If we wanted to sign Castellanos, there would seem to be a possible way for that to happen without falling foul of work permit problems. The City Football Group could move him to Manchester City then loan him (with an option/ obligation to buy) to another team in the UK. This type of transfer would be similar to what happened with Harrison (also from New York City) and Aaron Mooy from Melbourne City when he went to Huddersfield on loan initially then permanently.

Interesting but not sure that would apply.
How does that get him the points needed for a permit?
Harrison was UK born so no issue and Mooy was an international at that stage (and of course the rules were different then) so not sure if they are applicable.
I'm sure we would have done our during diligence on it if in fact he is why they are in NYC.

It would seem that City, as the parent company, MAY effectively able to move an employee from one part of their operations to another without needing to go through the paperwork. As you say, both Harrison and Mooy predated the current rules, and I was merely using them as examples of the transfer mechanism that could be used, of simply moving a player from one part of the City Group to another. The MAY bit here is whether moving the player from one part of the company to another would enable the Intra-Company Transfer Visa route, rather than the Sportsperson Visa. Some articles written last summer about Brentford and other teams with sister clubs suggested that they would be able to circumvent the usual visa rules for sportspersons. Brentford’s signing of Frank Onyeka from sister club Midtjylland may be an example of this - the Danish Superliga is a Band 5 league within visa application regulations and Onyeka only had one cap for Nigeria prior to his transfer.

Cluey and ?? Excellent posts from you (as usual) but if what you write is true, does it not lend itself to a possible conspiracy theory of sorts? Namely, an understanding that in exchange for the inter company transfer first, LUFC ?? then just happen to be rather cooperative in permitting KP to leave for the Etihad in a veiled pre-packaged deal? Not suggesting we are going to accept low ball for KP, just our full cooperation for the commercial going rate, say £60M. Otherwise, why are Citeh going to be so accommodating over a player they obviously have first dibs on?

04 Jun 2022 14:22:11
I guess one thing is that with Citeh we’re talking about levels, while it would seem the City Group rate Castellanos he clearly isn’t at the level Citeh would want to propel them to the Champions League win they crave - Haaland has been bought for that. And yet, any decent and ambitious younger player in the MLS would want to try to make it in one of the top European leagues rather than stay stateside.

In addition, facilitating a transfer for Castellanos by moving him to Citeh could benefit the City Group, as whilst it would remove the 4th biggest earner from New York City’s payroll for salary cap purposes it would also enable any funds for the transfer to be credited to Citeh, which would help their FFP position as we move away from the flexibility permitted during the CV19 period - and as the very significant cost of Haaland’s transfer and contract start to impact their books.

Furthermore, IF it is possible to facilitate a transfer from the MLS in this way, it would give the City Group a further competitive advantage in the key South American market, as they could attract promising younger players from there to New York City with the assurance that if they shine for them in the MLS but don’t quite make the very high level Citeh will want, they will still be able to facilitate a move to the Prem for them with another club. This will help New York City by bringing in the talent and give Citeh first dibs on the best ones.

Great stuff Clue, as always there is knowledge and thought in your posts.
We will hopefully learn in the coming days if there is any substance to the rumours on this guy and if so your potential route to bypass the points system is very interesting.

Whoever Leeds do sign we will need goalscoring players in all positions . for Leeds to stay away from R in an even stronger EPL this coming season.

Good string of post just there! ??????.

Castellanos is another hopeful!

Can we not just go and buy a ready to go 9? I know it's. gonma be expensive but It's a position that should never be farked about with.

I know every transfers a theoretical gamble but in lieu of the fact that goals with us are a rare commodity surely now let's leave the hopefuls to Fulham etc and go and pay for the real McCoy.

04 Jun 2022 22:34:10
CC The real McCoy was coincidentally born in our city but will be plying his trade for City from a few weeks time. Furthermore, we had a chance to sign him 5 year ago but we were skint at time. Failing which you can always give Ancelotti a call and see how much he wants in order to part with Benzo.

Chris - would that be the prolific Faye McCoy at AFC Fylde or Kayla McCoy the Jamaican international at Rangers? - presuming you’re talking about signings for our Womens team. No, obviously only joking.

I thinking. along. the lines of Amini Gourin the lad at Nice, someone who has experience of a higher level of game .
I use him as an example b t. w.
