Well, I wonder this summers going bring us. I hope that radz is aware of what we need to go up and he will try his best to bring in some decent players, but our issue is going to be retaining our best ones. Can see teams coming in for Clarke, Shackleton, janson and kp. I think we need 10-15 mil for 3-4 decent players.

Agree1 Disagree0

He was aware last summer and didn't address it what makes you think he will this year.

this league ain't about money look at cardiff sheff utd and norwich,

we need faith in youth and couple of celver signings

money don't win this league nasty horrible football and a style that suits second teir football does

cardiff and sheff utd show how to go up in this league, average players playing an average but effective system.

He wasn’t aware if his manager was telling him he had all the resources he needed! I’m more with Georgie than you Wex on Radz over the season. Think the lack of more activity during the summer more understandable with Bielsas sales pitch. During the year the picture is muddier due to,1. Sale of viera, late preseason, 2. Departure of Saiz, 3. Departure of Baker and 4. Non arrival of James.

Now is different, don’t think Bielsa thinks this group can do it again, so more changes needed this summer in Bielsas eyes. First question for me, does Bielsa really have the energy and desire to do it all again? Second, does he know what and who he needs to change? Third, will and can the club support him? For me you need three yeses to make it worthwhile to keep Bielsa. If there is even one no, better with a new plan and new boss or we will have tears, tantrums and a new boss before Christmas.

Good post Bermo, lots of truth in that. We have to remember lots of ingredients were there. One of only three clubs seriously challenging for automatic promotion, virtually all season and in the play offs. Success in many ways! What were the missing ingredients?

16 May 2019 10:29:27
i can tell you the missing ingrediants

firstly a keeper who was reliable both our keepers where capable of great saves and huge mistakes, reliablity is key

too much relaiance on average players such a cooper and beradi

no cover for pablo and inability to repalce saiz

unable to find plan b against poor teams (nine defeats against teams placed 13th in league or lower is far too many)

lack of clinical finishing

finally my fav building a team around phillips in defensive mid. for all his qualities the lad can't run and tackle and puts pressure on defence and has cost us time and again, as a wise man said on day one, a team with phillips as defensive mid will not get promoted. the lad would be amazing in spain or italy but we need a different answer for high pace quick turn over english football

answer these and mix in with great youth with mb learning and next year we will walk this league.

Bermondsey, in attempting to come up with your version of an explanation, not having a go, but that’s all it is, you have clearly answered the question about whether we have over achieved or under achieved. With that massive list of faults we have clearly over achieved as there was no way all of those were going to be solved in jan. That’s a list that was always going to need more than one season to address. In that kind of a timeframe, Third and playoffs is an achievement. You seem to be estimating 6/ 7 new first team players!

16 May 2019 11:40:29
no spanish you misunderstand

Sheff utd are in prem we aint. we underachieved.

it is not about missing players it is about tweaks. it is about hoof ball, the only thing we was missing was a defnesive mid who can protect back four and have grit to grind out results. had we kept veria or played shacks more and switched style we would of beat

wigan, ipsiwch, hull, blackbrun, qpr and brum. then we would of gone up

leeds ain't gone up due to our underacievement not due to players. sad but give us chris wilder and them MB and i think we would of gone up. the football would of been awful but promotion would of been sweet.

16 May 2019 12:29:11
You thought we would struggle to get into the playoffs, we over achieved! At Christmas after 4 months to analyse the opposition you predicted we wouldn’t get automatic, you were right! Don’t get how that is under achievement when based on who we had playing for us and who we had to play against, you didn’t think it would happen!

16 May 2019 15:35:45
13th to 3rd with almost the same players, in fact fewer, is definitely over achieving.
Always looking for positives, we are on a much better financial footing than we have been for nearly two decades. Norwich and Blunts spent very little and delivered as others have said, which shows that it’s not about money, but to paraphrase Bermo, consistency and reliability are critical, and we have just not had that when it’s counted most. We’ve destroyed the best teams in this league, and lost to relegation fodder. That lack of consistency is what has cost us.
