Think we spent our Jan striker money on Trafford cause we didn’t tie Darlow down and had to divert funds instead of tieing Darlow down, shifting Perri and Mez and getting Zebedee.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Aug 2026 08:30:40
HiHarder is on his way to Strasbourg on loan with option to buy. Our striker options are getting narrower, if not non-existent.

30 Aug 2026 09:05:26
Talk of Mane from Wolves, but stats not great, and only a 7.2 ranking last season, which was about 7th best in Wolves. Hardly inspiring.

30 Aug 2026 09:11:00
Have to agree to disagree on this one, Aus.

I think we have one of the top three keepers in the EPL in Jimmy. I also believe people think Karl is much better than he actually was. Take both our recent games at Florists; I don’t see Karl making the saves that Jimmy made, and if Karl is that good, why is he a number 2 and unlikely to play this season.

Think Jimmy will be our player of the season and will end up looking a bargain come the end of the season considering Delap going for £50milliom.

I get DCL could be injured, but not to sign Jimmy when available is a greater crime for me, plus all the top top strikers aren’t guaranteed to score and will they want to come to Leeds anyway.

Sunderland finished six places above us last season, scoring 7 goals less than us but conceding 8 goals less than us, and for me that was the difference between our relative keepers, with Roeffs being an excellent signing.

Love a striker of course, but let’s see what happens yet.

30 Aug 2026 09:18:23
Yes, Aus..

Looks that way, re failing to tie down Darlow, which was regrettable.

And then spending an inordinate amount of £45 million of our budget on a gk, likely impacting our ability to sign players in other key positions.

A few peeps are besides themselves at this window.. it's not as good as that.. Aimo.

30 Aug 2026 09:20:37
Totally agree, Class.
I'd love a striker, but we look great at the back.
Be great to see how we go today.

30 Aug 2026 09:30:11
Yes, Roefs was indeed excellent for Sunderland.. and he cost just £9 million (not £45 million we spent on a keeper) .

30 Aug 2026 09:37:59
The history of DCL on these forums.

"We shouldn't have bought him, he's a sick note and is never fit." "We need a new striker!"

Then, when it transpires he is fit, and not missing games, it becomes

"His stats are terrible and misses loads; he's an expensive Bamford." "We need a new striker!"

Then, when he starts to score, it becomes.

"yea, but will he remain fit," despite remaining fit. "We need a new striker!"

30 Aug 2026 09:44:06
DCL was great last seez, Ani. Better than expected, and many peeps player of seez, including mine.

Point is, Leeds could really do with another additional striker also. Could we not, Ani?

30 Aug 2026 09:50:25
Agree class re Trafford. He is brilliant and could be our player of the season. Just saying that's where I think striker dosh has gone. 👍

30 Aug 2026 09:50:29
That's a great post, Class! Trafford for me, the most important signing we have made in this very good transfer window! I was never totally convinced by Darlow, and although he did well enough last season, Jimmy is definitely a major upgrade! We have lots of players capable of scoring! No incoming striker will guarantee goals either. I'm excited by my team!

30 Aug 2026 10:44:38
Couldn't agree more, Class.
One step at a time.
One step at a time.

30 Aug 2026 11:15:35
In a perfect world, Baz, having another striker would be good. At the same time, not getting one won't be the end of the world.

We were "middling" last season in regards to goals, but nowhere near that on goals conceded. I think the priority this season was to strengthen the defence, and they've done that.. And, yes, we must do one on Arsenal this season.

30 Aug 2026 13:47:52
I do agree, it's not life or death not signing a striker, but it's going to be harder without one than with one.

30 Aug 2026 00:38:01
Watching MOTD, Spurs beaten again after spending crazy money.
Solanke got about 12 mins. Could we put a bid in for him as sure not happy, his market value is around 25mil.
Buy him, buy Mane from Wolves around 20 mil and try loan Ethan Nwareri, window done. 😇
Easy this window shopping.

30 Aug 2026 09:51:58
Saw the Liverpool game. They leave themselves wide open for counter-attacks. They will get bounced quite a bit this season. Isaac was dire, and they take gak off. I thought he was their best player lol. Happy days.

30 Aug 2026 10:03:27
Gakpo in Man City's sights although Spurs would like him as well as they've not spent enough to sufficiently improve the squad. 😮

30 Aug 2026 10:05:40
Don't think Solanke is pushing for a move, but Richarlison is. Good on his day, and a bit of a nasty piece, but doesn't do it often enough.

29 Aug 2026 21:51:55
Hull agree deal for Bahoya, that's another one off the potential left wingers then.
I’m fascinated as to who this big names big deal unnamed left winger we have potentially lined up is.
Who can it be really?

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Aug 2026 23:08:41
Great credit to Hull and Ipswich, both are giving it a right go in the transfer market.

And, so far, on the pitch, both are off to that all important strong start. 100% win record.

30 Aug 2026 08:39:26
Dave, someone not well known and cost the earth.

30 Aug 2026 08:51:09
Hopefully, Ipswich continue their amazing 100% winning run of ummm.. one game today!

30 Aug 2026 09:23:25
Hopefully they do Ddsw in beating Man U.

..The crux of the point, as you well know, was that both Hull and Ipswich have both gone for it in the window, signing a multitude of effective players in many positions. Ipswich in particular.

Not just Ddsw, your favourite most important position of gk, to the detriment of other positions.

30 Aug 2026 10:12:48
Just like Leeds have, Baz.
Signing effective players in important positions without major disruption to the team/squad!

29 Aug 2026 20:10:49
RB Leipzig have signed Marc Giui from Chelsea.
Does that mean Harder might happen?

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Aug 2026 21:11:40
I'd assume it makes it more likely he could leave, but he could be moving anywhere. Sevilla and Lazio have been mentioned. As always, time will tell.

29 Aug 2026 23:11:15
72 hours remaining of 3 months of summer transfer speculation.

Can Leeds United fans be very pleasantly surprised please with a very late striker signing. 🙏

30 Aug 2026 08:27:43
Harder on his way to Strasbourg on loan, with option to buy. Promised game time.

29 Aug 2026 20:06:03
The only rumour I am not too keen on is - Mudryk.
He promised so much when going to Chelsea but in most games I have seen him in he has lamentably failed to impress. I have even seen a video of Gary Neville with the comment that the only are he excels in is speed in a straight line.

However he dissapoints in his ability to beat a man and then to cross accurately.
A bit of a basic requirement for a Winger don't you think?
Still I would have to trust in the scouts and prayer, if he does arrive.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2026 08:41:38
Ieodis, if it's a deal, then we will pay way over the top for Mud.

29 Aug 2026 20:00:03
Including a keeper, five signings imo still needed.
LB, CB, LW and a striker. Probably in reverse order in importance.
The eternal optimist in me says we’ll get them all apart from CB.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Aug 2026 22:36:51
With Zetterer signed, I'd take two as a minimum.
A defender and a striker.
Would be over the moon if we added a winger to that as well.

30 Aug 2026 08:44:17
TPFKAC. No way will we get five more in. We will be very lucky to get one.

29 Aug 2026 19:28:21
Spurs predictably going down that swirling plug hole.
Frankie now finding out he's probably not that good as a manager as he thought he was.

Agree4 Disagree0

29 Aug 2026 20:14:50
I will put my mortgage on you being wrong here, OP.

29 Aug 2026 20:53:44
Wrong on which point, Chris? Although he's probably wrong on both. Lampard is no mug and Tottenham will do way better than last season.

29 Aug 2026 21:12:55
Lampard still has a lot to do to convince me he is decent.

30 Aug 2026 01:27:52
Spuds probably won't be in a relegation dogfight this season, but Fat Frank's boys quite likely will.

30 Aug 2026 08:45:46
I agree with you, Chris. They will not drop down, and will be in the top 8.

29 Aug 2026 19:23:33
Oh dear, and Spuds just prove again that chucking money at the problem does not work, it's a lot more intricate than that.

Agree4 Disagree0

29 Aug 2026 20:10:00
Mate, it's 2 games. So I guess you fancy Hull for the title or a Champions League spot.

29 Aug 2026 20:13:42
Exactly, a bit silly to say I told you so after a pair of games.

29 Aug 2026 20:31:57
Well, Dave, don't quite get how Hull come into the equation, and Chris, I have never posted about Spuds being relegation fodder, so don't see how I could say told you so. Just saying big signings don't guarantee anything.

29 Aug 2026 20:41:10
Here goes, I told you so. 😉

29 Aug 2026 20:57:14
Chucking money doesn't work? Well, it's sure better than not having a pot to piss in! Just ask most chairmen which option they would prefer.

29 Aug 2026 21:24:36
Corkey, there is a massive difference between chucking money like Man U, Chelsea and Spurs and spending big wisely like Citeh and Arsenal. I doubt any prem club don't have a pot to piss in.

29 Aug 2026 22:02:01
Cmon Vid, mate. You said chucking money, not chucking money sensibly, if there is such a thing.
If a club does well after spending an exorbitant amount of cash, that club's transfer policy will be crowned as successful.
As for you saying it's a lot more intricate, well, I'm confused by that statement.

29 Aug 2026 22:47:59
I mean "I told you so" in the context of weighing in on Spuds because they've lost 2 games.

It's madness to contemplate they will go down.
They won't, I know you haven't said it literally.

OP, relax pal, don't be getting worked up now about what any of us do or don't say.

There's no prizes or financial rewards given out on this site, it's just something to read.

Tomorrow's proverbial "chip paper".

29 Aug 2026 23:05:33
Not expecting any prizes, Chris, just saying what I think. Spurs finishing 17th in the last two seasons even with their new expensive players, I think De Zerbi will be sacked and their season will spiral out of control.
It's just my thoughts, pal, you and others may believe differently.
That's fine.

29 Aug 2026 23:16:26
Spuds season is a tad difficult to call. They are off to a bad start; it could go badly wrong. More likely, though, 9th or 10th finish.

30 Aug 2026 09:12:43
Oh, they'll probably survive again by the skin of their teeth in 17th or 16th position.
Money can't fix their problems, and splashing out on expensive players when their club culture from top to bottom is all wrong, they are destined to struggle in my opinion.
That culture includes the fans, or perhaps especially their fans; they're always calling themselves out in negative ways, like, it's a Spursy way!
For me, that just invites negativity into your club, and it's very hard to get rid of.

A lot of well credited managers have been at Tottenham Hotspur in recent years, and all of them have failed. Why would De Zerbi and 300Mil suddenly change that.
Money won't fix their problems.

30 Aug 2026 09:40:23
Not quite sure OP why you are seemingly so fixated on your Spuds agenda ..

But, under Big Ange just 3 seasons ago Spuds came 5th. A very good EPL season for them. Plus, a season later they won the UEFA Europa Cup. Hmmm.

30 Aug 2026 10:50:45
Why are you so fixated on Ipswich?

With the size of their stadium and their infrastructure, that is only a failure.
Hmmm.

29 Aug 2026 13:38:32
Based on where we are currently in establishing ourselves into this division, I would rather target players from the relegated teams: Fleming, Burnley and Hugo Bueno and Mane from Wolves.

Think you’re getting proven quality at sensible prices although sadly we may not have funds for all three.

It’s always exciting to buy an unknown rough diamond but for this season this would be my personal preference.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Aug 2026 14:30:01
I'd take one right now, class.

29 Aug 2026 14:46:11
It may be that we still need to sell players before buying? Ie, Joseph and Gruev, for example.
I'm questioning whether the club can spend 30/40 Mil right now.
Who actually knows? We can only guess.

29 Aug 2026 15:27:46
Zero chance we sell Joseph. He's not recovering from his ACL fully for a few months yet. I believe Gruev has a short-term injury too. It seems that Farke doesn't love traditional wingers; he prefers a wide playmaker and allows the wing-backs to provide the width. I feel like that's why he's completely ostracised Ramazani, and clearly doesn't trust Gnonto.

The only traditional winger he seems to trust fully is James, unless you count Okafor as a traditional winger. I think Farke prefers one winger and one wide playmaker for each flank, basically, rather than two wingers.

29 Aug 2026 16:52:23
Prefer a rough diamond 💎 to no one at all.

And, tell yer what, class looks like. Hull about to be on 6 points after 2 games. What's going on?

29 Aug 2026 17:03:18
Hull haven't played anyone decent yet, Baz. 😆

29 Aug 2026 17:09:43
Lol Canada, 🇨🇦. Well, you defo correct about their opponents last week. 👏

29 Aug 2026 19:59:16
With five at the back, it's three midfielders plus two attackers (Okafor/DCL) , or two midfielders plus three attackers (Wilson/Aaronson/DCL) . The former, which worked so well last year, is clearly stronger, but needs Okafor available. He spent most of his career as a successful striker before Milan converted him to a winger, and now effectively plays as a second striker drifting left, freeing the right for the extreme pace of Rodon, James, etc.

The second formation is a switch up that works because Aaronson helps a 2 man mf.
