For me the over riding factor in this campaign to stay in the Premiership is the quality of the players we have in our squad are simply not good enough to keep us up.
I do believe Farke will be sacked sooner than later which does now have the air of inevitability about it, certainly with the fans and media all seemingly pointing towards it.
The 49er’s may give him his last chance saloon with the Villa game at Elland rd or they may not wait and do it over the International break.
For Farke he may fall on his feet with the vacant Middlesbrough job but for us I fear what ever coach you take and there won’t be many on offer, our fate is very likely sealed in relegation.
Due to the 49er’s recent Gerrard interest for Rangers, I can see him as their first choice coach to take over and I can see Gerrard gleefully accepting this position.
My problem with this appointment is that there will be a huge media circus around Gerrard himself and this will have a negative outcome on our very slim chances of survival.
All the names I’ve seen on this forum are very unlikely candidates as the experienced coach/ manager will not want a very likely relegation blot on their CV. Also the likelihood of being a Championship coach next season will not be appealing either.
In my opinion there is one coach i would make a claim for and that would be Kieran McKenna.
Unlikely to get promotion this season with Ipswich he might want the opportunity again to try his luck at keeping a team up in the Premiership. He will have last seasons experience to go by and he is a young talented coach.
He’ll have a slightly better squad than he had with Ipswich last season and if he has the desire to take it on then there maybe the tiniest of opportunities that we might scrape a survival if other teams like West Ham and Wolves continue their poor start. Although I do feel both of those teams have better players than us and have more chance of avoiding relegation.
Of course there would be a compensation fee that maybe problematic with PSR looming and above all the perhaps far better proposition of going to Celtic maybe a more lucrative option for him.
There’s no hiding of where we are and to think some top coach is going to wing his way to our club and save us from the inevitability is no less than a dream, especially with the quality of players at his disposal.
I will continue this season in hope of a miracle but I’m already adjusting my thoughts to spending next season back into the Championship with a coach that will have no idea of how to get us out of it this time.
Onwards and Downwards.

Excellent post again OP!

Recruitment has been woeful OP, how or why did they believe Lewin was right fit is really mind boggling, also it's really worrying that 9'ers felt it was a great window
We are playing woeful football now and our poor recruitment is totally exposed.

I think a change should give a bounce. Let’s not kid ourselves. This squad will struggle to stay up. Possibly only 40% prem quality.
The transfer window as many said at the time was poor or pathetic. They should k ow that and take some of the blame. Farke is useless. Not one prem standard quality.
So get rid.
One year plus bonuses to new manager. Why not. One city team.
Not sure owners know one year contracts exist though. Happy to throw 3 at dic.
Anyway. It’s Leeds right.
At least Bielsa loved Leeds, players and fans. The rest just money grabbers.

I disagree with the sentiment that we don't have the quality to stay up. Strongly disagree. We are not worse than Burnley, forest, wolves, west ham and Fulham.
Were playing players out of position, with no game plan, stopped from pushing forward, not allowed to play quick football and keep playing out from the back.
The quality has drained out of our team with the demoralising effect that the above has caused.
Terrible tactics terrible subs, clueless management, no game plan.
Ask yourself this; how would this team perform under Bielsa? The same, worse or better?
If it's better, then the issue isn't our quality, is it?

The big question for me, why are the players playing so obviously different to the first 6 games.
We looked extremely positive until the loss to Spurs and since then become toothless, half hearted
Yesterday, Brighton and Burnley were abysmal attempts, is it a coaching or player issue
Whatever the answer, a new injection of motivation and mindset is desperately needed.

More like the teams we played against where we appeared to do well were having a slow start to the season. Where we now and the relegation zone is where our realistic position throughout this season will be.
I think the hope of any old coach will do so long as it isn’t Farke is just a false ideal that everything will be okay and that we’ll start working our way back up the league.
I think they genuinely tried to bring in one or two quality players in the summer, but sadly we couldn’t pay over the odds to secure those deals. I feel there’s no one to blame in my mind, just a fact of how difficult it is now for newly promoted teams in the Premiership.
It will be a huge task to avoid relegation in my opinion.

Mindset and psychology.

Never thought about McKenna OP - interesting shout and one that might just work.
I have a feeling that the 49ers' will wait until the next four matches are out of the way then have a look. Unfortunately by then, we could find ourselves firmly in the relegation zone!
10 Nov 2025 16:58:52
With a goal difference resembling a cricket score ??.
10 Nov 2025 17:48:15
Man city will be brutal. I wonder if Halaand will skip the match or not go all out against us?
10 Nov 2025 17:57:45
At least he won't celebrate when he scores - small consolation: (.
10 Nov 2025 18:56:14
Not a bad shout OP on McKenna, not sure if I fancy him but certainly did well with Ipswich in the championship and from what I remember seemed to go at it in the premier league but lack of quality showed.
10 Nov 2025 18:29:23
Don’t think it will really matter if a new coach starts tomorrow or in four games time it won’t in my estimation make any difference at all, there are no easy games in this league.
We will often be the whipping boys in away games this season.
Get used to it, with or without Farke it won’t make any difference.
I still retain what I believe that with the players we’ve got, home games are the only games we can hope for any points.
11 Nov 2025 07:27:40
Totally agree again OP. Realistically embracing the challenge this season always represented.
11 Nov 2025 09:31:15
Without Farke we not have lost to Burnley or forest.
11 Nov 2025 17:58:38
You don’t know that Mot and they were both away games. We have won two and draw two at home, Spurs game could of easily been a draw and Bournemouth was within a minute of being a deserved victory.
It will be very interesting to see how we perform against Villa, if Farke can deliver results at home, he may be able to hang on to his job for longer than most of us expect.
11 Nov 2025 18:28:42
Given we haven’t beaten Forest with the last 6 managers we have had in the EPL, I don’t think that’s much of a claim MOT.
I think it’s hard to see who would replace Farke if he was sacked. We still have the same team, no money, so who is going to risk their reputation. McKenna would be absolute no for me. He was hardly a resounding success in the EPL despite spending a fortune. He seems a bit of a busted flush in the EFL this season.
We need to wise up, play to our meagre strengths and stop trying to be something we’re not. More effort, swap a few out, and grind out results. A change of attitude is likely to be successful than a change of manager imo (for this side of Christmas anyhow) .
11 Nov 2025 21:01:06
Your all for getting Farke is the best in championship management just look at Norwich for me it’s two late to change now.
