It’s been a hotly disputed subject during this transfer window as to whether we should sign a striker and LB for what most of us confirm as obviously needed cover in these positions.
I can’t deny that Bamford has spent a long time on the treatment table, especially last season.
Our only cover being Rodrigo who does appear to have a certain renaissance lately and the young advancing Gelhardt, however I do think Bamford will be fit for the larger part of this season.
There was no mistaking that Radz made CDK his prime target this summer but to no avail. The player made it very clear his destination was not Leeds but elsewhere. Judging by his policy of, it’s our targets or nothing is something we will have to live with and a policy ultimately he will live or die by his own sword.
There is a certain arrogance, or is it a confidence? I’m not sure, but I do trust his intentions for his club and his business. It is his asset and I’m certain he wants to build it in his own way.
As fans, we all want more and more signings, we don’t care where the money comes from, just get what we need. I do relate back to Ridsdale often because I always believe if you don’t learn from your errors you will never advance in life.
As fans during the Ridsdale era did any of us think about the outrageous spending on mainly misfits to our club?
Irresponsible or an outrageous gamble?
Call it what you like, Radz is taking a business gamble but is it an outrageous gamble?
Forest have just spent 127 Mil on a shed load of players from here there and everywhere, will it guarantee their survival, absolutely not, Fulham did the same thing only to be relegated that same season.
However fans judge Radz he’s no different from other owners, they all take a gamble on the futures of their clubs, for me he takes the gamble that works so far with promotion to the Premiership and now our 3rd season in it, with no overspending and no FFP dodging.
Call it for what it is and so far we are still in the Premiership currently in 5th position.

OP amusing opinion and fiction

we pretty much know all posters viewpoint on this contentious topic

I will keep it short

I don't believe there was ever any intention of signing CDK by Radz

Secondly why gamble on a repeat of the same scenario as last season; they have had months to sign a striker but evidently zero intent to do so.

Finally SPC (Systems Paranoid Canada ? ) was having a laugh when he today referred to Uncle Pete Risdale as one of my " heroes ' . Wilko yes but not Uncle Pete . but OP are very inaccurate ( as usual) when you refer to Uncle Pete ' signing mainly misfits '

Lol OP who are apart from arguably 3 players Huckerby, Johnson and Duberry

Other signings were good to very good togreat players who one or two maybe were surplus to requirements

Viduka
Ferdinand
Dacourt
Martyn
Bowyer
Bakke
Bridges
Batty
Mills
Keane
Fowler
Wilcox
Hasselbaink.

I agree with you Optimist, but not sure that you’ll convince anyone else who hasn’t already made up their mind! I think we’ve all taken a view on this one. For me a decision for Radz / Orta/ Jesse.

I’m actually more comfortable with the striker position than left back! We have Bamford/ Rodrigo/ Joffy/ greenwood/ DJ and later in the season could see Joseph on the bench. We have options and we’re scoring from other positions.

Left back we have Firpo in the club, today Mcalmont played left back for the under 21s and he’s possibly going out on loan this week. A good young striker that could float between the under 21s and first team squad if needed I could see. But good you g left back even more important for me.

You can trust a thief because you don’t leave thing around for them to nick but you can’t trust a liar because you never know if they are telling the truth, simple.

29 Aug 2022 21:08:45
I think this is a fair summary OP ?.

29 Aug 2022 21:09:52
I also wonder if they genuinely thought they'd get Nketiah, so we missed our top 2 options (possibly 3 with the PSG kid) .
I see no excuse for LB, even if they did feel Firpo is their guy (that's a mistake! ) we knew early enough he was out again so had time.
I expect there is always a list of potential replacements for all positions, so options should have been known.
I can't see any incoming now so hopefully Bamford gets and stays fit, but hope isn't a plan!

Baz a fair post mate, some top players in the list as well.

29 Aug 2022 21:29:26
Not trying to win the doubters over Spanish, I’m fine with their opinions, I’m just trying to purvey a neutral perspective of what is.
Personally I’m very excited for this season, we do have more depth in the squad, midfield is looking considerably healthier. The players that have come in are responding positively and JM appears to have resurrected some flaying players from last season.
Then to top all that we have some very promising youth players who are clearly knocking on the door for the 1st team.
For me Archie Gray is going to be a massive sensation at Leeds and we will see more of him this season.
We are in 5th position and have beaten Wolves and Chelsea so far.
What is there to be so unhappy about being a Leeds fan?

29 Aug 2022 22:11:22
You’re missing the point Baz, he over spent, most of those players were decent but they failed to keep us in the Champions league and consequently Ridsdale drove us into insolvency.
Fowler was not a misfit but did spend most of his time with us injured if you remember, he did score some goals for us though.

29 Aug 2022 22:17:44
Indeed Whitey they were

You don't get to tbe Semi Final of the Champions League

competing in marathon 18 matches

getting through 2 group stages

competing witb and/ or beating AC Milan, Lazio, Barcelona Anderlecht, Real Madrid, Deportivo, 1860 etc

by being a team of ' misfits '

One of OPs more ludicrous posts.

29 Aug 2022 22:45:03
Baz I certainly was having a laugh about your uncle Pete, but not so much on the stats side.
Do some research if you've never heard of these people, Charles Reep, Laurie Shaw or Bastien Quentmiere.
These people have or are changing the game.
If research is too much for you, just watch Moneyball ?
Joking aside it's the modern game and all teams use it for game by game tactics and who would be the right buy.
I'd like us to buy Brightons, Leicester, Brentford or Southamptons analysts as they seem to keep finding high value players that us among others seem to ignore.

29 Aug 2022 22:51:56
OP the team was a good to very good team

The current Leeds team maybe considered ' decent ' just about lol

Yes Uncle Pete overspent and ' gambled ' and missed out by tne finest of. margins and off field controversy

in the 2000/ 2001 season that Leeds reached UCL semis the team finished 4th to Liverpool's 3rd by goal difference or 1 point to qualify for UCL

the following season we were top at New Year but unwise DOL book and court case for LB and JW eventually took its toll it seems on team spirit .

Fine margins.

29 Aug 2022 23:54:59
SCD my maple syrup lovin pal ?

thanks for the names

just to let you know it's Bastian Quentmeier I believe

Yes those teams are far superior to our mob in finding high value players I thought that might improve with 49ers analysts input (different sport though)

Sweet dreams ( or nightmares) thinking of systems Canada ?.

30 Aug 2022 00:06:31
OP "It is his asset and he wants to build it his way". Why are you concentrating on what would be 2019 talk when it's public knowledge he's given an option to purchase to the 49ers? Ever dawn on you his tightening of budget is because he's seeking to maximize his profit in a sale and that sale is around the corner? Rodrigo is not a CF. Not signing cover for frequently crocked Bambi is an epic omission of steroidal lunacy.

30 Aug 2022 00:13:23
Baz Did chuckle ? at "mainly misfits" ?. I want more misfits! If we'd acquired an extra misfit or two we might have won the Champions League. Baz Misfit ?.

30 Aug 2022 01:52:07
Georgeth indeed lol a humorous sizeable gaffe by OP
I want Leeds to sign a ' misfit ' Mark Viduka and a 'misfit' Olivier Dacourt .

30 Aug 2022 03:53:28
Bazadamus And a misfit Ian Harte would come in handy too!

30 Aug 2022 06:32:37
You just prefer to pick up on perhaps a word that was exaggerated rather than concerning your empty heads on what actually happened to Leeds United twenty years ago
Uncle Pete who slightly got it wrong put us in League one and out of the Premiership for 17 years, the club very nearly disappeared for good. We also had to put put up with filthy stains like Bates and GFH who were thieves.
You pair are not even worth discussing Leeds United with because you’ve both got your heads firmly cemented up your own backsides.
I’m very happy with our current owner and the direction he has taken us, we’ve got a decent squad which is evolving and getting better in the Premiership.
You instant success people who think you know all about Premiership football club ownership can carry on believing your own very uninformed beliefs.
I’m just enjoying our football now and that we are back in the Premiership.

30 Aug 2022 07:15:12
“Never intended to sign CdK”.
Unfounded, unsupported, foundationless bull, yet again.
What a load of toss, and it’s boring as well as bull.

30 Aug 2022 07:46:21
Brighton's man is after jumping ship straight onto Saudi express in barcode land, Canada

He seems a very astute D o F.

30 Aug 2022 10:23:37
How is it Bull Brighty . even if he wanted CDK . he you and the world knew it was never happening.

30 Aug 2022 14:45:25
I Was very much around in the uncle Peter days and I don’t know one Leeds fan at that time who didn’t want what Peter wanted we all lived the Dream probably we had the same banker that took all Noel Edmonds millions away from him we were robbed by crooks in the football world to but posters on here have to keep Blaming one man only so let’s put it to bed, it’s was the bank who could not wait to get there money, the footballing Body’s all the Leeds fans and then Peter it’s was a dream we all had and we all have to take the blame two not just one man. We still dream to this very day hoping we can be the Man Utd’s or the Chelsea, City but with out backing we are a long way from that, Leeds we all are.
