Might be worth picking up on Berms mention of breakaway euro league. Think another poster mentioned it recently too. There was uproar at the time but I get sick of the amount of money the elite can spend compared to others. I mean let's face it. Most of the time you have same 4 in champ league and a scramble for the next 3 places which generally is the same 4-5 teams. The rest of us just hope to survive. Most teams and fans have few celebrations during a season. It's mainly phew we stayed up. Maybe those rich hits should bugger off and leave the other 14 or so teams to have a real competitive league and competition where anybody can win it.

It is not a bad idea a super league for the teams who were going to be involved but for the ordinary fan. They would have effectively lost their teams. Priced out and no chance of following their teams as we can.

Ani was poster who mentioned that.

True aus
Also not a shocker to me that after the big teams put toys back in prams prem changed rules to make it better for prem teams and harder for championship clubs making the prem essentially a franchise
I might be wrong but since the European leauge was quashed 100% of the promoted teams have gone back down.
It it’s not cheating as such just loading the deck in previous prem teams favour.

PL rules are decided by all 20 teams on a one team one vote basis, so if all the smaller teams (like us) were to get together, they could force through some rule changes that would favour everyone more evenly. If they could join forces with similar teams in Spain, Italy, Germany etc then the self selected 'elite' would have to conform.

Good post jr.
that should be something to be considered.
Why give all the glory to those who can buy it. Mancs and spuds aside ??
Shirley other countries are sick of it.

Aus. Don’t call me Shirley.

European league will be back mark my words. That was just the first attempt.

For starters, how about setting a fixed salary cap for each first team squad. For instance £130m across 25 players works out at £100k per week each average which ain't too shabby. For comparison, the average PL salary for 24/ 25 was around £80k per week. Then how about having the transfer window close BEFORE the first game Europe wide with no movement in or out after that.

JR, I think you need a minimum of 15 teams to agree to a change in the EPL, perhaps Ed or others know the exact number. The big 6 (and the big 6 wannabes) will never vote for anything that doesn’t suit them.
I would relish a super league frankly. Like I said before, it wouldn’t be long before it became a meaningless exercise, when players realise one cup to win a year, no domestic trophies, no international football, no legacy etc.
I hope Aft is right.
Watching Liverpool tonight…first time in their history no British player in the team. It’s already no longer the “English” game. It’s no longer the game I grew up playing and loving.

100% JR, close the window, no manager changes for the season. No January window in my view. The team is the team.
It’s ridiculous that Liverpool can spend £125M on a striker that they hardly need in the last hour of the window, more on one player than 15 of the teams spent in the whole window. Is it right that City as a result of Trafford making a howler on his debut, that they can go out and spend £50M on a new keeper?

Clubs have the opportunity to propose new rules or amendments at Shareholder meetings. Each Member Club is entitled to one vote and all rule changes and major broadcast and commercial proposals require the approval of at least two-thirds vote, or 14 clubs.

Purposely done Clarke ?.

No manager changes would be interesting one lol.

Ger gave a great podcast on this a while back, it was the one with the psr ffp expert (same source where I stated Belisa spent 45 million forest year i'm charge)
Ger asked why do teams like Brentford and Brighton allow the bullying to happen. Why don’t they vote with there feet
Answer was accurate but worrying…
They know that finishing 8-15th in a premier league with Man City and Liverpool is worth more than finishing 1-5th in a leauge without them
Even if we could get together would we finically want to
Better to get relegated from a rich prem than stay in a poor one
I hate that I posted this but sadly Money talks.
18 Sep 2025 07:03:36
That maybe true berm. If so then it should be made a more equal playing field. Don’t know how.
18 Sep 2025 13:58:35
I agree fully aus sadly I think reality is if everyone don’t play nice and let the big boys do as they want they will simply pick up there ball and go home
As a prem league business would you fine or ban you biggest assest in city?
