Elliot has said on social media that the injury was a freak accident and not Pascal's fault whatsoever.

He also gave his Liverpool shirt to a young lad in the next bed at hospital.

What a class act from young Elliot and a bright prospect as well. Would love to have him at Leeds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pity Klopp couldn't be as magnanimous and help our appeal, if there is one. Was a tackle that teams including Liverpool will have done and will do again. Notice Burnley made near identical challenge last night.

Klopp's behaviour when the game stopped was a big factor in Struick being sent off for me. Why was he allowed to enter the pitch to approach the Referee? Well done to Elliot for his support for Struick, and hopefully he will have a speedy recovery. As for Klopp, maybe he could learn a lesson from his young player, but I doubt it.

Whitesee, I generally have a lot of time for Klopp - would have loved him here before he went to Liverpool, not that he would have considered dropping to the Championship - but he didn’t cover himself with glory on Sunday. We all get that he was rightly upset by Elliott’s injury, but to go onto the pitch to talk to the ref, and also not acknowledge that it was an accident, or that Pascal was very emotionally impacted by Elliott’s injury was very poor.

For me I don't necessarily blame Klopp he reacted in the heat of the moment seeing one of is young players in agony. Wouild not be surprised if Bielsa would have supported his player in the same way
I think the blame lays firmly at the feet of the officials turning a play on into a red card is crazy its either a red card or not and that does not depend on the injury. If Klopp affected their decision that is their fault.
Klopp could now however support Struik and with hindsight support any appeal. I suppose that is when we see if he has the class I thought he had.
Get well soon Lad and head up Pascal it was a great challenge and not your fault.

Yes Camby I think the ref punished the rection and not the incident. As for Bielsa somehow I do not think he would have reacted the same as Klopp.

Wasnt Son of Spuds sent off for very similar innocuous tackle that broke a players leg in 2019 and Spuds had the red card decision overturned on appeal by independent disciplinary committee

precedent set.

If you watch the interview with klopp after the game, he was asked wat he said to the ref, he refused to answer and looked a tad embarrassed, maybe he reacted then later on realised he had over reacted
IMO.

IF the exact challenge had resulted in Struik getting the ball and Elliot getting up and (limping) away. We would be debating yes/ no Yellow Card. If a player obviously accidently injures another player is it a Yellow card? We have to accept that the last thing on Struijk mind was any form of injury to Elliot and if so the incident when viewed again cannot be a Red Card. But; this is Leeds Red Card, fine and points docked.

Indeed Baz. As I commented on a thread on the rumours page, given the Heung-min Son precedent, any failure to overturn this decision would look very anti-Leeds.
