What do the Beeb have to do with it?
11 May 2026 15:47:09
For a 27 man squad next season
We keep.
Perri, Darlow, Struijk, Bijol, Rodon, GG, Bogle, Justin, Ampadu, Stach, Longstaff, Tanaka, Aaronson, Okafor, DCL, Nmecha
Don't know? Gnonto, James
Move on.
Cairns Meslier, Bornauw, Byram, Gruev, Piroe, Buonette,
Geldhardt, Crew, Harrison, Wober, Joseph, Ramazani
Think we will need.
Keeper, L Back, C Half and a utility back.
Def and Att Mid Fielder.
Striker, Creative 10 and between 1 and 3 wingers.
Based on this up to 11 players needed.
11 May 2026 17:36:40
Joseph has an ACL, so won't be able to be moved on. Didn't we rather unwisely turn down Β£10 million last summer for him.
And.
My mate, World Class Meslier, leaves on a free this summer. Au revoir, mon ami, from the sublime Sheff Utd save in 20/21 season to the ridiculous AWOL goal vs Everton in 22/23.
11 May 2026 19:43:17
I'd love to keep Ramazani, but unfortunately Farke won't play him, I suspect?
I'd also keep Gruev to back up Amps, unless a seriously good replacement arrives, as I think the attacking positions are more of a need.
It's going to be interesting what happens with Pascal?
11 May 2026 12:29:19
May I please be the first to mention Noah Lang as a target for next season?
11 May 2026 16:24:11
What about Clark Kent. π€£π€£π€£ Wouldn't be a summer window without his name being mentioned.
11 May 2026 16:44:15
Clark Kent? Aka Superman? π¦ΈββοΈ Chrissy.. Think you mean Ryan Kent.
How about Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark, too? π€
11 May 2026 17:12:04
Don't tell Adam Underwood, but Ryan Kent is currently a free agent. Maybe his time has finally come.
11 May 2026 17:24:02
Gawd forbid, JR.
Besides, no need for Ryan Kent .. we have got Okafor and Super Danny James.
11 May 2026 22:45:52
It's called humour, Baz. Of course, I know who Lois Lane loved.
12 May 2026 00:17:28
Okay dokey, Christopher.
I guess Clark Kent was a slightly more humorous choice than the Duke of Kent.
11 May 2026 08:35:52
After being knocked out from the Falsified Accounts Cup, we are able place all our remaining energies into winning our remaining three games.
For perspective, the winner of the cheaters False Accounts Cup receives Β£2.1 million for every place higher we finish in the league is worth circa Β£2.7million.
11 May 2026 10:26:28
Let's hope for an extra 8.1 then class. π
11 May 2026 13:43:16
Ha - like it, Class.
11 May 2026 16:50:16
Leeds are currently 16th ..
Win our final 3 matches, finish 9th.
Equates to Β£14.7 million extra prize money. π°
11 May 2026 19:52:17
I want a performance, not just tonight, but over the next three games. We need to finish on a high and take it into next season, not just for the money for a higher placing, but the momentum and confidence that securing mid table brings.
We're not under pressure, but Spurs are, and by the final game West Ham might be under the cosh as well. Hopefully the squad have not been sorting out their Summer holidays today.
11 May 2026 07:28:52
After watching that West Ham v Arsenal game I can have a certain amount of sympathy for them in how cruel and unjust it would seem the inconsistencies of refereeing and VAR decisions are in the Premiership.
However, the sympathy only goes so far for me as they did enjoy a relatively great success and a European trophy not so long ago with a coach in David Moyes who does undeniably have a formula, whether you like his football or not.
These situations can draw parallels with our own club in how many Leeds United fans wanted Daniel Farke booted out not only before the season started but also last November.
Stay humble and be careful what you wish for, I would say. Failure and the great decent down to the Championship is waiting there if you are not.
11 May 2026 08:23:39
That would be me as one, and I still do. Farke has not had anywhere near the success boring Moyes has had. Silly comparison. And I would def still be reviewing the situation re Farke. If there's better out there, be silly not to go for him.
Just like players are dispensable. It could be argued that we should not sell any players or buy any because the existing squad achieved their goals. But that's not progress is it.
11 May 2026 08:29:54
Great point, OP.
I definitely wanted Daniel Farke to start the season as our manager, and he thoroughly deserved that chance based on last season.
I did, however, want a change in January when we were woeful and losing every week, but then came that monumental game against Citeh, where Farke adapted and changed his approach, changed the formation, and played to the players' strengths.
Since then, we have looked every inch a very good Premier League team with minimal resources, so I applaud the board for sticking with Farke (unless it was just about money) , and applaud the team and Farke for achieving safety with 3 games to go, and playing some fantastic football along the way.
π
If we win 4-0 tonight, we go 13th! What?
Hopefully the 49βs now invest some serious money into the team to ensure my blood pressure remains in a healthy position! Europe next.
Itβs a nice feeling having such a relaxed end to the season for once!
11 May 2026 09:15:01
It's only silly for you, Aus, because you have always been so vehemently opposed to Farke. Even though he has won us promotion and kept us in the Premiership in our first season up.
Facts, mate, it's staring right at you. Why risk something that ain't broke, for the insecurity and the possible failure of another coach?
I can understand wanting to change your coach when there's perhaps an undeniable breakdown and failure in what he is trying to achieve.
There is a comparison, but you simply don't want to see it, Aus, but that is fine, before someone starts to accuse me of wanting to change another poster's opinion.
Well, we can always enjoy another season in the Premiership with Farke, but perhaps not everyone.
11 May 2026 09:28:54
Let's keep the whole team then, Opti, cause they've done such a good job keeping us in Prem. Doesn't make any sense. Farke has weaknesses, even though he improved on his first half season failure.
He has done his job, so have the team. I don't think he will be replaced. I'm just saying if better credential manager comes available in our price zone. It should be considered. To think otherwise is blinkered.
11 May 2026 11:33:56
Players seem to like Farke, and are playing for him. There is absolutely no guarantee, if we changed the manager, that things would massively improve. Long-term improvement in a club relies on lots of factors: players' respect for the manager, and, like it or not, money generated is the biggest.
I don't think even Pep would improve our team without the funding. Farke, in my opinion, has proved his worth to Leeds Utd FC.
Remember the so-called great Clough, excellent manager, worked out well at Leeds.
11 May 2026 12:42:41
Agree with first paragraph, Mez. Best the devil you know, right. Let's just stick on 15. Bound to get a seven if we twist.
11 May 2026 13:33:24
I wouldn't keep banging your heads against this particular wall, lads. Aus is about as moveable as Uluru on this one. π
11 May 2026 15:29:08
Q. Should we sack Farke - seriously!
A. No, not right now.
If a manager with better credentials comes available in our price zone, should he be considered? If we are not in a situation where we are considering a managerial change, then the answer is clearly still no. If circumstances change, then so could the answer, but, of course, the desirable alternative may not then be available, but that's life, I'm afraid.
In any case, the coveted alternative may turn out to not be as good as hoped, frying pans and fires come to mind - think Slot 2026 versus Slot 2025.
11 May 2026 16:00:13
I think what Aus is saying is a very good question. The only problem is, who is out there? Nothing wrong with asking that question. Unfortunately, on here too many just can't wait to jump down your throat.
How you ever stay in any meaningful relationship must be hard. It's all my way, my view, my opinion, even those that leave saying they have changed. What. π©
11 May 2026 16:06:01
Vid, not trying to change his mindset on Farke, just trying to understand Aus's reasoning on the subject, so far, I'm not hearing a good enough response to remotely convince me that it would make sense to sack Farke for a coach with perhaps a marginally better track record than him.
Let's be honest, an elite coach is not going to come to Leeds United.
Personally I would only want to see the back of Farke if his tactics aren't working anymore, and he can't or won't change them, or he cannot coach his players effectively anymore to improve themselves.
In my mind, that would be reasonable rather than knobbing him off only on the basis that another coach might have a slightly better cv.
Comparing improving on your coach is not the same as buying better players, not if the coach is already getting the best out of his players and achieving his employer's objectives.
11 May 2026 16:22:56
Whiteman, I don't appreciate that you are trying your very best to convince others on this forum that I am doing my very best to change other posters' opinions.
If you take the time to read my posts, which you clearly don't, you will find I'm only making discussion with other posters' opinions.
Or, is that not a good enough reason for you that I post on here?
By the way, I have a very good relationship with my wife and family. Thank you for taking your considerations into my private life.
11 May 2026 16:52:42
My way.. one of the best songs ever, Whitey
Good post.
11 May 2026 17:08:17
Agree Baz, great song. Used to put it on the pub jukebox when we were playing doms team games. Rarely lost a game of 5s and 3s when Frank was singing.
11 May 2026 17:27:52
Lurve it, JR!
Yep, 'My Way'.. one of my absolute faves. I used to sing it with my Japanese colleagues at Karaoke bars when I was living and working in Tokyo.
Happy days!
11 May 2026 17:51:03
Aus?
At the start of the season, plenty were waxing lyrical about how we missed out on some great managers and how we shouldn't miss out on an upgrade, e.g. Potter, Nuno, Postecoglou, Edwards, Howe, Frank. Goodness me, some were calling for Dyche in November!
Well, as time has passed, despite those managers having access to far more funds and arguably already having far better players, have they really achieved more than Daniel Farke?
Would any of those potential managers have assured us of EPL survival?
DF deserves his chance to move us on, which he has done each and every year he has been with us.
I asked you the question earlier this month before we were going to be flogged by Man U: who would replace Farke and guarantee us something better, who isn't completely fanciful or utterly unavailable? Perhaps you might answer this time?
11 May 2026 18:33:28
I think that's where the conversation runs dry for a response ani4, in trying to make some debate on the Farke topic, posters like Whiteman just clam up and deliver personal insults.
Just confirms to me they don't have any credible reasoning to further the debate.
No point in continuing.
Scroll on.
11 May 2026 19:43:19
ani4ni, I believe the point was a debate on whether we should look at changing the management, and whether he has taken us as far as he can, which is a fair question. Anyway, it will be up to the powers above. For me, I think he should stay.
Who could replace him? Not sure, but no manager can guarantee anything, as proven by clubs who have changed managers only to come up against player power and lose their jobs. We don't want in / out in / out, like some on here. Move on. π€·π»ββοΈ
11 May 2026 23:19:06
Excellent posts, lads.
I've always said if a better manager becomes available, then we should move on. That was earlier in the season when Farke was effing things up.
Now, he has improved many things, yet still has a few failures.
Sitting back in the second half when ahead is the biggest.
As for big-name managers, we can't get them. Look at Areola. He wasn't exactly a big-name coach, but has shown what he can do with limited resources and selling his best players.
However, I will admit Farke has done a helluva job in the second half of the season.
11 May 2026 01:08:22
Congratulations to LUFC, a fantastic season and fully deserved to stay up, lots of great memories and performances, a few dropped points which hurt us at times, but overall amazing.
On to the last 3 games, hopefully keep up the momentum and finish strong and then hope they improve and invest in the team, Leeds needs to be a premiership club but will take investment in summer and some cuts
Any ideas on potential pot (without sales) , we think 100-120mil.
11 May 2026 07:07:36
If the 9ers stick to what was planned, then it will be around Β£80m before any sales.
11 May 2026 08:01:53
If that is the case, Alf, then Melbourne's top end figure of around Β£120m probably isn't going to be too far off the mark.
That would be a useful sum with which to bring in 3/4 upgrades on what we currently have.
11 May 2026 08:25:02
3/4 quality upgrades and prob couple fillers, Clegs. If we astute this time, and have proper list in place. π
11 May 2026 15:33:59
Β£80M before any sales outturning to Β£120M seems somewhat optimistic to me. Where are the Β£40M sales coming from? Β£90-100M would be a more realistic estimate for me.
11 May 2026 00:24:40
Yippeee ki yah mothers.
It was a long time coming but better than last day shenanigans.
Hope the boys go full throttle now although to be honest not stressed anymore as we are safe.
Proper spend on quality in the right positions in break and have a less stressful mid table finish next season. 13-8 ish.
Be so nice to watch last three games without any nerves.
10 May 2026 22:53:06
Now that we're officially in the EPL next season I thought it would be an appropriate time to acknowledge our achievements this season and vote our thanks to those who delivered.
First the owners and the board who cut it a bit fine for us fans but got it right.
Second the recruitment team who tried our patience but got the job done within our constrained budget.
Third the coaching team ( and it is a team rather than just the wonderful Mr Farke)
Fourth the medical team for nursing our signings back to fitness. Most of them were described on here as " sick notes" but with the right care they came good.
Fifth the squad, good enough for the EPL or not, who all contributed
Sixth our fans who moved the needle on more than one occcasion
And last there's DF who withstood all the doubters and got it done with some spectacular results, take a bow!
OK so that's this season. Now we need to build. We can improve our coaching team under DF ( better at set pieces etc) and we can certainly start to upgrade our squad. We've had some luck this season that may not repeat so we need to be a stronger team next season.
The comments on here have been great for the most part although some of the depressives could lighten up.
Here's to becoming an established EPL team and taking the stress out of our season. Mid table a reasonable target next season. Have a great summer everyone.
10 May 2026 23:36:50
We are more or less mid table this season? A point here or there.
10 May 2026 23:56:07
Good post, Sixpence, but I thought we were more often than not unlucky with our results this season.
11 May 2026 02:25:21
OP, I've been watching LUFC for longer than I care to think about, and we've certainly had more than our fair share of rotten luck down the years, but to a good extent teams make their own luck. One of our biggest weaknesses this year has been our poor shot conversion rate. Brentford, for example, have scored 52 goals from 528 shots at goal, whereas we've only got 47 goals from 622 shots.
If we'd converted just a few more chances into goals, how many losses or draws might have become draws or wins. We all see shots hit the woodwork and say it's unlucky, but it's not bad luck, it's bad shooting. If we can improve that one metric next season, we'll likely be in the top half of the table.
11 May 2026 06:59:22
It depends which way you want to look at it, JR. Yes, we can always improve our goal conversion ratio, but for me, since we conceded so many late goals in the dying minutes of quite a number of our games, due to weak defending, own goals and dodgy referee decisions, you could see our weaknesses and luck unfolding at the other end of the pitch.
At the end of the day, it's very clear to see that, as a newly promoted team, it's going to take, in my estimation, several seasons to strengthen our squad to have that quality to cement our future in the Premiership.
The first and most difficult season has been achieved successfully, but I wouldn't be getting too far ahead of ourselves just yet. There are more struggles and challenges still to come in this beast of a league.
11 May 2026 07:11:26
If we can convert more chances plus cut out conceding late goals, we would probably be challenging for Europe. More creativity, a more clinical striker, and improved defenders are clearly needed in my book.
11 May 2026 07:18:46
Good idea, Alf. Combine solving the issues at both ends. π
Top, top post, by the way, 6p.
11 May 2026 16:56:08
Is the current EPL really a "beast of a league"?
Quality of teams this season is wayyy down from previous seasons imo.
11 May 2026 18:03:22
I tend to agree, Baz. It's much lower quality than "normal".
I would argue the league is much closer this season at both ends of the table, even the top two are "poor" relatively v other seasons. The "big 6" have been dire, e.g. Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea.God forbid Tottenham!
It is hard to fathom that the defending champions have lost one game less than us and will likely have 20+ points less than last year.
I think this has been a "competitive" league rather than an outstanding league.
Has there really been any outstanding teams this year, even a really outstanding player?
Arsenal have been the most consistent, but have they played really great football?
11 May 2026 19:06:40
Good points, Ani. Fully agree.
11 May 2026 19:49:14
It is a very competitive league, but PSR has probably had an impact on teams like Citeh and Chelsea, to rein in their overspending, plus teams like Villa and Newcastle with their vastly wealthy owners.
The quality of the Premiership collectively is still far superior to other European leagues.
Although the Premiership has suffered somewhat, there is still no argument, in my opinion, that it has the best quality and competitiveness of any football league.
10 May 2026 20:19:50
Great to have confirmation that we will be in the Prem again next season, Now let's go and win our last 3 and finish with a BANG! MOT.
10 May 2026 21:09:50
It's a beautiful dayyy lads.
8th place in EPL, here we come lads!
52 points total possible with 3 wins from remaining 3 games.. pressure is off, so why not now?
Thrash Spuds.
Beat Euro pretenders Brighton.
And put a spanner π§ in the spammers.
If we achieve 8th to 12th I'll give Farkey a great big Baz Bearhug!
Promise.
10 May 2026 21:13:18
Was thinking the exact same thing even before today. Let's get 9 points and potentially 9th place!
10 May 2026 21:59:24
Oooooh, so you believe in us now Baz, lol. Good on yer son. π
