailed on that Drameh is going if we're so keen on Spence.

Talk now is that Amiri flew in to the uk today and Paintsil is still on.
His issue is with Genk and an unpaid loyalty bonus.
IF we can get these 2 and another midfielder lb and Rb I mean Tomas and Spence! Wow we sure as hell won the window in this last week.
I can still see one of sini or Willy going though.

2.) 28 Aug 2023 18:06:35
Looks like Amiri is off.

3.) 28 Aug 2023 18:12:01
Back on. All within the hour.

4.) 28 Aug 2023 19:14:59
That guy has decision making issues, hope it doesn't affect how he plays, should I pass, no I won't bother, yes I will, nah.

27 Aug 2023 14:21:15
Remarkably, within days our squad may look like

GKs

Meslier
Darlow

RB

Ayling
Drameh
(Shackleton)

CB

Rodon
Struijk
Cresswell
Cooper
Kris Moore
(Ayling)

LB

Firpo
Byram
(Shackleton)
(Dallas)

CM/ CDM

Gray
Ampadu
Kamara
Greenwood
Shackleton
(Bate)
(Dallas)

Attacking Mid / Wingers

Gnonto
Sinisterra
Summerville
James
Rutter

Strikers

Piroe
Bamford
Gelhardt
Joseph

I honestly think that'll be enough for the play-offs. If we did a natural left back and a playmaker type that improved the starting 11 then its an automatic promotion squad. Wary as any Leeds fan with a memory should be of financial over-extension (and FFP) but I get the sense this lot are not Bates or Ridsdale so if they do deals it'll be with secure funding behind it.

Ealing BKB

1.) 27 Aug 2023 14:27:05
12 of them I’d never choose to start. But anyway. Dorothy.

2.) 27 Aug 2023 15:01:16
Insufficient for playoffs. That squad misses out and achieves 10th.

3.) 27 Aug 2023 15:10:16
Hejld, Poveda, Gyabi also in the squad

Plus also chasing Paintsil and Amiri

Good players tend to make the players around them better. The skill of the manager is to get the players playing to their strengths as a unit
So Farke's big task is to get the defence sorted with what we have and maybe one more. We still need a couple in mid field for a long hard season and hopefully if we can hang on to all our attacking players we should be in contention

We also have the January window to fill any gaps.

4.) 27 Aug 2023 18:10:39
We need CMs badly.

5.) 28 Aug 2023 05:01:58
Corky Think they're on horizon.

6.) 28 Aug 2023 06:28:57
Could yet end up with another 3 midfielders….

12 Aug 2023 14:30:11
Squad so bare today we two keepers on the bench just to make the numbers. Gnonto even more annoying - get the money and get him out.

Ealing BKB

1.) 12 Aug 2023 15:34:51
Very annoying when he refuses to play when the squad is threadbare because of injuries. A disgraceful attitude from him, probably along with his agent.

06 Aug 2023 23:34:14
Thinking we just sell Adams for that £20-25m now.

Not that he's a bad player at all just a victim of circumstance. He doesn't seem to have pushed the deal but inj at the moment - the interest from other clubs is concrete. Let's say its 25m.

That would afford us Hamer for midfield (10-12m) and Phillips (10m)

probably there'd be 5m or so left over leaving enough to work on a left back.

Yes that would leave us short up front (so we'd have to sell one of the wingers) but i'm ok with that particularly seeing how good Poveda looked in his cameo today.

If he plans on selling imminently then its not such a big deal - maybe needed the cash quicker than negotiations with 49ers could progress - and then when he sold he'd have the cash as collateral or could pay off the loan.

If he plans to invest in both concurrently then I'm super annoyed because A. he doesn't have the cash evidently to be competitive for Leeds let alone being involved in two clubs. B. It shows a callous disregard for fans and the community feel of the club.

I have no hate for Harrison, unlike a lot of the players who upped and left, he had actually been here and contributed a lot - helped us get promoted, and his hattrick against West Ham and goal vs. Brentford helped us stay up two years ago - not quickly forgotten in my book. Compared to Koch and Llorente who had one good year or six months respectively, Aaronson who had one good game (Chelsea) , Kristensen who never seemed to have a good game, Adams who was good for about 15 games before getting hurt and then running to Bournemouth.

Jack's problem was he could be very very good but streaky - if he wasn't in the game he wasn't in it at all - no middle ground and more the latter than the former. If he came back I wouldn't mind it (if he does it means Everton went down) .

Sinisterra is the harder one to absolve - pushed for his exit, sounds like there might have been legal issues if he wasn't allowed. Then again Sinisterra quite obviously has a higher ceiling than Harrison - if he can stay healthy, think not being an immediate starter for Bournemouth probably helped him stay healthy.

If we go up and Bournemouth clearly want him we should be doubling our money on him. I read talk that they wanted to do a deal in Jan for him to mitigate our potential promotion which would invalidate a clause letting him join them in the event we don't get promoted.

£20m release clause is only relevant if we don't go up. They clearly like him so are trying to guarantee they secure him. Personally if they give us £25m and Anthony permanently, let them take him. That would give us a profit on Sinisterra + a competent replacement who wants to be here and clearly has a camamaderie with the squad given the support when he lost his mum.

Call it like Football Manager where they have three categories: Legends, Icons and Favoured Personnel, the list below is what it has on all (not my personal) , in no particular order

Legends: Gordan Strachan, Marcelo Bielsa, Peter Lorimer, Eddie Gray, Howard Wilkinson, Jack Charlton, Norman Hunter, Gary Speed, Lucas Radebe, John Charles, Don Revie, Billy Bremner, Allan Clarke, Paul Madeley, David Batty

Icons: Gary Mcallister, Pablo Hernandez, Gary Kelly, Mark Viduka, Nigel Martyn, Vinnie Jones, Tony Yeboah.

Favoured Personnel: Andy Hughes, Raphinha, Mateusz Klich, Stuart Dallas, Liam Cooper, Bobby Collins, Luke Ayling, Gaetano Berardi, Jermaine Beckford, Ian Harte, Dominic Matteo.

There's a few naturally that would argue that should feature and don't at all or are too high or too low (Reaney should feature) - before my time) ? Wouldn't mind seeing Paddy Kisnorbo and Kalvin under 'favoured personnel' if we used the FM metrics. I'd probably downgrade Batty from legend to Icon, and Jones from Icon to favoured personnel, and promote Martyn from Icon to Legend but that's just me. Nice to see the FM metric doesn't just do recents or even the 70s - you see representation from Collins and Charles from even earlier - nice to see.

Based in Ealing unsurprisingly, I haven't made to very many the below probably accounts for 50% of all live matches for me - but to share some of the more memorable matches i've been to.

First: Away day 2002/ 2003 - at St Mary's vs. Southampton 2:3 Loss that flattered us as we scored in injury time. Was 8yrs old and my Gran who lived in Hampshire, her neighbour managed to get tickets for us. Starstruck by Nigel Martyn (who had been benched briefly before leaving for Everton) during the warm-up. Always had an irrational dislike of Robinson for taking Nigel's place (I know it was Venables, but still) .

11 April 2009: Second game, and first at Elland Road. Utterly unremarkable game (1:0 vs. Stockport, Howson goal) Spent about two hours in the shop trying to buy everything. Loved every minute regardless.

Best. Jan 3rd 2010 - After ringing my Dad so excited after we drew Man U in the FA Cup 3rd round, he tried to buy tickets very very late as an xmas gift. Turns out they had only hospitality left. And he got them! We sat in the home end at Old Trafford with our Leeds shirts on under about nine layers it was so cold the car about broke down over the M62 on the way. Took so much crap from all my Chelsea/ Arsenal/ Man U fans (in the locality I always respected Brentford fans especially back in those days) , I couldn't wait for school the next day.

Worst: Literally a few months later playing Swindon at home and lose 0:3 to Austin and Paynter. One of those forwards was the real deal, one wasn't. Despondent as I truly believed we were going to blow promotion again.

Bielsa Days: Just two games under the great man - 0:1 FA Cup at the Emirates when we were flying high in the Championship - we lost but what a game we were amazing in the first half. Think it was Meslier's debut too. My old boss and great friend then gave up his Hammers season ticket for me. I say oh you can't go? He said nah I could but I know how much it means to you and how difficult it can be to get tickets, go. A class act bettered by a Jack Harrison hattrick in what might have been the dying throes of the Bielsa era.

Bonus: Away day at Fratton Park in the Champ. 2:2 famous for the floodlights failing twice and my dad meeting Eddie Gray in line for the men's. Was beyond jealous but actually in terms of luck glad it happened to him as my dad saw him in his pomp - could relate to it more as much as I'd have enjoyed it. Also, Davide Somma - underrated and unlucky forward. Never talked about enough thought he was blossoming into a 25 goal champ forward before injury bit- scored that day with his first touch from the bench.

Purely because he's young (and American - owners will want to target their home market) can see Aaronson given a chance too.
