I don’t think they’ll be relegated this season. They probably will by a few players like Lingard, Tarkowski in January.
There big spending I imagine will be in the summer.
What interests me the most is which coach/ manager would go there. ? and how much time will he be given to bring success.

Agree0 Disagree0

Op
Any mercenary, sign a 3 year deal, then if they don't perform, they'll get a big bucks pay off
Would love it if Benitez went back 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

I don’t think players will go when there is a 50-50 chance they will go down. Unless they insert a low release clause.
Why would they take the risk.

Massive wages?

Nah. Alf.
Disagree.
Players seek wage and trophies.
One available but 2-3 yrs for both.
There are a rubbish load better options all over Europe.
I can see this drowning tbh.
Or is that just cause Bruce eats all the pies and is manc scallop and codes play crap football. I’m confused.

Newcastle won't go down - All you need is three worst teams and Norwich and Watford narrow that down to one Newcastle have too much for that especially with a transfer window.

I don't think that they will initially attract big names but could afford some very strong players at the end of their career Costa could have a few years in him, Ramsey would presumably like a return. Wages will talk for some of these players.

its about building in the right way. yes players like Naymar aren't going to be interested but there are a lot of good players in teams that aren't currently getting into Europe or maybe dipping in an out of those places who could be interested in a longer term project. if those players join, you get a decent coach and you start getting results then the better players will follow. Realistically you can offer survival / maybe outside chance of Europe this season depending on Jan activity, then a proper push for euro places next year and in Europe pushing for champs league the year after. you would also expect them to be seriously challenging for the league and other domestic trophies in yr 3 onwards. Citeh and Chelski both won the league within 3 yrs of takeover I believe. Of course the I would argue competition is steeper than when Citeh and Chelski did it but more often than not the most successful clubs are the richest ones.

Inevitably some pundits are suggesting KP and or Raphinha could got Toon. Can’t see it to be honest. If they were to leave Leeds, I would expect them to go to a Club offering Champions League - which seems unlikely at Toon next season or the one after - as I don’t see either of them moving just for more money.

Good point Cambridge re players nearing end of careers etc.
With the likes of city and Chelsea and maybe liv and Utd all the money in the world would not guarantee winning the league or champ league.
Gotta build a team for that not just good players.

If I were toon that's exactly the type of player I'd be targeting. On relatively low wages and I can't see us being anywhere near Champs league in 2/ 3 seasons so temptation possible. We're not the only club with a couple of star players but with our poor showing so far this season I think we are vulnerable.
