Bermo here's a simple question,
What is our greater strength?
A, the players quality as a team of individuals
or
B, Bielsa's, system and coaching of these players as a team

My feeling is B, if you look at the squad he took over, the good players who have been sold in the last 2 seasons and how he now has the team playing and performing.
I believe this is as a result of the work he has done with the squad, he has coached to play this brand of football.

Agree1 Disagree0

I am b also but the little problem that currently he can't fix is getting goals, is that down to individuals or is it a style of play issue? We all know by now Leeds top possession stats, but we all also know that for all the ball we don't create enough, when Pablo's off form we don't have that cutting edge to split a defence . So in bielsa we trust but as we all know also he seems to be struggling to plan a way of utilizing ball time to goal ratio . That's my tuppence worth.

We create but don’t convert.
Dodgy selection dodgy striker. Simple.

depends don't it

at first it was belisa system but since last xmas I don't think his system and coaching has done that well consindering the same players where running away with the league at first.

his system/ coaching is failing to get the most out of klich, harrision, clarke, bamford, eddie, pablo (in patches) costa and douglas

so in essense my anwer is Belisa brings more problems than answer, for all his good points his bad points outweight them

if warnock, wilde, wagner and fualke can get a lesser sqaud promoted and if smith can turn a sqaud from 14th to promotion in same season then belisa should be doing better if he is that good

so my point is belisa has done ok but should be doing a lot better if he is that good than how come so many other managers have done far better with weaker teams

so my counter questions since xmas has belisa done good enough? do you think he can do one better? should we accpet failiure? while we could do a lot worse is there not a few managers out there that would do a lot better?

I would argue that Villa had a stronger squad than us last season, they were severely underperforming with Bruce at the helm. Farke and Wilde did get the best out of limited resources but they found a way (system) to play and did it well.

Berm and Notts very good posts. This is why a system and formation is everything. We have a goalscorer who warms bench every game. If only he could be integrated we'd fair better. At home, this would be line-up.

Casilla
Dallas Cooper White Douglas
Forshaw Shackleton Roberts Costa
Bamford Nketiah

Subs Miazek Ayling Alioski Phillips Hernandez Klich Edmondson.

i agree notts,

my point is while some praise belisa and forgive faults for taking us from 13th to 3rd in a season, they fail to see smith took villa from 14th to promise land in a few weeks, that's a proper manager.

Belisa had a amazing impact taking us from 13th to top of the league but he also oversaw us fall from grace in record breaking fashion and he is continuing to make the same mistakes

I now see Belisa as this and only this. the man who had a team top of the league in Jan to a team that fell apart. I excpect that team to get promotion last year, only way he can redeem himself is by getting us up this year.

many say best manager. he is great ect. he aint. he is as flawed as he is amazing. let's be honest the names i trot out. wilde fluke, smith, warnock, wagner all did far better jobs in worse potisions or with weaker sqauds. so bleisa ain't fit to sit on there buckets is he?

some might accept this as progress. i ony see it as not good enough. Also progress this season is what. last year we should of gone up so not going up this year must be seen as a sackable defense. this is not a strong league this year is it.

29 Oct 2019 15:09:37
I feel that WBA and Fulham have stronger squads than ours and will be more likely to invest in January to strengthen their position. I don't believe that Bielsa should get a free pass for missing out on promotion last year as a strong position was blown. Mistakes from last season are not being learned. Although some quote we are 3rd are missing the point that another draw in the next game could see us slip down the table, it is that tight. A side that can put a run together in this league will achieve promotion.

29 Oct 2019 15:45:54
notts my honest opinion is with the table being as tight as it is and seeing how we was running away in jan and still threw it away anyone who mentions the table as proof of us doing well is a complete idiot. as far as i'm concerned mention the table to me in may and not a moment before.

all those who say we are 2nd we are 3rd ect have short memories

but last year we was running away with it, this year we aint.

29 Oct 2019 16:29:35
also geogre love your starting line up, think that would do a lot of damage and have the legs and pace to trouble all teams at this level.

29 Oct 2019 19:31:40
1970 It is b all day long but again you miss the issue. First, it should never be a case of either or. The real issue is is the brand of football, Bielsaball, conducive to winning promotion from the Championship. In my opinion, the answer is no. The answer is yes if he only plays the system away but plays a traditional 4-4-2 at home. With the squad we have we should be achieving 92 points and as many goals scored. We won't because Bielsa won't introduce the system I know will work at home.

29 Oct 2019 19:33:59
Thanks Berm. KP my main casualty of a 4-4-2 but I'd reinstate him for away fixtures along with Bielsaball. To all you other posters, would it be so difficult and terrible for our coach to coach 2 systems? Think about it!

29 Oct 2019 20:26:24
agree george great post

Mb has a way. that's great

great managers adapt. look at fat frank, he played us three times and got beat but saw what he thought was a weakness in us, played a diamond and it worked.

All this takes six weeks nonsense. that was first time derby played a diamond and it got them past us so how good is MB if it takes him six weeks and frank a week at most

all great leaders need a degree of stubborness. but all leaders down falls are when they are too stubborn, that applys to managers, PM's and all leaders going way back to the roman empire.

30 Oct 2019 02:40:15
Another good post Berm. What is going on between us?!

30 Oct 2019 09:18:55
I do need a new man now speedyg has escaped from my wardrobe.

31 Oct 2019 20:28:23
So BW Fat Frank beats us 1 in 4 all of a sudden he's a great, explain the logic behind that please? It sounds to to me your arguments are based on trying to prove Bielsa ain't a great manager, something like a fools guide to great management! By BW.
