I am concerned that a replacement for Jansson will not be sourced during this window and that our centre back pool will be Cooper, White, Berardi and Strujik. Bielsa doesn't want too many options for positions as displayed last season when our options were Cooper, Jansson, Berardi and Halme.

Supposed to be after some “wonderkid” 21 year old from Arsenal. I’ll take a good wonderkid from there any day of the week!

2.) 07 Jul 2019 13:21:41
You’d hope but Arsenal have lacked quality CBs since George graham (who? ) stopped signing them.

3.) 07 Jul 2019 14:57:33
And Cooper gets injured week 2.

06 Jul 2019 22:14:35
I am sure it is pure coincidence but the sale of Clarke and Jansson covers the transfer fee for Costa next season.

1.) 07 Jul 2019 04:49:17
Still leaves us short of the loans for this season and our losses.

13 Jun 2019 13:56:42
Villa are apparently interested in Phillips for £14m. Would not want to lose one of our better performers from last season however he is not worth £14m so I would probably take it.

NottsWhite

1.) 13 Jun 2019 14:57:00
Not worth it. ? Team
If the season player. Grealish had a £50m tag on him. Kalvin has him in his pocket . no less than £20 m.
⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️👍👍.

2.) 13 Jun 2019 15:02:06
Other rumour is swap with wolves for Helder! Thank goodness these clubs aren’t talking to Bermo or they’d only be offering a monkey!

3.) 13 Jun 2019 15:23:49
I’d probably take 15 million or Helder and some cash. Bielsa has improved his play and value over one season. He has the chance of premiership football and we get a reasonable return when his second year in the position might not be a good. If we need some cash, possibly one f the least painful options, Forshaw on the books and Bielsa possibly sees other possibilities.

4.) 13 Jun 2019 16:00:48
think of brexit no deal.

5.) 13 Jun 2019 16:02:37
I'd take it or any better offer if we could negotiate it.
Shackleton would be perfect for that role IMO.

6.) 13 Jun 2019 17:43:42
Are you guys serious?! Do you want promotion next year or not?! KP is essential for a promotion campaign! Doesn’t matter if we even get £20 m as it won’t all be invested back in the team anyway . Spanish, Forshaw is not fit to lace KP’s boots in that defensive shield position . Have you forgotten about the careless play from him that led to a number of goals last season already?!

7.) 13 Jun 2019 19:20:18
Red Hot, everyone has his price and his value. Your view of KP isn’t shared by everyone on here. During the year there was careless play from quite a few people. On top of that he might actually fancy having a go at the premiership. Before the start of the season KP wasn’t thought of as a superb player in that position. No reason to believe someone else couldn’t succeed as well. However I’ll go with Bielsas judgement, I’m sure he would have made it perfectly clear if he is prepared to accept the sale of KP.

8.) 13 Jun 2019 20:07:35
If KP goes it’s just another nail in Rads coffin as far as I’m concerned as well as many others . That goes for Clarke too, who has every chance of being a £50 m to £ 100 m player one day .

9.) 14 Jun 2019 11:08:47
Anyone willing to take 15mill for KP is a fool. He is the sort of player you need at the club. Made EFL team in the first year he has played that position and will improve next season although i think he should be used further forward. You want his kind around the dressing room and for me he his 25mill+. Who will you replace him with, Diaz not ready for a full campaign yet and Foreshaw should be on his way out in my opinion along with Dallas.

10.) 14 Jun 2019 13:41:06
Dallas' finishing was sublime in the playoff game - I would try him out as a center forward personally. Get rid of Bam-average instead.

11.) 15 Jun 2019 20:44:56
Under no circumstances should KP be sold. The boy is Leeds thro an thro, born and bred, and we need those, at least one of them, in our team. Like him, or loathe him, we need Leeds blood on that pitch, and I know Kal would do anything for our club.

4.) 26 May 2019 20:35:33
Yeah it’s probably the skint cousin of the PSG owner without two Euro’s to rub together.

5.) 27 May 2019 12:56:09
To be fair can it get mch worse as it seems Radz is not planning to buy anyone during the summer according to the 72, even if we sell. If Radz has no intention of investing I wish he would just foxtrot oscar, instead he is hoping to get promoted on the cheap and then sell the club.

21 Oct 2018 10:54:45
Possession in football isn't always nine tenths of the law, it is what you do with the ball that counts. Glad to see Hernandez back because he adds to creativity of the team and takes the focus off Saiz. A fit Roofe "sniffing" around the six yard box will offer more than Roberts who is still learning the game and operates around the penalty spot/ edge of the box.

3 points is all that matters and I will continue to take 1-0 victories. Last night we started a tad scrappy and seemed to be forcing the issue by giving the ball away constantly (Hernandez was a major culprit) . We then settled down and for a 10-15 spell put Middlesborough on the backfoot and eventually forced the goal. Defensively we held firm (apart from the shot that hit the bar) although I think White in the DM role is a waste. Chances again wasted, in particular Dallas and Bamford who is playing with absolutely no confidence but no pressure from the bench. Augustine out injured with a hamstring strain therefore we must persist with Bamford for the run in. A poor piece of business in the window by the club as I suspect we will not see Augustine start this season. Positives, a win, defensive solidity, good performances from Klich, White and the back four. Negatives, wasting limited chances and crossing from the wings still a bit hit and miss.

NottsWhite

1.) 27 Feb 2020 09:08:27
My thoughts on Radz and Orta on their terrible incompetent recruitment are well documented. but it's now looking like they have surpassed themselves in incompetency this past transfer window.

2.) 27 Feb 2020 09:32:14
Was wondering where big Kev was. Rads and Orta can’t predict injuries injuries tho!
Personally wanted to see Jordan Stevens get 20 mins for Costa, and thought Harrison and Klich were fantastic.

3.) 27 Feb 2020 09:46:49
Bright you are correct but they can be held accountable for bringing in an unfit striker who is probably busting a gut to get fit therefore increasing the risk of injury.

4.) 27 Feb 2020 10:04:48
Brighty . Radz and Orta have spent £2 million in loan fees and wages on JKA knowing that he is, not ready to play due to his lack of fitness. and has hardly played all season . so it is not really surprising to see it seems JKA getting injured trying to reach Bielsas level of fitness

. Poveda isn't a first team signing.

so the first team squad has in reality not really been strengthened again for the crucial run in

Anyway. onwards. 11 crucial games . come on Bielsa and the players.

5.) 27 Feb 2020 10:14:44
We’re doing ok without them at the moment.

6.) 27 Feb 2020 10:30:35
That was a hard watch last night as poor as boro really are we, were never comfortable against them there would really have to be so much work done to that 1st team if we do go up . The question is 2fold, if bielsa was to stay, Would he actually drop any of his core favourites on the team, (knowing his reluctance to change) .
Also would Our great leader ever pay the rate involved to get prem quality into the team?

7.) 27 Feb 2020 10:37:39
True Taddy but why make it harder on ourselves and what do we do if we do need the extra players but they are not available/ match fit?

8.) 27 Feb 2020 11:10:56
We also managed to grind out a result without KP, and hopefully he'll be fit enough for Saturday. KP's absence last night also means that even if he picks up a yellow in each of the next two games, he won't reach the 10-card mark ahead of the 37 match cut-off so, barring a red card or injury, he should be available for the following games at Baadiff and home to Fulham.

9.) 27 Feb 2020 11:15:50
Fair points Notts and Baz, so won’t argue re Kev.
I think re Poveda, that Bielsa said he was capable and fit enough, but would have to edge his way past Jordan Stevens, who has earned his place in the squad, and on the bench, which is a positive in some ways.

10.) 27 Feb 2020 11:32:57
sorry but i don't think we held firm last night i think we was shocking but luckly borough was worse and couldn't make us pay

three times they cut us open on the counter attack but then there final ball let them down with the goal wide open, not to mention the back pass from hell and them hitting the bar. then beradi could of been sent off but ref didn't even give a foul?

white at defensive mid is a waste of a player he just don't get involved and beradi is a joke of a player. last night we got away with it but against better teams we would of been beaten. trouble is we have a lot harder games than borough coming up and last night only papered over our defensive cracks.

belisa is on 6 million a year better paid than southgate and if his answer is beradi at centre back and white as DM he is not worth the money. Last night was a let off not a great defensive display.

11.) 27 Feb 2020 11:42:11
Chris was wondering where you had been during the past 3 games / victories 😊.

12.) 27 Feb 2020 12:14:13
BW, I only remember Casilla making one save and yes they hit the bar and they had two shots wide, but a clean sheet is holding firm. On another day we may had conceded one or two but we didn't, count our blesses. I assume that your comment re: Bielsa's salary in comparison to Southgate's is poetic licence, as your figures are way out. Agree with White at DM, waste of a good player.

13.) 27 Feb 2020 13:14:19
Been here all the while vidooks but not commenting ( and not because we won 3 neither ) Last night was a awful game of football to watch though . Lack of a bench currently is showing, No kalvo we are a different team.

14.) 27 Feb 2020 13:26:37
I also agree re white at DM, but that is no reflection on Berra, by any means.

15.) 27 Feb 2020 13:35:14
Good to know Chris .

16.) 27 Feb 2020 14:08:14
I the absence of KP Bermo, how would you set the team up?

17.) 27 Feb 2020 15:52:44
without kp it should be

alying cooper whit douglas
dallas

alying cooper white dallas
shack/ boguatz

or if yu must play the walking mistake then (not my prefered)

beradi alying cooper dallas
white

my point is beradi at cb costs us he is not good enough when the going gets tough. why ain't belisa learnt this? if beradi is the best option in belisa crazy mind then he had to get better in. a CB was out there better than him. i said williams and people said he ain't ball playing. neither is beradi only difference is one is a CB the other aint

belisa is paid too much to make the mistak of playing beradi cb.

18.) 27 Feb 2020 16:22:51
Bielsa salary article

might not be exact but lots of people saying he is on a big wage.

the biggest miss chance brough didn't even hit the target they cut us open, beradi was in no mans land but the final pass was way behind the striker giving coops a chance to cover but it should of been a goal

as for how i would set up without KP. either

Beradi alying cooper dallas (ayling less of a risk in the middle than beradi)

alying white cooper douglas
dallas

alying white cooper dallas
shacks/ bozagus

my point is beradi is no CB he cost us last year and is not upto the task. why don't Belisa learn would anyone want beradi centr back in playoffs (i said it would cost us last year and it did why make me right again)

if belisa answer was Beradi Cb then he had to get a cb in who is better. some one, any one just not beradi at CB it should never happen as better teams than middsleborough will make us pay.

Went to the game on Saturday with the feeling that it would be a drab affair with Reading playing a defensive game whilst trying to catch us on the break, unfortunately it did not disappoint. We had plenty of possession and created some chances but continue to be wasteful in front of goal however defensively we were solid albeit a slip in concentration at the end which could have cost us dear, well done Casilla. Crossing from Costa and Harrison still remains a bit hit and hope however Dallas showed the way with some very dangerous crosses. For all the good work that Bamford does outside the box I do find him to be a bit static inside the box. Making runs to get in front of the first centre back would have paid dividends to convert the crosses produced by Dallas. That being said it is about wins and I will take 1-0 to us every game during the run in.

NottsWhite

1.) 24 Feb 2020 13:03:55
Notts - I'd take 1-0 wins every game to the end of the season too, but don't think my hair will!

12 Feb 2020 10:39:27
Rumour that Forshaw is going to America for hip surgery and will be out for the rest of the season. Feel sorry for the player but question why this could not have been diagnosed earlier? Smacks of leaving or announcing the decision until after the transfer window as a tad suspect.

NottsWhite

1.) 12 Feb 2020 11:30:25
Not a rumour. He’s going. But will that give Shacks mor opportunities, or not? Gotts, McCalmont, McCarron? Doubt it somehow. ☹️.

2.) 12 Feb 2020 14:51:09
He was training a bit during the window and the club decided to give it until after the window shut before making a decision. Not sure why we didn’t just send him then and get a replacement in.

3.) 12 Feb 2020 16:02:24
Agree Alf. It was obviously something deep seated for him to be constantly in and out all the time.

12 Feb 2020 08:20:06
Given our recent run of form, a draw against one of the Championship contenders was a good result. Positives include; bossing the opposition on their own ground (except a 15 min spell after they scored) through retaining more quality possession and maintaining a high press when we did not have the ball. Keeping quiet a strike force that many pundits have waxed lyrical about, well done defence. Astute tactics to pin their left and right back through our wingers hugging the touch line being supplied with quality long passes. This definitely knocked Brentford out of their stride. Phillips was immense, glad to have him back. Negatives include; poor delivery of crosses from the wings. Despite getting a lot of joy by making their backs defend, when we attempted to cross it either hit the first man or was over hit. Harrison and Costa are not picking players out as much as hit and hope. Our finishing again was poor as both Harrison and Costa had good chances which both were hit with weak efforts. Individually we were better however Costa, Hernandez and Bamford did not have great games. Bamford I would excuse a little as he had little to work with but two half chances (at best) were ballooned over the bar, a sight we are seeing a little too often. Finally our goalkeeper. Be it that he is not good enough technically or he is struggling with external pressures, even his most ardent supporter must see that he is currently a liability. Gifted the opposition goal and could have easily done the same in the second half. Casilla needs time out of the firing line, because at the moment, he is good for a goal a game and I am not convinced we have the finishing quality to score two a game.

1.) 12 Feb 2020 09:02:15
Excellent post Notts.

2.) 12 Feb 2020 09:25:30
As ever Notts, an excellent post which I 100% agree with.

3.) 12 Feb 2020 10:08:21
Nice one Notts. It’s great to see someone coming on with a view to discussing the game, as opposed to complaining about something!
Even the written reviews say that our defensive line was “unusually resolute”, which is hopefully a positive sign of MB’s ability to motivate / help psychologically.
Kal was always going to be a miss, and we need him fit / not banned for the rest of the season.
I agree re the wingers, but for me, not just because of crosses, but inability to score! They should both be weighing in with 8-12 goals per season, as should Pabs and Klich, and had they done this, we would be up already.
Sh1th0u53 of the match award goes to Ben White for trying to undo their gks gloves!

4.) 12 Feb 2020 10:11:25
One of the best posts/ match analyses I have seen, even better than Bielsa!
To add what was interesting about Bielsa's report was how much detail he gave about a lot of players, what was telling was the ones he missed out.

5.) 12 Feb 2020 11:34:56
Great post Notts. Good to see a balanced analysis, giving praise where due and sensible criticism (no recourse to the hyperbole which seems to be some posters'default setting) where merited.

Good to see their heads didn't drop after Casilla's howler. Apart from that moment, we seemed to render their much vaunted 'BMW" look as sleek as a Robin Reliant - probably helped, as you by the pinning of their full-backs. Hopefully other managers will have noted that and use it to but further brakes on the Bees promotion push.

Casilla needs to be rested, to clear his head - so frustrating that Bielsa continues not to see that.

6.) 12 Feb 2020 18:18:26
We were once contenders, we were once 10 points clear, clearly you don't see us in that light anymore,

09 Feb 2020 19:16:53
Tyler Roberts injured again.

NottsWhite

1.) 09 Feb 2020 19:42:34
Again! Roberts, Forshaw and Douglas £12 million in transfer fees and add on considerable wages

. Orta classics. goodness.

2.) 09 Feb 2020 19:44:11
Now we know why the baggies got rid.

3.) 09 Feb 2020 20:26:58
Notts - Is this injury now confirmed (as in definitely missing Brentford) or are you just going on the supposedly precautionary use of crutches following yesterday's game. If the latter it would seem to be jumping the gun to state that he is 'injured again'.

4.) 09 Feb 2020 22:19:00
On crutches yes. If he doesn't have an injury why use crutches? I very much doubt he will be available on Tuesday.

5.) 09 Feb 2020 23:25:57
To be fair to the lad, it was a fairly heavy challenge. It is just possible that he felt a twinge and it was considered best to take a little weight off the leg just in case there was a problem, so as not to aggravate it, given his previous injuries.

If he misses the Brentford game as a further precaution, it might take just be the prelude to a long period injury free. Some players can just be unlucky with injuries for a time, without actually being injury prone (more naturally susceptible to injury than average) . Time will tell - he's still young.

6.) 10 Feb 2020 05:42:55
Forest fans were not happy that the ref didn’t show a red card to Alioski and to be fair he did make some miss timed tackles. But Samba Sow who crocked Roberts should of walked for his dangerous tackling also.
Think the crutches were a precautionary measure but I don’t think he’ll be available on Tuesday.

7.) 10 Feb 2020 07:26:13
If he doesn't play on Tuesday then he is injured again. I stand by original comment Clueless because it will be correct.

8.) 10 Feb 2020 10:10:46
Agree clueless, it was a clattering challenge, and I shout “not again! ” At the tv. Honestly thought he needed to come off. Let’s see what comes out in the presser.

I have read articles that state Bielsa is happy with his central defensive options and only wants a left back and a striker. I hope this is not the case as we will be severely expose if injuries/ suspensions occur. Also I believe I am right in that we have conceded in the last two friendlies from corners. Does not bode well.

Why would he give up this cushy gig ? The tail is wagging the dog with regards to his relationship with Radz. Orta is Teflon with regards to the poor performances from the players he has brought in and cannot be judged on the U23s for at least a couple of years. Why go to a club where he may be judged on actual results ? Utter madness

I personally thought that Koch's distribution was good last night with plenty of mid range passes finding their mark to wing backs and centre midfielders. Wolves are a more "street wise" team than us at the moment and their system stifled our fluid style. We had plenty of possession and opportunity to deliver the ball from the wings but we crossed hopeful balls into the box rather than picking out players, which made it easier for their rigid back three to contend with. The Bamford discussion is interesting because I personally felt that the movement of Rodrigo as the number 9 could have caused more problems for Wolves centre backs than the physicality of Bamford. Horses for courses as Bamford's style will be an asset against other opponents.

This plan has been in the pipeline for quite a while and it is released at the optimum moment when the livelihood of clubs is at stake. The payment could in all tense and purposes be a one off, as there would be no guarantee of future support when the Big 6 have control of the game. EFL clubs of limited resources and ambition will jump at the chance of a cash injection but the piper has to be paid. Imagine a league where a relegated club only receives half of what they would have normally got whilst the income of the Big 6 grows. Imagine viewing rights of the Big 6 going pay per view whilst Sky and BT show Burnley vs Crystal Palace. Imagine a club looking to gain powerful investment that could take their club forward, only for it to be vetoed because it affects the interests of the Big 6. A truly awful proposal but there are plenty who will barter away whatever competition is left in football for thirty pieces of silver.
