I see the barcodes have gone all out, and splashed the cash to get the best around, and are on the brink of appointing former Burnley and Bournemouth manager, Eddie Howe. that's one less relegation spot for us to worry about, then! 😬😳👊🏻.

Don’t mind Howe. Did well at Bournemouth but yes. A strange choice given that they will need to attract players in January.
Let’s hope he fails miserably. That’s two down.

He got Bournemouth relegated and wasted money on bang average players, let's hope histiry repeats itself.

Heads will roll if he doesn’t deliver!

It would seem that, as you’d expect, few managers with a solid reputation for delivering silverware etc would want to go in there at this stage of the rebuild process, to do all the donkey work, despite the possible size of the wage packet on offer. The classless way the Toon seem to have tried to ‘spin’ Emery into accepting their offer by potentially destabilising his position at Villarreal seems unlikely to have done them any favours either.

Better for such managers to leave the hard yards at the Toon to someone like Howe, who will relish the project, as a chance to prove that revitalise the existing squad then rebuild it, and in due course (he’ll hope) prove he can work with a bigger budget and perhaps slightly higher maintenance players that was possible/ necessary at Bournemouth. I guess Howe will go in with his eyes open, knowing that even if he is successful at the hard stuff, and gets the Toon to the level where they can start thinking about challenging for trophies, it is likely the rich Saudi owners will want a high profile ‘trophy’ manager to take over at that point. He’ll presumably hope to gather enough evidence of working with better players and a bigger budget to help him get a job at a top-half team with an outside chance of qualifying for European football through league position or by picking up a domestic cup, as the next step up the managerial ladder.

He's just a stop gap.

05 Nov 2021 13:28:15
So you saying Howe and Saudi driven by money or success.
Howe if he is half smart would know if Newcastle survive. He is gone.
Don’t get it. Why bother.

05 Nov 2021 14:02:12
Not saying he isn’t a stop-gap. He may hope he can do enough to be kept on beyond the summer, but be happy to get a decent payoff if he stabilises things and keeps them up but is still sacked to make way for a bigger name.

If he doesn't keep them up he will be for the chop!

We got MB with Radz and Orta. with 700bn they get Eddie Howe. 🤣🤣🤣👊🏻.

To be fair Bright, this January there was only around 2 trillion riyals worth of assets in the Saudi PIF Fund - worth around £400bn, though their stated aim is to double that figure by 2025.

Toon are reported in Spain to have made Marc-Andre ter Stegen a transfer priority.

Quite why would ter Stegen give up being Barcelona’s No1 for the delights of Newcastle?

Despite having a family from the NE, I find it all hilarious!
