There's been a lot of online stuff re Tyler Dibling. He's now training away from the main squad. Everton are definitely keen having made three bids but there is some difference in valuations. Everton have offered over £40m but it falls short of the total package of a minimum £50m that the Saints want.
None of the big clubs are in at the moment, and I don't think they will be. This is a player with potential but last season managed only 2 goals and no assists in 33 Premier League matches.
Is this what you get for £40/ 50m? It's bonkers.

Dunelm

{Ed025's Note - its mad Dunelm, Everton should offer £30m max or walk away, yes the kids got potential but we have all seen that before and there is no guarantee that he will come to fruition mate, the world has gone mad where transfers are concerned..

The prices of players is crazy and also the amount of money pool, mancs, gunners, city and Chelsea are spending. Ridiculous. I read the diff between winning league and relegation is 60mill in prize money. That’s a free player for the rich teams.
While on the subject. Relegated teams get 100 mill. So are release clauses necessary? Surely a release clause should be if the club fail to bounce back in first season. The 100mill will cover wages.

Paixao off to Marseille according to Fab Romano.

Dunelm

1.) 28 Jul 2025 18:20:25
Yes it’s a done deal apparently he flies out to complete medical by tonight, really poor but as I’ve already stated in other posts, it was going to be because he kept saying he wanted to go to Marseille. So yet again player power and agent power win.

2.) 28 Jul 2025 22:57:22
Stuff Paixao I say! (I'm here all week)

3.) 29 Jul 2025 07:29:16
Do ya do weddings and christenings too Goodwin?

4.) 29 Jul 2025 10:24:54
More fittingly funerals?

28 Jul 2025 17:53:14
Isaac Schmidt on his way to Werder Bremen on loan when we find a replacement.
Girona interested in MJ but can't meet the price-or don't want to. Both them and Betis prefer a loan.
There are exceptions across Europe such as Barca, Madrid, Bayern, etc who can shell out big transfer fees but once you get down to the middle order teams they've no cash and work on cheap buys, improve them, sell them on.
Can you imagine anyone in Europe who's promoted to the top tier spending what us and Sunderland are currently doing?

Dunelm

1.) 29 Jul 2025 11:04:06
Barca can't splash big transfers any more. They wanted Nico Williams but couldn't afford him and had to settle for Marcus Rashford on loan. They are still over £1 Billion in debt.

2.) 29 Jul 2025 11:56:55
Yep JR. It's scandalous how they continue to get away with it!

3.) 01 Aug 2025 13:58:04
But it’s the same with all big clubs they always get away with it, and until a governing body put a stop to that it will keep happening, but we must put a stop to these bigger teams and players ruling football along with the referees, maring the game all the time but really just spoiling it, and not elevating the game as it should.

21 Jul 2025 22:04:06
I thought Paixo was gone and we'd moved on but the sale to OM is dragging on and rumours that they're haggling over the price. OM aren't prepared to meet the asking price whatever that is.

Dunelm

1.) 22 Jul 2025 02:56:54
24 v 30 mill I read. We should go in with 26 ish.

2.) 22 Jul 2025 06:54:40
The word is that we are still pushing on this one. I wouldn't be surprised if we got him in the bag. OM likely to walk away as I posted at the weekend. We aren't the only ones in the market haggling over price! Only Sunderland and Man U dropping their pants!

3.) 22 Jul 2025 07:41:54
I’ve got a sneaky we will get him.

01 Feb 2025 14:05:10
Archer not even in Southampton squad v Ipswich. Is he off somewhere?

Dunelm

1.) 01 Feb 2025 19:53:49
If he's coming here he will have to try hard to dethrone Piroe and Joseph.

2.) 02 Feb 2025 09:09:59
Agree Mo. Piroe was excellent. Involved, clinical and didn't drift out of the game as he sometimes does. Good to see Joseph get on the score sheet. It should boost his confidence and remind him to keep making those runs in to the box. We have the wingers to provide the service and chip in with goals as well.
Scoring isn't usually the issue but I think we always look a better team when we've two dynamic full backs on the pitch. Bogle and especially Junior looked dangerous and link well with the front line.
Lot of rumours about a signing or two before the deadline but if I had a choice I'd buy a full back who can defend but also has the energy and pace to attack. The FB's put in a shift and although Byram and Wober are sound they don't have that threat going forward.

El Khannous not playing tonight so likely that he might be off somewhere. Whether its ER I've no idea.

Dunelm

1.) 30 Aug 2025 07:32:31
I’m sure they will try but ultimately run out of time and fail.

2.) 30 Aug 2025 08:09:34
They will be tracking and monitoring.

27 Aug 2025 15:53:48
Talking to a Burnley supporter earlier this week he said they were well beaten by Spurs but after playing Sunderland there is more optimism and after they went 1-0 Sunderland Gave up. After all that hype about them.

Dunelm

1.) 27 Aug 2025 16:44:26
Sorry. Pressed send by mistake.
We didn't have a good start last year and November wasn't any better. But it got sorted.
There are some poor teams in this division (and some good ones) and although we should be ashamed of some aspects of the Arsenal and Wednesday performances I'm not giving up hope just yet. By end of September/ early October we'll know if we have any sort of chance in this League. No point getting the jitters just yet.

2.) 27 Aug 2025 19:24:38
Agreed Dunelm. Saturday was a bit of z horror show really and best drawn a veil over. Last night no worse really than the 3-0 bashing we got from Boro at ER last season, but then Leeds an cups do not gel. Give it a few games and let things settle. Doubtless ER will be full of hopeful and expectant fans on Saturday, perish the very thought, but we might even win!

26 Aug 2025 16:29:33
El Khannous transfer to Palace collapsed. They've sold us JJ and McAtee gone to Ipswich so not under any financial pressure at the moment.
Palace offered £32m in a structured deal but Leicester want £35m up front. Palace looking elsewhere.
Don't think he's for us, especially at that price. I'd rather have Buananotta or Buendia.

Dunelm

1.) 26 Aug 2025 18:13:47
Unfortunately Adam underwood has neither the negotiating skills or football contacts to complete any of these
Parag has been tought some serious contract closing lessons by most premier league clubs
I’d be surprised if we get a marquee and Solomon will have to do
Hang your head in shame mr underwood and do the decent thing and resign.

2.) 26 Aug 2025 19:43:44
LLF, how do you know Underwood has no negotiating skills or contacts? Is it because he and Paraag refuse to pay £50m for Muniz, or £35 for Bilal, or pay the ridiculous amount of money Sunderland have been paying?
I think he has shown to be very capable of getting decent players (Longstaff, Stach, Bijol et) all at great prices.
Not sure why you despise the hierarchy at Leeds so much, but it seems completely unfounded.

3.) 26 Aug 2025 20:11:43
Baz in disguise MG mate!

4.) 26 Aug 2025 20:35:23
Agree MG. Underwood is the current blame dog.

5.) 26 Aug 2025 21:00:33
As yet none of those players you mention are either excellent nor good value
Stach has the makings of a decent signing
Longstaff I’m not so sure.

6.) 26 Aug 2025 21:02:32
Nah, don't think so. Baz occasionally said something sensible!

7.) 26 Aug 2025 22:24:31
Baz is back!

18 Aug 2025 22:06:51
Good in the first half and ground out the second. Defensively not under a lot of pressure but lacked a cutting edge up front.
A keeper who can catch but needs to improve his distribution from feet. Great that Bogle was back and lasted the match.
Thought the midfield were good, especially AO. Not physical enough for the Premier League? He's a toughie is Tanaka.
Thought Willie was good in first half but still think we need more up front in addition to DCL. Another striker, a number 10/ winger and another FB.

Dunelm

1.) 18 Aug 2025 22:12:04
Good analysis Dunelm.
Excellent three points against a very negative Everton side.
Keeper proper dodgy with his feet this evening but look solid in every other aspect.

2.) 18 Aug 2025 22:18:56
It's going to be a tough season. One we will grow into.
Great result and 3 precious points in the bag, was always going to be a tough game. Our chairman again said tonight we still after more new players before the transfer window closes. Our home form going to be important and great team spirit tonight.
Let's enjoy this evening.

3.) 18 Aug 2025 22:25:18
AO and Ampy bossed them in the first half. But like last year we couldn't make it count. Last year we won many games in the last 20 minutes as the other teams ran out of steam, that won't happen this year as the PL has a different caliber of players. But 3 points in the bag . MOT.

4.) 18 Aug 2025 23:02:16
Stach was excellent as well.

5.) 18 Aug 2025 23:17:46
To be fair, Everton didn’t have any steam. I feared a mugging, but Everton were very cautious, especially given how Moyes had them playing the back end of the last season.

I think Leeds played ok. I thought the ref kept a slow game moving and there wasn’t a lot free kicks, which I suspect won’t be the case next week. Arsenal will win a lot of set plays.

{Ed025's Note - both teams were crap Ani, Leeds a bit less so than Everton, but both relegation fodder mate after that..

11 Aug 2025 18:43:49
Sunderland made their 11th signing today to bring their expenditure including add ons to about £150m. I think that might be that for them unless they've some loans pending. They appear to have got who they want and not wasted time on unrealistic targets. They might have overpaid and maybe bought badly but they've got them in place before the season starts. We should be trying to do the same.

Dunelm

1.) 11 Aug 2025 20:12:52
Hopefully we are not trying to overpay or buy badly!

Our business has been good so far IMO; we have 3 weeks to go in this window.

In general our recruiting over the last 18 months has been high quality; hasten to say, we have had no duds, unlike the under the previous recruitment regime.

Ipswich spent £150M on 17 players last season, so spending lots on lots of players doesn't mean anything.

We will all see in good time who's spending worked out to be the most successful.

2.) 11 Aug 2025 23:09:33
Maybe they’ve overpaid and bought badly ????.

3.) 11 Aug 2025 23:43:18
Good solid post that Ani ??.

Brownhill has been in talks with Leicester, Southampton and Wolves. Looking for minimum £100k per week. A free agent so he can wait until after the deadline when deals have fallen through. I'd still take him but with lower wage but a signing on fee.

Would appear so. Our shortlist is getting even shorter.
Think we will end up with Buendia or Hamer (loan to buy) , Solomon (loan) and hopefully a surprise package-but I'm not holding my breath.

Delap is injured so Chelsea call back Guii after paying compensation to Sunderland. Within 48 hours they manage to get in a new striker and one, maybe two new players. God, we are absolutely pedestrian in recruitment and also for selling. I would have thought that the 49's would want to protect and and enhance their investment but maybe they've been conned like all the fans. Heads need to roll but not Farke's because he's been hung out to dry. I feel very sorry for him.

Solomon on his way to Palace.
The mantra early on in the window was we're building from the back and we have added a bit more quality in some additions and added a bit more depth.
But I've always thought that the spine of the team was more important. Despite a great last season there were obvious areas that needed a massive upgrade. Mez was one. He has talent but poor judgement. We have a new keeper who can catch and if he can sort out his feet he should be an upgrade.
A creative AM who can chip in with a few goals was an obvious need. Aaronson will give his all but he's a squad player at best. We've not solved that even if we get Harry Wilson.
Piroe is good in spurts in the Championship but doesn't offer enough at this level. We've got Nmecha and DCL. Neither have been prolific and their injury records aren't very reassuring. Hopefully one or both will prove me wrong.
If we'd added the AM and a decent striker who would have more chance of staying fit then it would have been a reasonable window. As it is, the recruitment team look like a bunch of headless chickens. We've been beaten to the punch by many other clubs, including some who are deemed as relegation candidates. I think we're now in that group.

Whatever you think of Grealish there's a lot of creative ability he can bring to a team. He didn't fit in with Pep or Man City and he'll have a point to prove. Just the spark we're missing. There is an option to buy at £50m. Probably too much for Everton but I do think he'll make a big difference to their season, both with his ability and physplogically.

Gone for £10m. I think long term that might be one we missed out on. He could have contributed this season but think he will develop.

Buananotte going to Chelsea and Fernandes signed for W Ham. El Khannous release clause was allegedly low £20 millions and now seemingly talking about mid 30's. Not sure where we look now. Same applies to the search for a decent striker. Looking back at Underwood's performance since Perri signed we'll probably end up with Hamer and Sargent. It's getting late and there's a good chance that we'll end up with expensive dross or pay through the nose for somebody half decent as clubs will now we're getting desperate.
