According to reports, Spurs want between £10-15m for Rodon. Given he's entering the last year of his contract, I think an opening bid of £8m would be my preference. I think he's worth more but let's test Levy's resolve with a low end bid. He's happy here and his contract situation means he (and we) may have some leverage to push a deal through.

Dillinger

{Ed002's Note - They will say no and his fee will rise.}

1.) 13 Feb 2024 12:21:43
Levy is well known to get the price he asks for sadly. The structure of the deal is possibly the only Leeway we will have, or a player plus cash deal, which none of us will want!

2.) 13 Feb 2024 12:30:32
Levy always a f*cker to deal with.

3.) 14 Feb 2024 12:55:07
Get promoted. Buy him.
Not promoted. No chance.
Great guy. Seems to love the club and players.
Fingers crossed.

Leeds apparently taking a shine to Flamengo CF Pedro (25 years old. 185cm)

Very impressive stats. He's scored 23 and assisted 9 in all comps this season. That's 32 goal involvements in 50 games. Impressive stuff. More impressive when you break down how much game time he's actually had in said games, as it works out at a goal involvement every 109 mins.

Appears to be your typical goal poacher in the box, scoring tap ins, reacting to loose balls, running channels for through balls and generally being a nuisance for defenders. He's also comfortable striking them from outside the box. Clinical. Close control is very good and he interlinks play well. He's the focal point of pretty much every attack. Can finish with both feet, too. Positionally aware, a physical presence, strong in the air and possesses a good turn of pace.

He appears to be your quintessential number 9 with most, if not all, of the attributes you'd like to see in one. Player I'd most liken him to would be a young Cavani. Very high praise.

There's talk of him heading to the world cup (already capped once in 2020) given his form, so this is one we may miss out on if we sit on our hands as the shop window will be well and truly open.

He had signed a pre-contract with Real Madrid back in 2019, but an ACL injury scuppered the deal, before he eventually moved to Fiorentina a year later. He would struggle for game time there making only 4 appearances. Now he appears to have grown exponentially as a player and would really add something special to our team should he come.

If we were willing to splash £35m on CDK, then this is a deal of similar value to me. Open the cheque book and get him signed before his valuation sky rockets.

Dillinger

1.) 08 Sep 2022 13:37:40
He sounds top notch but my only misgiving would be; if he is so good why not a starter for 11th placed Fiorentina. Surely they must see his exponential growth.
I hope you are right and he is a gem waiting to be found, we could do with another Raphina. Law of averages says that somewhere out there is some young lad, with it all, waiting to be discovered.

2.) 08 Sep 2022 14:20:51
He was still fairly inexperienced in general and no european experience back then. He's come on loads now. Plus they had Vlahovic and Chiesa back then.

Definitely appears ready for the pressure of a big league now.

3.) 08 Sep 2022 22:05:31
Isn't the window shut though?

4.) 09 Sep 2022 02:15:03
Yeah but pre contracts can be signed still.

Phil Hay hinting at a Cooper start on Monday against Forest.

"Liam Cooper was on the bench on Saturday.

"And having hinted beforehand that in his mind's eye, Cooper and Robin Koch were his ideal centre-back pairing, Marsch might find himself turning that way before Nottingham Forest tip up at Elland Road next Monday. ".

Leeds apparently taking a look at Coventy's Viktor Gyokeres (CF) .

He's someone I've touted a fair few times on this forum as being a great budget signing from the Championship.

He's someone I really think would compliment the team and would get better once with us. Bags of potential and very talented right now.

The lad is a Swedish international. He's a very strong and direct runner on the ball, has a knack for getting on the ball in the box, whether low or high crosses or reacting to loose balls. His interlinking play is an asset. He runs channels and breaks well and most of all he can finish.

I'd rather sign him over Hwang, considering the cost and potential upside. I see more potential in Gyokeres.

Dillinger

1.) 31 Aug 2022 17:28:08
Totally agree there Dilli, and I would get Gnoto too, just to make sure that any injury curse has a brick wall of strikers to get past!

2.) 31 Aug 2022 19:23:12
Apparently they want £9m for Gyokeres. definitely worth a punt. And yes, I'd take Gnoto too, but looking likely he'll come next summer on a free if we can sign a pre-contract.

3.) 01 Sep 2022 08:32:10
Having apparently missed out on Gakpo, let’s hope we can get a deal done for this guy before Southampton or anyone else snap him up.

What a result last night!

Massive game today, as they all are now.

I want to see a higher tempo and plenty of energy. Let's set our stall out early and high press from our attackers to force the opposition. I want to see a lot more vertical passing from our midfielders and defenders and some early crosses today, instead of all the cutbacks where defenders have already overloaded the space. let's have plenty of overlapping from the full backs. And like Ipswich, keep peppering the net with shots instead of giving that extra pass when it's not needed.

Main thing to avoid is becoming pedestrian with our passing once again. The tempo was so slow Tuesday, taking 8 passes instead of 3 or 4 and it's easy for teams to defend with a low block against that. We became too predictable and lacked any urgency.

And let's inject some energy at the right moment. We could have done with a triple substitution a good 20 mins earlier than when Piroe, Joseph and Roberts came on.

Let's have Roberts on the long throws from the off and try win some first balls in the air. We need to be causing havoc in the box off of those long throws. The ball could end up anywhere.

Take the game to Blackburn and put the pressure on Ipswich for the later kick off.

We can do it!, chaps!

Dillinger

1.) 13 Apr 2024 06:18:22
Totally agree and need to take advantage of leicester slip up, they still have 2 tricky games.
Would like roberts and Joseph to start and maybe rest kamara and use gray.
Will we ever score from a corner?, going to be crazy and state it will happen today.

2.) 13 Apr 2024 07:25:14
Agree dill and melb.

3.) 13 Apr 2024 08:04:40
Can't argue with that excellent comment Aussie.

4.) 13 Apr 2024 08:14:41
Well that’s the team talk sorted Dill
Any chance you could deliver it with Dallas along side?

5.) 13 Apr 2024 08:22:31
My bug bear a few times this season Dill

The tempo, crucial we play at a high 1, we all too regularly win when we dictate this

We do teams a big favour by playing slow, side passing ball,

Jimmy is way more effective in an uptempo game

We can do this ?.

6.) 13 Apr 2024 09:16:31
Thanks Koch. I try to make all my posts interesting and informative. Largely succeed too.
Nice to know you enjoy them bruvver.

7.) 13 Apr 2024 09:30:20
Incisive, straight to the point Aus.

8.) 13 Apr 2024 09:46:24
Spot on dill. We need the tempo in our game it pulls players out of position and forces defenders into mistakes.
We need a blistering Elland Road start to the game something that Blackburn cannot live with. Get them on the back foot.
Get the fans going and set the tone for the last few games.

9.) 13 Apr 2024 09:48:21
Koch and Aus! ????
Good posts all ‘round! Agree 100% with all! Think we will see a good performance today, and Boro will help us later on too. Really looking forward to this one! MOT!

Per Joe Donnohue on twitter:

"Leeds have underperformed their xG at attacking set-pieces by a greater degree than every other Ch'ship team this season, except Sheff Wed. Blackburn and QPR to come; both have conceded 15 goals from set-plays this year - a joint-Ch'ship high. "

One thing that's been a persistent fault to our game over the past many years, no matter the manager, has been set pieces. Why are we so bad? It's baffling as we've had different managers and personnel yet still can't figure it out.

Do we have a set piece coach anymore?

Dillinger

1.) 12 Apr 2024 20:20:09
If I was able to turn back time I would fetch Pablo and Pontus

Till then could play Cressy and 100% have DJ on corners and free kicks

Do journalists actually ask DF about this issue?

It needs sorting!

2.) 12 Apr 2024 21:02:54
It’s as tho people have it in their heads that Cressy will score from every set piece we have!? Incredible! ?
What about the impact he would have on our play from the back, or do we just resort to long ball every GK?
What about his inexperience defensively? Would that impact our very good goals conceded stats this year?
There are pros, sure. Doubt they are as extreme as some would hope.
Equally tho, there would be cons too, but these are ignored due to an obsession that has no legs to it.

3.) 12 Apr 2024 21:36:45
Brighty Don't think anyone on here has even suggested that Cressy involvement at set pieces is tantamount to a 100% return. However, it's undeniable he'd improve us in that department. As for possible defensive frailty, you are quite right but we'd gain in the midfield by relocating Amps. I think the pros of his presence would outweigh the cons.

4.) 12 Apr 2024 22:13:02
I seem to recall that until Struijk got injured we were doing rather better from set pieces this season - he could possibly have got close to double figures if he’d remained fit, and his presence in the opposition box freed up space for others too.

5.) 12 Apr 2024 22:13:55
Rodon and amps are not the best in the air. Struijk and coops are fare better.
Coops has always faired OK with teams that like to throw it into the box.
I would like to see a bit more inventiveness on set plays. We don't have the aerial presence but we keep just chucking it in there.

6.) 12 Apr 2024 22:15:21
Fair enough George. Don’t agree, but fair enough if that’s how you’re thinking. ??.

7.) 13 Apr 2024 09:51:48
But they do well in the air defensively, Ben? As I’ve said before, how can they not perform the same way in the oppo box? ???.

09 Apr 2024 19:14:52
Still think we will win tonight, but not really happy with Bamford starting and Kamara has looked very fatigued after that sickness too. Probably both needed dropping tonight.

These ruthless decisions are ones that need to be made. Great managers make those kind of decisions regularly.

Starting a perenially misfiring striker when there are capable players to replace seems pretty simple to me, but it is what it is.

Anyway, I've had my moan so will end on a positive note

Happy Amps is starting so we avoid the Cooper dilemma.

Leeds 2-0 MOT

Let's gooooo.

Dillinger

1.) 09 Apr 2024 22:13:14
Insane ?? prediction. Mine wasn't.

08 Apr 2024 15:03:40
Listening to Farke's presser is pretty dismal.

Amps potentially unable to play due to sickness.

Roberts felt a twinge late in the game so unlikely to start.

Gnonto has a slight muscle issue and unlikely to start.

Praising Bamford ?‍♂️?‍♂️

Consider me concerned with the injuries and annoyed if PB starts after his woeful performances the past 3 games.

Dillinger

1.) 08 Apr 2024 15:36:13
A must win game and Calamity Cooper potentially playing.

I would way prefer Cresswell or even his younger bro

Playoffs await.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know why you say these things Baz?, is it so that if you dont go up automatically that you can say "i told you so", you are supposed to be a leeds supporter mate..then support ffs..

2.) 08 Apr 2024 16:27:27
Let's hope for no insanity, Dill.

3.) 08 Apr 2024 16:39:23
Fingers crossed Amps gets the green light. If not then it will be Cooper over Cressy. The kid has played two 1 min appearances and a 6 min appearance in the last 39 games. 8 mins in 39 games tells me he's not going to be picked and nor should he. As much as it pains me Cooper will have to start.

Still think we get it done, but losing Amps would be a blow. Gray and James will start RB and RW, I'd imagine.

Guessing some players have had the sh! tty bug that's gone round in the past few weeks (had it myself) as Kamara was ill previously and now Amps.

Fingers crossed he can battle it out and start.

4.) 08 Apr 2024 16:52:38
Blooming hope so Dill re Amps.

5.) 08 Apr 2024 15:56:31
Aimo Ed025 but in 2024 Leeds should not be relying on Cooper. his 2019 playoffs gaffe with Kiko still fresh for starters.

{Ed025's Note - mistakes happen Baz, thats football im afraid mate..

6.) 08 Apr 2024 16:20:16
Ed ?????.

7.) 08 Apr 2024 16:42:15
Ed025 Baz is ever so slightly a ITYS merchant. Who isn't when they predict and get it right? However, in my opinion, the vast majority of his intent is to warn the club, manager and fans that significant errors are being made. On this occasion, the error is team selection and insufficient rotation (causing lethargy and minor injuries) . Baz knowledge doesn't detract from his fan loyalty. Like me, he's disappointed with certain things and voicing his opinion on the forum (which is what's it meant for, is it not? ) . Baz can see problems and things possibly falling apart. He does get a tad whiney sometimes but this doesn't invalidate his view. Just makes him guilty of repetition. Personally, I think he's the best poster this site has ever had.

{Ed025's Note - im not saying hes not a good poster George, but it does seem he has nothing positive to say mate and considering the position you are in i find that astounding, by the way i dont mind people expressing their views even if we dont all agree with it, but we do need a bit of positivity i feel or it just brings the tone down imo..

8.) 08 Apr 2024 17:34:25
It's a bad time to be missing players. Good job we have a couple of home matches next.

9.) 08 Apr 2024 17:42:30
Baz That makes you insane according to Dill. Waiting on Dill to post the same ?.

10.) 08 Apr 2024 17:46:16
We will win regardless of who starts - I'm staying positive!

11.) 08 Apr 2024 18:02:52
Ed025 Good reply from you again. In a ??, I'm negative because my positivity stays on the bench for over an hour during a 90 minute contest. Meanwhile I've got to watch the "Air Show Master" kicking lumps out of the atmosphere when a clear cut chance presents itself. ?.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think any of us are any different George mate..

12.) 08 Apr 2024 18:14:09
Excellent insightful spot on post from start to finish George ? ? ? ? ? ? ? you comprehend where others can't " fathom " . and that's more than fine.

To add one extra point I think J being brought up on a lot of success and excellence ✨️ under Revie Legends for well a decade and a half ish makes one yearn for more success and extra critical when it doesn't happen!

It is what it is .

13.) 08 Apr 2024 19:23:53
He’s not warning a soul anywhere, because apart from us here, words from here get nowhere, so that is a load of ego inflating twoddle yet again. I think you’ll find that no one else here likes to focus on their predictions, or being right, apart from our two special ones. It’s either “I told you we were going down” or “I told you he should have played earlier / I said years ago he should be playing”. Great. Eat another dodgy mushroom to really bloat those egos if that’s what floats yer boat, but that’s clearly not why the rest of us are on here, nor is it what we come to read.

14.) 08 Apr 2024 20:02:27
Not keen on mushrooms ? .

{Ed025's Note - but you are a fun guy Baz.. :)

15.) 08 Apr 2024 20:08:37
Wasn't meant to offend, George. Just meant it's an insane choice (not attacking your character, just solely the choice) to pick a lad who has played 8 mins in the last 39 games. Not really a rational choice, is it tbf mate?

16.) 08 Apr 2024 20:39:09
Cheers Ed025 ? ? I have my moments.

121 goals scored between Ipswich and Plymouth.

Should be in with a chance today Plymouth, as plenty of opportunity to attack Ipswich with both teams playing quite open.

(Likely score ends up 0-0 ??)

Think we could identify a quality replacement for cheaper, too. Someone like Philogene, Nusa, Odobert, to name a few examples.

Dedicated a large portion of the presser to Stuey D ?

Paraphrasing here but he said you can't drop points, only gain them and we gained a point which took us a point closer to the top. He'd love to win every game but it's so difficult to win game after game after game. Teams are difficult to play against at this stage as they either have no pressure (secured EFL status) or they're fighting for something (avoid relegation or going for playoffs) .

Said he's respective of Blackburn as he's not sure what team will turn up. Szmodics is in red hot form for them this season and they are dangerous, as seen against Sunderland a couple of weeks back (5-1) thinks they'll be motivated to show a reaction to big midweek loss.

He said everyone from the last game is in good shape and have had a few extra days now to get fully fit. We're in a much better position than midweek (and 10 days ago) in that regard, mentioned Ampadu, Roberts and Gnonto by name.

He understands the nerves from fans but we're in a good position and our form this year has been the best in the league.

In regards to his in-game management he said he and his staff Tey to be self critical but at the end of the day you never really know what intact a player may have at what time. It's important that he trusts his group of players.

Later mentions:
Won manager of the month 3x
Nominated for manager of the season
Having the best ever season with the club
Least goals conceded
Best home record in the league
Best home record in the history of the club
87 points after 40 games
Best goal difference

So he trusts his players and has a gut feeling having won promotion from this league previously.

Personally, I liked what he said and y mentioned certain players by name I'd assume and hope that means they're in contention to start today. I nothing of note about Bamford and his form this week, so could be telling as he's not defending him as he was at the last presser.

Excited to see the team selection after positive words from the manager!
