Totally get the frustration and criticism, which I thought in the main was balanced.

Think OP was spot on with his post about us freezing, being scared like rabbits in the headlights, think you could also recognise the level of shock and realisation from throughout the banter site as there’s no disguising it we turned up to a gunfight with a knife, this will not be an isolated event.

Watching the Spurs game earlier, it was a masterclass from Thomas Franke, in tandem with some insane performances from the likes of Sarr and Porro who ran themselves to a standstill and were men possessed.

Never saw anything like enough of that yesterday from the team, no disgrace to be outclassed, but totally inexcusable to be outrun or outworked in any fixture.

Think our manager got it very wrong on a number of fronts yesterday, lineup, formation and subs, but he got all them spot on the week before.

We miss amps calmness and steel and we must learn from this, but we have a fairly favourable run of fixtures to follow, but need an immediate response and win our home game.

Perspective though for all of us including myself, personally I’m choosing to say we’ve won half our games to date.

Hoping for a couple more quality signings.

Excellent post Class, completely agree.

100% Class!

24 Aug 2025 13:02:38
Yes, well said Class (and OP for his post too) .

It's a learning curve - a very step one after days like yesterday. And remember, we won't be the only team to go to Arsenal and get thumped this season, they are one of the best teams in Europe!

As a marker for us all - they say 40 points is enough to keep you up (in the past few seasons around 35/ 36 would probably do it) , therefore 10 wins (30 points) , 10 draws (10 points) and 18 losses and safety is all but guaranteed. A draw against Newcastle would keep us nicely on target to achieve this.

Let’s see class. We can see. Can he.

24 Aug 2025 14:35:05
I was expecting a pasting all week anyways it's par for course we are now on, if Farke persists with his approach yesterday he won't see Xmas, persisting with Gruev, James, etc will cost us in the crucial games, that we have outside chance in .

It's a huge gulf in class, and silly pre season predictions of top 10 etc are just that silly, and hopefully yesterday result will ground in a reality that a few of our players are just not equipped for this level of football, that's not being nasty, it's just being realistic.

We desperately need a few higher calibre players.

Just out of interest, what do people think, and I’m NOT saying Farke out here, but given the nutter chairman at Florists, if Nuno or similar became available and say we struggling……

Do we think 49ers would give Farke time or jump on a proven premiership coach?

Again am NOT advocating for this just curious on peoples views in terms of how they think 49ers will act and if so how quickly?

24 Aug 2025 18:19:35
I thought exactly the same Class. It would be great if DF was successful but when you have a class Premiership manager waiting to lose his job it’s obviously going to get in your head isn’t it.
The truth is, if DF does get sacked later in the season I guarantee Nuno will already be bedded in elsewhere.
Like I say I hope DF stays as that means he’s doing well but Nuno on the verge of being sacked is a real carrot for the 49ers!
Yesterday was a shock, even though it was a free hit!
I reckon I wasn’t the only one thinking the worst after 10 mins, but we did grow into the game but then let it go again. We don’t seem to have anything further than midfield, we were invisible up front!
We let Arsenal come on to us and we totally paid them to much respect and we were frightened of them from the off.
I’m totally undecided about Perri, I reckon Darlow would have got to 2 of those shots that lead to a goal. Backo should not of been allowed to score that goal from that angle. All in my opinion though.
Also remember we got a dubious penalty given against Everton so swings and roundabouts, just take it on the chin.
Let’s hope the Arsenal game has woken us up to the fact that we are in the Premiership and it’s going to be a learning curve, but and it’s a big but, we only have a short time to learn and to get it right.
So DF it’s now down to you, free hits are free hits but learn from them and don’t let it happen again. If we played arsenal again next week away I would expect a 2-0 loss which shows we have learnt from Saturday’s result, then better again next time! We need to learn and keep learning, that’s how we will survive. ALAW, Class, Vid, Brighty, OP, Ani, Cleggy, all great posts lads ????.

Nope. not now Class, maybe if we were struggling and in danger in October. But what is a proven EPL manager these days. Graham Potter was the darling two years ago, now look at his struggles? "Proven" in this day and age, is shot with a run of 6 bad results.

There aren't many managers out there, proven in my opinion. There are plenty with longevity, but not many with success with multiple [EPL] clubs in the EPL. unless success = surviving year after year.

Big Sam, is the 5th most experienced EPL manager, and David Moyes the 3rd. would we want either of them truthfully [I like Moyes by the way].

24 Aug 2025 18:52:05
I’d snap Nuno up and give DF a golden handshake.
Ok the owners would get slaughtered in the media but they have to do what’s best for the club.
I can see the scenario where if Nuno becomes available and leeds persevere with Farke only then to sack him a few months later leaving us up shite creek.
I have nothing against Daniel just want the best for our club.

Good post Corkey mate, good points made ??.

24 Aug 2025 19:22:29
Really interesting points, especially with regards big Sam, Farke convinced me last season he absolutely deserved his chance, hoping ge grabs it.

I thought DJ was shocking in preseason (as bad as Schmidt in Dublin) and has done nowt to date, I’m convinced he’s not fully fit, as he seems terrified to use his pace, is it because he feels out of place at this level?

I suppose the same applies to Farkey, he’s fully earned the opportunity this season but he has to very quickly prove he can adapt and manage at this level.

Better leave it there for now as Berm will be after me.

24 Aug 2025 19:31:38
West Ham will move for Nuno if he goes from Forest.

24 Aug 2025 20:49:15
Corkey,

DF was hired to do what he does best; get teams promoted. He did that and did it the best way possible. Parting ways with him now is just honouring the original deal of why he was hired.

We need to upgrade our players and manager. No hard feelings, just business.

24 Aug 2025 21:15:20
I get the point about “managing at this level, ” but it’s more nuanced than that. Neil Warnock once said, “there are no real managers in the EPL, ” because they don’t really have to manage, since (until recently) they could spend and buy who they wanted. They never had to worry about not being able to pay their players, scratching around the youth team for a starting 11…Warnock had to pay a coach company personally to get the team to a game once. The biggest issue to most EPL managers is who to leave out rather scraping together a team.

Farke hasn’t that luxury and no future Leeds manager would have until we’ve been in the EPL for > 3 years. our best 11 is barely competitive, has very limited EPL experience. Most established EPL teams struggle to pair down their squad to the stipulated 27 players.

Managing, in any walk of life is seeking success with the resources at your disposal.

Would any current EPL manager be guaranteed to do any better than Farke with the same limitations / would Farke be more successful if he had a £1B squad?

In all likelihood, Farke won’t last the season (though I really hope he does) and the owners will hunt out another 2 or 3 replacements, who will waste another £60-70m a pop trying.

24 Aug 2025 23:19:08
Great post Ani, very very thought provoking mate ??.

25 Aug 2025 08:32:07
Personally, I'm wary of Nuno. He's just had a full public meltdown having been backed to the hilt by his boss, about how he's not been backed by his boss! I smell a crackpot, who will throw his dummy out at the drop of a hat. Good coach, no doubt, but does that mentality suit a club that sorely needs the stability that has been sorely lacking for so long?

25 Aug 2025 14:10:11
Good post Class. I was a little over critical last night but the performance was extremely bad. Still not sure what the tactics were with the personnel picked?
