Anybody know why some transfer offers are weird amounts. Like $60.8 mill instead of $60 or $61 mill?

It's a standard practice in negotiation to use non rounded numbers. could partly be that? Maybe also the use of %age clauses? Agents fees are also often %ages?
Just speculating, as its an interesting question!

Probably an exact number in one currency (say Euros) that someone has converted to Pounds Sterling.

Thought of that jr but I’ve seen plenty when all are weird. Anyway. Think it boils down to big boys trying to be smart. I mean if you’re willing to pay 60.8. Youd pay 61 right.

As JR said most likely converting between currencies.

Maybe it’s when clubs guesstimate a buyout clause for a player of say £60 million by having a nominal figure over that sum means clubs haven’t triggered the sale?
I’m sure clubs don’t have to declare what a buy out clause is, but that’s a complete guess as my answer has probably already demonstrated.

It's pointless clubs not disclosing the size of buyout clauses, because the player's agent will doubtless blab it out to potential buyers if a big wadge of dosh is in the offing for him. How for instance did BHA come up with a £40m offer for Georgino that exactly matched his buyout clause? Suspicious!
