couple of points on the above.

1. we have got a lot of targets that have been identified longer term but we have a flexible approach and the players we actually get will depend on what we think is the right direction at the time of the window. The recent changes from Citeh onward will have changed our priorities.
2. Underwood is not the one identifying targets or certainly not alone. we are using a data driven model so primarily its the underlying data that helps us decide which players to bring in. Underwood just does as he is told.

We only have "plenty of time to sign players" as long as the players we want to sign haven't been snapped up by someone else whilst we're still thinking about it. Castellanos was suggested but now he's signed for Spam, Dovbyk has been rumoured but Sunderland are allegedly sniffing round him too.

Wait too long and the only ones available are the ones no one else wants, and if our competitors don't want them, neither do we.

For all of the negativity we had in the summer about the window, which player hasn't improved the team?
Perri is a disaster but I think he can come good.
Okafor needs a bit more time to bed in.
The rest have been excellent and have held off opponents ten times their value.

The recruitment in summer was indeed 8/ 10.

Agree with everything there Mo, with the exception of Perri, who seems to be attracting all the negativity and responsibility for everything remotely bad.
He realistically had no chance with any of those goals last night, and I'd challenge any GK in the world to catch a ball cleanly with 8 players jostling around the catch zone! Newcastle's crosses and corners were exceptional last night.


The Man U goal was a 50-50 call, and he made the wrong decision; a lot of other keepers would've done the same.
Clearly bud, those comments are for everyone currently on the bloke's case, not just you! 👍🏼.

He should have clattered into the players to catch the ball. That’s what goalkeepers do. Well most of them. He dived before the pen was hit so. Yeah coulda done better. He was lucky first goal was ruled out cause obviously had a girly grip on the ball cause the Newcastle player hardly touched it. Plus Man U goal. Adding up.

Strand Larsen was good last season, but this season only one goal from 18 appearences - we can do better IMO. Callum Wilson might be a better (and cheaper) bet if he negotiates an end to his contract with Spam and becomes a free agent.
