Once again slowness in transfer window is costing us. No reason why we have not bought players now.
The club try and scrimp and save a million here or there but realistically how much does a competent championship/ prem cost. The lub guy for 10 would not be a bad buy. So what if he in last year of his contract. Like Rowe. If he is good enough to start, damn right we should expect to pay 10. I know it's a business but getting the right players and promoted is worth a rubbish load more than a few mill here and there. Really annoys me this.
And again a semi excuse for Farke. Our first 11 have the ability to get promoted. It was poor on Saturday. We can't let that happen again. We all said a good start is imperative.
As Porgie says below. Farke recent form is questionable. He did look clueless again on the touchline. Sheff and burn results don't help but they could potentially storm this league. Lots to sort out and quickly.

EPL teams start naming their squads for the season soon so I'm expecting us to get a loan or two once we know who's available. Should be some decent players being omitted. Is frustrating that we seem to drag our heels, though. Like you say, if we want Rowe just pay the £10m. He's worth that and promotion off the back of it will increase the returns ten-fold.
Also agree, squad is good enough to go up, so no excuses from DF if we don't get anyone in and he fails. We should be getting promoted with this team regardless of more acquisitions.

I know what you’re saying re transfers Aus. I have tho noticed that this summer does seemed much slower in the time it’s taking every deal to get across the line. Look at Gallagher to Athleti, the O’Riley situation at Celtic, and Zubimendi to Scouse, purely as examples. There seems to be so many more variables affecting the conclusion of transfers this year, so maybe there’s more to it than meets the eye.
If you go to buy a player, and the first offer is accepted, then you can be pretty sure you’ve overpaid vs the other sides expectations!

SF49ers disappoint more than a tad
Crucially outperformed in Jan window by the teans that went up.
Paying for that now big time it seems with this disappointing summer window. and if Gnonto and Wober go also . hmmm well
Leeds conceded plenty in away matches at back end of last season ( 9 goals against Watford, Boro. and QPR )
. and think this season away from home especially Leeds United might be reasonably easy to score against.
If DF picks same defensive formation and line up same that conceded 3 to a very under strength Pompey (missing lots of first teamers) it would not surprise me if Leeds lose to both West Brom and Sheff Wed.
Play Wober.3 CDs. away!
13 Aug 2024 09:03:11
If we lose to west brom and Sheffield wed by at least two goals, DF should go.
13 Aug 2024 09:05:30
Think you make a good point with clubs waiting for the EPL teams to name their final playing squads. Chelsea currently have in excess of 50 players! Once that is trimmed down then the likes of Humphries at Chelsea and Jebbison at Bournemouth may be going out on loans.
I only mentioned those two as the clickbaiters had previously linked them to us, but both Burnley, Ipswich have shown the benefit of securing the right loanees can get you promoted.
The Rowe situation has dragged on too long, he’s a good player but is he what we were actually missing on Saturday?
Think our financial situation is far worse than has been communicated (have no evidence of this) but it’s very Leeds United that we appear to be behind our promotion rivals with key signings.
Now I do not want us to be reckless and we must cut our cloth accordingly, especially if funds our short that’s not down to the 49ers.
But we lacked a spark on Saturday and whether that’s a creative player or a Pack type nasty git in midfield to bully the opposition and get us going (we have seen Wober do the Pack role previously) we definitely still need someone to ignite the team and the fan base.
13 Aug 2024 09:21:49
A good ? post Class 100% spot on
Leeds United certainly do lack that spark of a player (s) .
. A Pablo creator to excite and dictate. scores great free kicks too!
And a Vinne Jones up them type to get crowd right up in a frenzy
Saturday performance and atmosphere was lacking . meh
Ahh the good ole days when Leeds United had passion.
13 Aug 2024 09:32:53
Personally, are we a suitable destination for loan players.
Yes, Rodon played the majority if not all our games last season
But Jayden Anthony was a waste and rarely used, plus Connor Roberts didn't get to play that much for us either
I feel we should be buying our own decent players and gelling the team from pre-season, not playing the suck it and see game that we're yet again witnessing ??.
13 Aug 2024 09:39:45
? Leeroy . we generally do NOT do
loaning of players very well
at all!
Buy our own players. affordable players are out there fgs!
13 Aug 2024 10:09:26
Oh I agree 100% with buying the right hungry players over signing loanees Leeroy.
I just do not think we have any funds to speak of.
Again, this is what the 49ers inherited, and they appear to be a professional organisation as was proven by the RB commercial deal.
Everyone knows my feelings on the EPL and Chelsea’s current spending frenzy shows that the super league has already happened, with three distinctive mini leagues with the top sides already miles ahead in terms of squads and financial buying power.
Then there are the steady Eddies of mid table and then you have the newly promoted sides who know it’s highly likely they will return immediately to the championship.
The irony is not lost on me that a successful, stable Leeds United fully established in that premier league will probably have to be owned and marketed by Red Bull.
Hope I’m wrong, I generally am with predictions so rest easy.
13 Aug 2024 10:24:15
Let's be honest Class, we have lacked that midfield spark a fair while now and chiefs don't seem to be in a hurry to fix it, when our tempo drops in games, some of our football is so negative and painful to watch
We desperately need a playmaker in midfield
So Rothwell no pressure ?.
13 Aug 2024 11:35:34
But Rothwell needs to start to effect games Chris, I’m still firmly of the belief that this group of players can get automatic promotion, jeez I’ll have to move house if I have to payout my Citeh pal again!
But laid back calm Farkey who has a fantastic record in this division is starting to frustrate me a little, it was fantastic he tried three at the back in preseason and it was fantastic with Rothwell on corners and set pieces and then we reverted to type and sadly Gruevs set pieces were pretty woeful on Saturday.
I’m looking for Farkey to do something different and to be a little more passionate about dropping a point in a game we should have won easily.
Conversion rate to chances remains our Achilles heel and there’s an argument to buying a proven goalscorer and changing your whole system to fit around that type of player.
I’m still optimistic of a good reaction performance against Boro, but I’m more anxious than I should be now.
13 Aug 2024 12:04:47
Regarding transfers, the 49rs along with Kinnear and Co will end up with more silver medals than the GB Olympic team.
13 Aug 2024 13:07:13
That's my point Class, it' seems like it's very much Joe or nothing ?
Clearly Gruev ain't type of player who can do the pretty / skillful stuff, so we could get again be on look for a spark in midfield.
13 Aug 2024 13:26:46
I think Farke thought pomps a walk in the park and it should have been.
I was impressed with his defensive changes pre season but suspect that will be for difficult home and away games.
So that means. First chance and easy chance to impress. We failed.
Terrible lapses in defence and poor finishing.
Is Rodon missing amps? Why did firpo and bogle swap. Is amps better in mf and Gruev and Roth midfield?
I don’t think Farke is up to it. Think although stool young for a manager he got lucky previously.
We should all be celebrating a smashing but we are not.
13 Aug 2024 14:17:41
Class we scored THREE goals! Should always win when scoring three.
Gruev free kick not a bad set piece unlucky not to score.,
13 Aug 2024 14:35:07
Crew moves the ball quick. Would like to see him get more minutes in those kinda games. Always looking for it to feet, press resistant and he releases quickly then keeps moving to do it again.
13 Aug 2024 14:44:13
You don't just stop loaning players because some don't work out. Cutting off a large portion of the market of available talent then, which isn't a benefit to us at all. There are good players available who could make an impact for us. I definitely think we should be looking at loans, especially if our ability to buy players isn't great atm. Pragmatically, there's no other option if we want more players, is there?
13 Aug 2024 14:48:25
To get midfield going again could farke try Rothwell and Gruev and drop amperdu back to the defense line? 4-2-3-1 with Gnonto Rutter James and Joseph up front.
Back four rodon amps Firpo
Back four remain rigid and tight and only feed balls to midfield who push up, spread through the wings or punch through the middle.
13 Aug 2024 14:51:54
Aus, I am not sure DF "looked Clueless" on Saturday. He actually brought on the three subs with 20 minutes to go, that you had highlighted before the match as our best three subs. He did what he could with what he had; it's not like we were short of creating chances? Our "best" striker that everyone was clamouring for last season missed a sitter; [as did many others]. We scored three, hit the woodwork 3 times and missed bucket loads of chances as well.
DF cannot be blamed for that.
As for lack of signings, there are clearly lots of good reasons for that; we just don't know what they are and that is what is frustrating. No one, especially a ownership hellbent on the EPL and their whole Resin Detra for ownership is going to intentionally "harm" the chances if they can help it. We have raised the best part of £80M in this window and spent £10M, so I doubt it is a lack of funds, more likely financial constraints on FFP. Cash, doesn't mean rich. Many business fail, despite having lots of cash. Having cash now, doesn't help financial results from the past 3 years, which I suspect is putting us in a financial straight-jacket. I am sure they have their targets and I am sure everyone is tirelessly trying to make it happen, but it is clear, it is a lot harder to accomplish within the constraints than many appreciate.
Notwithstanding the above, I think we will have at least 2 more in this window.
13 Aug 2024 15:16:47
2 in? Isn't anywhere near enough
Especially if 2 more 1st teamers leave ; WG and MW?
13 Aug 2024 20:17:54
Ok Baz…I’ll have a word with them, just on the off chance they’re not up to speed.
13 Aug 2024 20:49:53
Cork, I like Gruev, but for myself he and Ampadu are too similar, think Amps drifted too much into the back four on Saturday whether that was deliberate or not wasn’t made clear.
But I believe both Pompey’s Lang and Pack won that centre midfield battle.
And I accept we scored THREE goals, we also had 22shots ten off target, and hit the woodwork three times including a Gruev free kick.
They also scored THREE goals from only five shots.
I never said Gruev isn’t a good player, he is a very good young player but the balance doesn’t look right with Gruev and Amps…in my personal opinion.
I think Amps can bring the steel we need, but not if he keeps drop into the back four especially at home, but I’d like in the interim, for Joe Rothwell to have a good run in the team as an 8 not as another 6.
13 Aug 2024 21:25:42
Seems like Amps was asked to invert when full backs pushed on, as opposed to the opposite full back. Leading to a back three when attacking.
Wasn't a fan of that tbh. Just meant he had more ground to make up to the midfield when Pompey won the ball back.
13 Aug 2024 21:27:10
My preference was Amps and Rothwell over Amps and Gruev. Still is.
13 Aug 2024 22:00:33
Please ? do Ani.
14 Aug 2024 06:37:16
I’m totally with Dill on loaning perhaps 2 or 3 premiership players. As he has rightly pointed out the full squads in the Premiership will be announced shortly and it very much looks like our club will be delving into that pool of players.
Makes good sense to me.
