Firpo rumoured to be looking at a move to la liga with real bettis interested, if Leeds don't renew his contract.

Would you renew? I certainly would. Even if he isn't at prem level next season, a big contract ensures a decent sale figure.

MoTagain

1.) 13 Sep 2024 13:53:04
Similar to Meslier . clubs don't want to pay transfer fees on Firpo.

He will leave as a free agent end of season.

2.) 13 Sep 2024 17:48:30
I'd try re-sign him, personally. With all the injuries and manager rotation at the club when he was last in the Prem, I think he might fancy another go at it.

3.) 13 Sep 2024 23:37:58
I think Firpo much more likely fancies the sunnier climate and possibly slightly slower tempo of other country's leagues Dill

He will be off next summer a free agent its a given.

4.) 14 Sep 2024 08:53:29
Agree with baz as he knows the target list of every club on the planet, if baz says no one wants them that’s good enough for me.

5.) 14 Sep 2024 09:23:06
I’d re-sign him too. He’s quite a strong character to have ridden the abuse, and come back stronger. His defending has improved a lot, and he is a threat going forward, with good link up play with those playing in front of him. Pops up with the odd goal too. If he then gets an opportunity to go elsewhere, get a fee, which is also in his own interests, and his agents!

6.) 14 Sep 2024 10:06:23
Eureaka fellas!

Finally a 100% spot on post from Berma.

7.) 14 Sep 2024 10:09:38
Brighteth on Firpo: ' his defending has improved a lot"

I must admit I leaked sone " wazz" upon reading that hilarity ??.

8.) 14 Sep 2024 15:34:35
Well, I think you’re the only one who can’t see a clear improvement then Bazil. Maybe you wazzed in yer own eyes?

9.) 14 Sep 2024 16:46:29
Baz ???????.

10.) 14 Sep 2024 17:44:10
The emoji agreement king is back…….

11.) 14 Sep 2024 18:42:05
Watch the game today Brighty and honestly ( key word) tell me he had a good game!

and that's at frigging woeful Champo level not EPL level fella

: improved a lot? . get a grip
Mr Hyperbole strikes again.

12.) 14 Sep 2024 19:10:34
Junior has simply found his level. He's a decent Championship standard LWB, but not LB. Let him depart on a free in the summer.

13.) 14 Sep 2024 20:39:42
Yet he was man of the match a couple of weeks ago.

14.) 14 Sep 2024 21:39:52
Yes you made that point yesterday against woeful Hull

Hyperbole and repetition Brighty.

15.) 14 Sep 2024 22:23:49
The only repetition is your use of the word hyperbole, of which there is none, showing your lack of understanding of a word you must’ve stumbled across in a word search in the daily mirror, and looked up, but subsequently forgot the meaning of.

16.) 14 Sep 2024 23:28:20
Again you'be made the same post before

And guess what it's still wrong.

17.) 15 Sep 2024 19:43:10
Depends what league we are in and what wages he is asking. He must be one of the Champs highest earners.

24 Aug 2024 13:56:28
From the rumours it sounds like another two signings will be coming in.

With how few names are being passed about, are the next two deals being done in the utmost secrecy? Will they be two, big unexpected names?

MoTagain

1.) 24 Aug 2024 14:47:53
I’m pretty sure there will be something unexpected. It wouldn’t be Leeds if there wasn’t!

2.) 24 Aug 2024 16:15:14
Aarons and Mejbri?

3.) 24 Aug 2024 17:11:40
Salomon medical supposedly underway right now, so he ain’t the surprise!

08 Aug 2024 14:23:50
Rumours that Gnonto will be sold on the final day.
Everton bid 23 mil which we rejected.
Anyone heard owt?

MoTagain

1.) 08 Aug 2024 16:55:01
Who picks a specific day someone's going to sign, unless it's a pre contract like Mbappe did because he was a free agent. Doesn't sound right to me that, mate.

2.) 08 Aug 2024 17:59:45
Don’t think we will sell anyone on the final day, but I’ve been wrong before.
I can understand people worrying about it, but as for a rumour that it’s actually going to happen, it’s a bit too specific for me!

3.) 08 Aug 2024 18:10:45
Reeks of bull and why tne final day which would suck also

Keep it quiet from Woody.

4.) 08 Aug 2024 19:54:56
Glad to hear it's shot down. I would rather we keep Gnonto but if he goes, he goes.

5.) 09 Aug 2024 07:50:11
I’m definitely in the camp of keeping Gnonto at all costs tbh. I think he has the ability to return better figures playing on the left than Cree did last season.

6.) 09 Aug 2024 12:11:55
Gnonto possibly sold before the final day.
I wonder what the odds are for a final day sale.

7.) 10 Aug 2024 14:34:44
Would have thought it would be obvious to b e sold then pocket the money and maybe come up with a loanee if we r lucky
Happened with similar last season.

25 Jul 2024 12:25:53
Poveda has signed with Sunderland.

MoTagain

1.) 25 Jul 2024 14:19:03
The lad has undoubted talent. IF he can translate that onto pitch with assists and goals. well.

BUT. so far he hasnt.

2.) 25 Jul 2024 16:05:00
He can and has looked lively, skilful and capable, but only very, very sporadically. No loss to us, but I do think he will come good one day. Great character too. Hope he does well there, and they let us have Jack Clarke back!?

3.) 26 Jul 2024 03:46:41
Poveda more than twice as many games for Leeds than Leif Davis had. You aren't going to kick off about him leaving in three years are ya, Baz? ?.

4.) 26 Jul 2024 08:40:15
Dill I informed you previously of the facts of timing when I actually " kicked off " re LD .

Hey ho.

5.) 26 Jul 2024 09:46:00
I'm sure he will Dill.

6.) 26 Jul 2024 10:07:46
Just having a laugh mate.

03 Jul 2024 10:46:48
Llorente bid turned down.
Kamara receiving interest from France but Leeds have said they do not plan on selling.

MoTagain

1.) 03 Jul 2024 13:18:12
The Llorente deal will get done next week sometime imo. Smart to retain Kamara.

2.) 03 Jul 2024 13:18:12

3.) 04 Jul 2024 00:22:41

What's the general consensus of the forum:

Will Farke be still at ER when DJ returns from injury?

MoTagain

1.) 14 Sep 2024 18:00:28
I hoped that DF would learn from his mistakes of last season BUT he is peeving me off again .

Farke up probably still here just by time Danny is back .

this is a woeful league standard this season and DF is seriously underperforming, his team is also underperforming.

2.) 14 Sep 2024 18:10:01
4 wins in last 15 games! Take away the 2 promotions Pukki got for Norwich and D Farke is an Average Championship Manager with no ideas.

3.) 14 Sep 2024 19:07:54
Relegation form, ???. Farke out. Another German in. Tuchel. Or try get Marcelo back.

4.) 15 Sep 2024 09:23:21
Tuchel has turned down PL jobs. Marcelo is loyal, and won’t leave Uruguay. Take Baz’s oft used advice, and try to keep it real, eh?
So far, only Dill has thrown a name out there that would be a realistic / obtainable replacement for Farke. No one else asking for his head has come up with anything feasible or realistic.

12 Sep 2024 17:01:20
Dan James out for a month with a hamstring injury.

Who plays in his place? Gnonto? Ramazani?

MoTagain

1.) 12 Sep 2024 17:32:31
Oh fgs very disappointing news.

2.) 12 Sep 2024 17:38:25
No DJ. no party (literally)

3.) 12 Sep 2024 19:48:58
Unfortunate timing for DJ. going to struggle to be a starter again this season now with so much competition for spots. 5 weeks plenty of time for the new lads to nail down their place. Super sub when he's fit again. Truth be told it's the role I expected him to take as the season progressed, but this has expedited that idea a bit.

4.) 13 Sep 2024 08:04:39
Agree with that Dill, he’s going to find it tough to get a start with Solomon, Ramazani and Gnonto jostling for places. Great that we’ve got plenty of quality competition on the wings.

5.) 13 Sep 2024 09:13:12
Yh it's a good headache to have for Farke. Sure DJ will make some good contributions when he's back fit, as well.

6.) 13 Sep 2024 09:58:12
Agree re expediting DJs move to the bench. It’ll be Gnonto and Manor with Ramma on the bench tomorrow for me. Can still see Willy transitioning at some point to the 10role, with Largie coming on for BA. I think we will take the 3 points tomorrow, not necessarily with ease, but with sufficient in reserve to put a marker out there for the rest of the division to see.

7.) 13 Sep 2024 13:30:18
Be careful what you wish for Dill and Co

Stats state that Super Dan James is super when STARTING matches!

Nearly ALL of his 21 goals contribitions were scored when he started matches . often in first half of matches!

We have already lost 50 plus goal contrubitions in CS and GR. and now you guys wanna lose another 21?.

8.) 13 Sep 2024 13:35:29
. and Ramazzani and Solomon are gonner need to improve upon their one goal in 6 games stats too .

And as for Brights suggestion of Gnonto in the 10 . yep maybe but he too needs to step it up too in goals and particularly assists.

Last season he got just 2 assists! .

9.) 13 Sep 2024 15:37:15
Gnonto is a little too greedy for 10. He runs with the ball but hasn't learned when to the best time to pass it is. It's a trait he picked up from his friends Rutter and Summerville.
I like arranson in that position because he has the right attitude and his humility means he will more often than not pass the ball than go for glory.

10.) 13 Sep 2024 16:33:13
Good points MOTagain.

11.) 13 Sep 2024 20:09:54
Mot I beg to differ on gnonto. All the times I have seen him play he always has his head up looking for a pass.
As I pointed out last season him and archie had a good understanding down the right. He is much more likely to play the first time pass than cree or gio.
I pegged him for a possible 10 last year.

12.) 13 Sep 2024 21:46:41
You’re on a roll Ben. Well put once more!

13.) 13 Sep 2024 21:51:33
Dj don’t get back in the team. Anyone seen the leeds kit promos all the players do the maradonna with ease they are pro footballers James looks like he is constantly losing control

He just is not a tevhincal player. His first touch is the kind that his second is a header or a tackle.

14.) 13 Sep 2024 22:51:22
An ex professional player a lad I used to play with for West London got a contract at Chelsea and went on to play hundreds of games at the bridge. His nickname was tackle as his first touch was so bad.
He was however a great player despite his deficiencies which goes to show that no player is perfect.

15.) 13 Sep 2024 23:32:18
Yep that's right Berma clever fella drop last seasons 2nd highest scorer fgs

Even in Bermondsey cloud cuckoo land goals get promotion not pointless showboating keepie uppies fella.

16.) 14 Sep 2024 00:57:49
Spot on Corkster . Vinny Jones not the best technically . but man he was integral to LUFC promotion in 89/ 90!

17.) 14 Sep 2024 08:59:00
Listen I rate James just saying he is inconsistent and a purple patch player. For my money he will become a bench option behind our other players.

18.) 14 Sep 2024 09:00:26
Disagree about vinnie, he had a rep that he tried to stick to but when Strachan put it on him it changed the way he played. Vinnie showed that season he could be technical when needed.

19.) 14 Sep 2024 09:32:12
Vinnie Jones was vastly more technically capable than he was ever given credit for, and every member of that promotion winning squad states as much. I played against him once in a pro am, and at that level it was a walk in the park for him.
And Ben, totally. Conversely to DJ, one of Gnonto’s strengths is his ability to lift his head with the ball, such is his close control ability. Perfect for the 10 role.

20.) 14 Sep 2024 10:18:40
The great Howard Wilkinson jettisoned Vinnie upon promotion for the far more technically gifted Gary McAllister . nuff said

And Gnonto " perfect "? ?. Bright he got just 2 assists last season.

21.) 14 Sep 2024 11:47:16
To be fair on gnonto baz it was a stop start season for him with injuries and he did play on the right for most of it.
I would like to think he will be more prolific this season from the left or drifting in.
Just look at the ball he played to Joseph that wound up to be aaronson goal. Spot on.

22.) 14 Sep 2024 15:38:26
Indeed Ben. Sense and reality. But they don’t come into someone’s posts unless it suits their chosen rhetoric.

02 Sep 2024 21:43:26
When we return from the break, who would your starting 11 be and in what formation?

Would you drop Amps back and slot in a new midfielder? Would you play Gnonto in 10? Solomon on the wings? Ramazani on the bench?

Share your thoughts!

MoTagain

1.) 02 Sep 2024 23:43:18
Meslier
Bogle
Firpo
Struick
Ampadu (defence)
Gruev
Tanaka
Solomon
James (assuming fit)
Gnonto (in the 10)
Joseph

I'd drop Rodon right now. He'll win his place back. I'd also ensure Amps joins the DM position as often as possible as we've seen from him.

2.) 02 Sep 2024 23:51:01
Think we'll see the same starting 11, providing there are no injuries on int duty or in training.

Longer term I think Ao comes in for Gruev. Clear that Gruev has been tasked with being the more advanced of the pivot with Amps. I think as time goes on DF will see that Ao can fulfil that role better. And we see some rotation between Largie, Aaronson, Gnonto, Solomon, which means DJ will be used less this season, imo. Long term I also think Rodon may cause us issues, but he's fine for right now.

3.) 03 Sep 2024 00:49:47
It’s good having the options. Both above opinions have some merit team wise. I think back 5 for away games and 4 at home. Ao gives the ability to juggle now. Ao and Gruev could cover if Amps goes back.
Agree dill. Think Dj will struggle for starts from here on barring injuries.
What’s happened to Rodon. Crazy drop in form. Maybe he not settled with struik as partner?

4.) 03 Sep 2024 01:08:37
Is Gruev that much of a weak link that he can be parked in favour of AO? Likewise James and Solomon and Gnonto and Arronson?

Or is it that we have a very dynamic team and we can chop and change the tactics if breadth or depth are needed?

I think amps Rodon and struijk should be the backline trio. Amps will do well anywhere but it seems he prefers to be on the backline to have eyes on the full team.

5.) 03 Sep 2024 01:38:03
Dill I respect your opinion greatly but Gruev is a Bulgarian I love.

6.) 03 Sep 2024 02:58:04
DJ used less Dill?

Blasphemy.

7.) 03 Sep 2024 05:53:18
Gruev isn't a weak link by any means. In fact he played really well Saturday. My thought process is just that Ampadu is captain so he's a guaranteed starter. He'll be the one sitting in at 6 as I don't think he's needed in that back line given he drops back so much throughout the game anyway (something I don't really like tbh) . Gruev seems to have been given the impetus to push on a bit more. So the options for a more advanced player in the pivot boil down to him, Ao and Rothwell. Long term I think Ao is the player more suited to that role. He's pretty elegant, technical and more of a proggressive passer and I think he'll offer us more goal involvements from that position. Gruev should probably start in tough away games to give us a more robust pivot defensively.

And unfortunately, Baz. With Bogle becoming a defacto winger while we are in possession, the need for someone hugging the line (DJ) becomes lesser than someone with the ability to play inside forward and drift into the half spaces. Plus I don't think DJ is that intelligent of a footballer compared to the others. He found terrific form last season, but we have better options available to us when all are fit and at their best. DJ should be utilised as an impact sub, imo. But that is only my personal preference.

I like the idea of chopping and changing tactics to suit MoT. Whether Farke does is a different matter. Hopefully he doesn't rule it out.

Regarding weak links, I'd probably say Rodon is my main worry so far this season. Although not to the point where I think he needs replacing. He just needs to find his form again. Out of form he just seems so scattered brained, getting pulled out of position and being caught under the ball. Although positionally he does have to cover Bogle a fair bit so maybe not so much his fault. Also hate how we split the CBs so far apart when Mes is in possession. Leaves us way too exposed given Mes is not the greatest distributor. Hopefully the three back to back to back clean sheets and some positive international results gives Rodon a much needed boost for when the break is over.

8.) 03 Sep 2024 11:39:27
I think Farke likes Gruev there because it give Firpo license to get forward. Whether that’s needed is up to debate.

9.) 03 Sep 2024 12:10:21
Good point, Corky. He does cover when Firpo bombs on.

10.) 03 Sep 2024 12:37:34
I’m agreeing with George here. I know lots of top Bulgarians tho, so I’d expand that part.

11.) 03 Sep 2024 13:04:06
Guruve played well Saturday and was good last season. I think so takes his place but great competition

Rodon has had dip but I think it’s just a blip

I agree with James being dropped more he is technically the weakest player in our attack and very hit and Miss.

12.) 03 Sep 2024 13:35:56
how dare DJ get all those goals and assists last season

Luckiest player on planet. pure flukes eh Berma lol ?.

13.) 03 Sep 2024 14:49:32
Don't need to be a technical player to score and assist, Baz. In fact, I do seem to remember DJ tripping over in front of an open net, falling on the ball that then went to Piroe, who then scored ?

Bermo is correct here. Technically the least gifted of our wingers/ inside forwards.

14.) 03 Sep 2024 15:36:59
DJ criticism is somewhat deserved but imo his inclusion creates tactical issues for the defence with his pace especially for the opponent LB. Not exactly an abundance of capable LBs in this league. To use Bielsa words, that imbalances their defence creating opportunities for others. He starts for me. I also like his effort as well as his goals.

15.) 03 Sep 2024 17:40:36
What me bro Georgey said

apart from the opening 5 words.

16.) 03 Sep 2024 18:21:55
Fair comment, George. Its for that reason why I think he'd be good used as an impact sub later on when legs are tired. Can't knock his effort at all. definitely a team player and eill do the dog work others don't enjoy doing.

17.) 03 Sep 2024 19:57:52
The main thing is it’s great to have these options. Up to the manager to utilise them all correctly.

18.) 04 Sep 2024 08:05:45
Dan James biggest asset is his speed, it’s very difficult for defenders to track him. He’s not the greatest technically but an honest worker who has improved under Farke with his assists and goal scoring.
Still prefer him to be an impact player from the bench rather than starting though.

Gnonto has signed a new contract to 2028.

I wonder if the club did this because they thought he could leave?

MoTagain

29 Aug 2024 23:02:12
24 hours left until the close of the window but so far, we have had some great signings with a few more hopefully closing out.

It looks good to be a Leeds fan and much better than it did two weeks ago.

We will walk this league this year.

MoTagain

1.) 29 Aug 2024 23:20:53
hmmm this walk the league stuff .

its gonner have to be a hell of a final day of incomings then.

2.) 30 Aug 2024 01:35:49
Did we actually sign anybody on Thursday? Yesterday.

3.) 30 Aug 2024 02:16:04
Burnley were the team predicted to finish 1st, with Leeds 2nd. Our squad has just been strengthened beyond doubt while Burnley have been decimated.

The club's that finished in the top six (minus promotion spots) last year are weaker this year, with the exception of Leeds.

We got this.

4.) 30 Aug 2024 06:29:02
Love me a strap line, I do .
Walking it
We got this
Going to be our year
Etc etc etc

When a team can play like we did at smoggies and even worse at Baggies,

There's massive reality check needed

We got to put in a big effort to get anything from this league.

5.) 30 Aug 2024 09:01:42
Another couple o strap lines for yer then Chris; “taking ugly points”, and “still settling in”………??.

6.) 30 Aug 2024 10:49:54
Accurate post Chrissy.

7.) 30 Aug 2024 10:07:06
And dropping them too brighty to be fair.

8.) 30 Aug 2024 13:50:26
I believe they will be seen as valuable points come the end of the season Aussie.

Agree Brighty.
The tactical versatility along will be brilliant.

Tanaka feeding balls to Joseph, arranson, gnonto/ ramazani or James/ Solomon will be fun to watch.

I'm excited to see what we look like when we return in September. It's going to be fun.

Genuine question for the football eggheads; why do we need another midfielder?

We have Gruev, Rothwell, arranson and amperdu. Is it for extra cover incase people move around in the formation?

Baz,

I'll admit, arms up, that I never considered the possibility that Farke would be on the same lack of form as last season, though I did believe (and hopefully mentioned) that RB/ 49ers would shed Farke if he didn't get the team back to its best. He has so far failed to do that so the rumours of him going reassure me that 49ers/ RB are taking no prisoners.

It may be a tactical decision by 49ers to not buy a CF, I know that sounds crackers but if we did buy one and he papered over the cracks of Farkes weaknesses, would we repeat last season where we fall apart on the final stretch?

We have enough goal scorers in the team to get us through to January, but if they're not working, then a CF means little.

He's got the versatility to play with. If we stick with 4-2-3-1 formation (we shouldn't but ok)

Meslier
Amps (Bungle) , Rodon, struijk, Firpo
Gruev, Rothwell
Solomon (Gnonto) , Arronson (Piroe) DJ (ramazani)
Joseph.

4 4 2 with wingers in midfield and MJ and BA upfront could work. Push all four mids up the field.

Bright

I think Rodon needs Amps. Not that Rodon can't stand on his own, he can, but I think he struggles with Bogle not covering the areas that Amps did.
Our defense was much, much better last season. Why change it when we have so many decent MFs to choose from?
Gruev and Rothwell in midfield is a solid duo. Rothwell needs more play time.

Opti,

Managers won't come to Leeds because the shirt is heavy. Many players, commentators and managers have discussed the atmosphere at Elland road. If that is something a manager doesn't like, they won't come.
Look at any game from last season, the majority of them had the fans singing before we scored, then when we did, even if we were behind, the fans got louder and louder and we were knocking them in for fun.
You could feel the delight when we faced Leicester and Norwich. Even watching games, you can feel the excitement and anticipation that "were going to score soon". None of that is there anymore.

A Leeds manager has to manage the team, sure. But they need to know how to manage the crowds and built the excitement for the fans. The fans are the twelfth player on the pitch, something that has been discussed before.
