Those who dwell on conspiracy theories may view the collapsed takeover of Derby to be dirty tricks by an individual with a vested interest in the club who engaged a third party to display interest in buying the club. Therefore delaying any potential points deduction before the end of the season should they finish with sufficient points to survive in the championship for another season. Once survival has been confirmed, the third party withdraws his interest in buying the club.

Wouldn't put anything past their owner, he been known to bend or stretch a rule of two in his favour. Unlike spygate where no actual rule was broken, the FA can always be relied on to penalise Leeds and then a blind eye to direby.
