Since I got back to Spain I've been having withdrawal symptoms so I've been looking for a bit of local football. I live on the Valenciano coast about an hour from Valencia. So they are the obvious choice, but the seasons over with a fine 4th place Champions League football and a victory over Barcelona in the Copa! One other problem is getting tickets as there is a waiting list for season tickets .
So I turned my attention to the second division which still has 2 games to go. Albacete is just under 2 hours away and guess what? They are currently, third in the table, 5 points off the second automatic place with only 6 points left to play for. On Sunday night they play Malaga in the penultimate game and Malaga like Albacete have already qualified for the playoffs! Mmm, history repeating itself. So on Sunday we head off to Albacete for an 8pm kickoff! Kick off times in Spain are even crazier than the Sky crazed U. K. due both to the tv and the weather!
Final fun fact was that Albacete was founded by employees of the Yorkshire Lancashire railway line in 1940! And they play in White albeit with a touch of red!
