Roll up roll up for the annual Leeds United drop your knickers and bend over car boot sale . First on the chopping block one young fresh faced winger who at 17 years old has the potential to be a present day Eddie Gray . Happy to sell to any Premier League team prepared to check how much small change has fallen behind the back of the sofa . Next up Baby Shack . You read it here's first guys . If we are not in the running for promotion or fail to go up he will be gone in one of the next two windows!

Of course. This is how the modern day game works especially when you have no money.

RHC, Eddie Gray played for the club in a different age when football wasn’t the business it is today. If you want a football world where it is all about money then this is what you get, Agents, players and clubs all focusing on the cash. The Eddie Grays of today are not staying at clubs where they started and who can blame them. This deal sets JC up for life and takes him to a club, bigger than us now, with prospects of European football and long cup runs and with a reputation for developing good English players. Things can change but it will take time and you are right other JCs will be lost in the process. The key is what is done with the money and if he is loaned back how much can we get from him in this year. You think he will become a genius but you’re not in a position to do anything about it. On the flip side this might be the best professional contract he is ever offered!

RHC With you brother.

24 Jun 2019 14:17:12
There must be more interested parties than Spurs however we seem to be allowing Levy to dictate a misery transfer fee. Tail wagging the dog.

24 Jun 2019 14:43:25
22 million plus in sales 10 million plus investment sponsors and highest attendances and season tickets in years plus merchandise. How the fcuk are we broke. I thought we were being run properly.

24 Jun 2019 14:30:30
I do wonder, sometimes, whether the great players of the past would have been such one-club-legends if they were playing today.
The likes of Bremner, Giles, Gray could have walked in to any professional football side in the world. Surely the money would have turned their heads too

So, just like Rose, Milner, Lennon, Delph, Byram, Taylor and Cook before him, I have no qualms about Clarke making sure his financial future is secure. Hopefully he still looks out for our results and we can still be proud that our lads are doing well.

Just read an article in the Telegraph (free from Waitrose. other supermarkets are available) about Chelsea loanees. midfielder Mount, and centre-backs Tomori and Clarke-Ealter.
There must be dozens of talented young players that will never become established at their parent clubs that Biesla and his talent spotters can work with.

Thought we were being run properly how can we have no money.

24 Jun 2019 14:40:53
Spanish . I’m not questioning JC’s motivations, although at 17 and at his home town club, I seriously doubt he’s that desperate to get away or can appreciate fully the difference between 20 k a week, which he could be on in the championship and say 50 k at Spurs . This deal is purely driven by the level of ambition of and financing behind the current regime . Us long suffering fans deserve better . Given that you obviously love the club as much as I do, I don’t understand how you can be so apparently sanguine about it all . Furthermore, if we are going to sell, then at least get market rate . The Bristol City fullback I’ve never heard of just went for £13m for Christ’s sake .

24 Jun 2019 14:43:37
IF the money is reinvested it may be better for LUFC to get players who can help us now rather than keep a player who may be brilliant in 3 years time. our focus has got to be getting out of the 2nd division asap. Something Clarke didn't really help us with enough last year.

24 Jun 2019 14:45:29
Tell a lie . Just checked Lloyd Kelly to Bournemouth for £15 m!

24 Jun 2019 14:56:59
RHC. You can't understand why someone who's dream it is to play football at the highest level for a living would want to go to a club who were in the Champs League final a few weeks ago, one of the best clubs in the best league in the world at the moment, work with (another) great coach, be in with the chance of winning honours at an amazing stadium and get noticed by your country?

Really?

24 Jun 2019 14:58:57
Axe - unfortunately our talent spotter is Orta who couldn't spot a player if his life depended on it.

24 Jun 2019 15:01:44
Alf the kid was 17 last year and still turned a number of games before his illness . After a full Summer of further body strengthening and development and another MB pre season there would be a lot more to come . And if you are going to sell then at least get market rate which is around £15 m, based on DJ and Lloyd Kelly deals .

24 Jun 2019 17:09:57
RHC I wasn't referring to us selling I was talking about Clarke's desire to leave. If he didn't want to go he wouldn't but Clarke is clearly perfectly happy about the deal.

We have no strength in negotiations because we have no money. Worse than that we actually need to sell because we are making a loss and our Chairman refuses to put any money in. Mainly, I suspect, because he doesn't have any money.

24 Jun 2019 18:24:59
RHC, our “ long suffering fans” have just had the best season of football we have seen for ages at just about all levels. We have lots of good young players coming through, we are in the financial position that we can spend well over 30 million on salaries without breaking the bank. All we are doing on here at the moment is repeating the same old stuff which comes down to whether you are pro Radz or not based on what you believe. When I go to the games at first team and under 23 level. I just don’t get the discontent and negativity that appears a lot on here.

I perhaps don’t see the premier league as the holy grail that perhaps you do. I enjoy seeing Leeds play good football and at levels and creating teams that can compete at the top of their leagues. We’ve kept Bielsa and we’ve kept Corberan, two important reasons for our success last year. So far we haven’t lost any key players. So far, I’m happy and looking forward to us getting into the friendly games and seeing who makes a strong case for the first team.

24 Jun 2019 18:29:43
Spanishleeds makes you wonder if we will ever again be able to fund a team to meet to days standard at top level, think we will be middle until major investment comes in,

24 Jun 2019 18:38:24
Are we only selling because we need the funds to allow us to get players in? As RHC said if we are selling why so cheap at least get something nearer the value we believe he is worth. See we are supposedly putting 30 million valuation on KP, or is it we will take 15. We are being run properly or so we are told, full house most home games (not the cheapest team to watch) so why are we skint?

24 Jun 2019 18:57:03
Whiteman, depends what your definition of “top level “ is, if you mean a team to match Man City, Liverpool, Barcelona etc, might take a few summers. However if you mean a team that can beat the likes of West Brom, Derby, We did that last year and I've so far seen nothing to make me think we can’t be up there again. Are we really going to give up on the team before a ball has been seriously kicked!

24 Jun 2019 19:26:18
We'll take 8 for KP as well.

24 Jun 2019 20:16:19
Gotta say, @ a potential £13 mill for a 17 year old, why are we whining? We’ve sold a lot more proven, and better players for much less, even accounting for the ridiculously inflated prices these days.
