So here we go peeps into a run of 2 games that are proposed to be season defining. Hmmmmmm, not sure about that, quite honestly I am more troubled by playing lesser teams fighting for everything, such as away to QPR etc. Taking a leaf from Bas, I predict, Leeds 4 Sunderland 0, Sheff Utd 1 Leeds 2 and then the bun fight starts, its going to be a scrap to the line after against teams that are desperate, but of course I could be wrong lol.

Agree6 Disagree0

Good post vid.

The next two games are 6 points, the next 10+ games are 30+ points. Let's not get lost in the weeds.

We beat sheff utd and drew by mistake to Sunderland, when our team was fresh and new. There's no reason why we can't carve them both open.

I think you are both underestimating a tad the psychological confidence impact of losing both or winning both for that matter

Win both 6 pointers we finish Champions imo

Lose both 0 points chances of finising in top 2 drop to 50/ 50

AiMO.

Well Baz undoubtedly it is a factor, but we beat Leicester and Ipswich twice last season and it didn't turbo boost us to the title. The International break, the Welsh lads losing their playoff, injuries, under performance of our 3 musketeers and inexperience all played a part. This team has only lost thrice and each time has responded brilliantly. What would be the physiological effect of drawing both, or winning one and losing another. Not sure it matters to a massive degree for our boys and its a tad disrespectful to suggest it would.

Very well put Vid, good post.

if a team has two matches then one win one loss is three points, two draws is two points, you would think that most teams would opt for the former, but given the situation and the teams we are playing the next two games, two points is not a disaster, but yes ideally i would love 6 pts but realistically i think we will get 4pts.

Very good post vid. I hope we can at least beat Sunderland tomorrow night, but the main thing is we don’t lose either game. I will take a draw away to the blades, but I agree with Baz, if we win both games we will be champions.
I didn’t see their game against Luton yesterday, but going by the first half stats Luton were all over them. Something like 9 attempts at goal to their 0 attempts, and 4 corners to their 0 corners, but yet never scored. I watched them away at Swansea a couple of weeks ago, and Swansea could and should have been 3-0 up at halftime. Completely dominated the first half, but again didn’t manage to convert their first half chances. Hull took their chances well at bramall lane and I’m sure the blades can’t keep riding their luck, some other teams will do a Hull city.

Very interesting post revie. I hadn’t thought of that.

Exellent post C&J

yes imo, likewise, two SUCCESSIVE 6 pointer wins vs Sunderland and Sheff Utd would be a LUFC Championes turbo boost catalyst aimo

And

Davey Vid those wins against Ipswich and Leicester last season were NOT successive with less than a 1/ 3 of seàson remaining

BUT even more pertinently Davey Vid BOTH Leicester ( 97 points) and Ipswich ( 96 points) were far better than any of Sheff U, Burnley and Sunderland and in accumulating enough points for top 2 berths in a far better quality Champo last season . so not really a good comparison from you!

And if we were to pick up 2, 3 or 4 points instead imo LUFC then remain faves for Championes spot but with all still to play for.

Whereas two successive defeats to both Sunderland and Sheff Utd would be an absolute disaster for LUFC team confidence and nerves.

Realistically, Sunderland have to come out to beat us, which should play into our hands, and to our strengths. The outcome tomorrow will likely govern how both we, and the blunts, set up for our match. Personally feel that it’s 4 points, but 6 is certainly not beyond possibility.

16 Feb 2025 14:23:52
Well Baz, my point was that these two games are no more important than the last 12, you can only beat what's in front of you each game. By the same token if you believe winning our next 2 games because of the physcological advantage will guarantee our champions status, then surely beating far superior Leicester and Ipswich last season would have given us the physcological advantage to have prevailed then. The problem is there are so many variables that can affect results that predictions cannot rely on a single element.

16 Feb 2025 17:50:32
As Baz likes to tell us before every game, this next game is a MUST win! Every game has its challenges and none easy! I’m not sure why any enthusiastic supporter would be considering losing both of the next two games in a weak standard championship!
I’m getting Dad’s army vibes!
We’re doomed Mr Mainwaring…we’re doomed! ?.

16 Feb 2025 18:15:33
Err DDSW . not sure of your surprise re potentially losing

As our next 2 matches are biggies versus

Sheff Utd who are top

and 4th place Sunderland who Leeds haven't beaten for like 9 years

Yet I am still predicting we beat Sunderland ( even more so if we had a competent gk)

16 Feb 2025 21:08:54
Past results count for nothing!
I’m also predicting a home win and backing all 11 players on the pitch!
Hoping for a Mes masterclass if only to maybe shut your depressing remarks up!

16 Feb 2025 21:53:55
Not sure a " Mes masterclass " were words on your lips DDSW at the end of the preceding Sunderland vs Leeds game or Hull vs Leeds game for that matter.

17 Feb 2025 06:26:01
No massively disappointed at the time!
Doesn’t mean I have to continually bash him for a mistake! Time to be a supporter and support him!

17 Feb 2025 07:03:42
'A mistake'? . if only DDSW

Aim higher fella.

17 Feb 2025 10:38:16
Yes a mistake/ freak incident in the Sunderland game!
It’s a pity you don’t aim higher than most of your low blows on here!

17 Feb 2025 12:35:39
If if were just one mistake or even less than double digits over the paat 5 years then okish

but

' deep down ' you know its been far more than that . and we have lost a lot of points from it.
