Burnley want Ramazani, maybe a PX for Flemming?

Not that long ago we all called for incisive MF for more killer balls and 3/4 were touted (I can only remember Hamer but there were more) . What has happened? We still need one.
Our problem this year will be (service and) goals.

BBC is reporting that Valencia want Elliot on loan and want Liverpool to cover half his wages. He's 'only' on 65k a week according to many sources. You'd think if we really wanted him and a loan was an option we could just offer to cover 80-100% of the wages, gazump Valencia and do the deal.

Suggests either we don't want him or other needs are more pressing right now.

31 Aug 2026 17:13:44
Liverpool would be better off 'selling' him for 1 quid than paying 1.5 million in top up wages to see out his contract.

31 Aug 2026 15:48:55
I wonder did Rodon's initial problem/injury start as a result of the effort he put in to get back and take the ball off Woods in the Forest game?
It was a last ditch tackle and he took a little knock at the time?

I think we might just do two more signings.

Rodon's hamstring has forced us into a defending signing whether we like it or not. Either a left-footed centre back or a full back capable of both sides, allowing Swiss army knife Justin to slide in to cb as the next option should one of Elvedi, Muharemovic or Bijol go down.

Diogo Leite or Max Aarons surely coming.

Int break when it comes couldn't come at a better time with three weeks to help Rodon recover a bit more.

I so wish the forward was Flemming not Mudryk.

If we don't do two more I'm not exactly worried but I'd move my prediction of 10-14th to more 14-16th.

10 - 16. I do not care so long as we do it with ease.

31 Aug 2026 15:58:51
Leeds United fans in the 1960s, 1970s, 1990s, early 2000s, etc., would never have said

..10th to 16th, I do not care.. as long as it's with ease.

It would have been, "I want 1st to 3rd, and I do blooming care."

31 Aug 2026 16:29:52
Not sure what your point is there, Baz, or the relevance from those years to present day. I'm told stamping your feet may help, but it's unproven.

31 Aug 2026 16:38:47
The point is, Class. ..Reality is, Leeds United, currently at the very best, is a making-up-the-numbers club in this league. It's a tad disappointing, to an extent.

..I guess the new stadium expansion might help to propel us forwards somewhat.

I'll leave the stamping feet to you, Class.

31 Aug 2026 16:40:53
It's not enough just to be a regular Premiership football team anymore, is it, Baz? From being promoted from the Championship only one season ago, we should be fighting for the title or a Champions League place.

The harsh realities are laid bare from the days of spend, spend, spend, and suffering the consequences later.
I'm sticking with this process rather than our Russian roulette owner of days gone by.

31 Aug 2026 17:21:31
It's a fair post, OP.

31 Aug 2026 17:08:12
I bet you have your chopper bike parked outside your house and are having angel delight for tea Baz 😂 the reality is that we are back in the Premier League where we belong! God, why don't you enjoy being a Leeds fan instead of moaning the whole time?

31 Aug 2026 17:49:08
Lurve me some Agent Delight DDSW .along with the very best Eastbourne haddock and chips down your way ..now you talking.

31 Aug 2026 17:51:26
* Angel Delight.

31 Aug 2026 20:14:59
Baz, I was responding to EKBK's post. Now, I think most supporters would like a top 3 finish this year, but actually I think EKBK will be nearer the mark.
By the way, I was a supporter in the 60s, 70s until now, and will continue to be until the day I die, but I am also a realist.

I am also older, wiser, and a tad more patient.

31 Aug 2026 20:38:15
Good follow up post Leo. 👍

31 Aug 2026 15:03:26
I recall at the start of this window that it was said that the focus was on strengthening the attacking 3rd!
30 hours to go and we haven’t strengthened the attacking at all.

We’ve flirted and romanced Paixao again seemingly to no avail again!

Chelsea don’t want Mudryk to come here so why haven’t we walked away.

Fofana is there to get.
Bohoya is there to get.
Hernandez £20m release clause
Osorio.

Strikers
Biereth
Flemming
Ilenhikena.

There’s loads of options.

They'll no doubt consider Wilson as improving the attacking 3rd. But if we see a window where Harrison, Piroe, Gelhardt, Ramazani, and Gnonto all leave, having Nmecha, Aaronson, Wilson, Okafor, James and DCL for three spots is not enough quality, and not enough depth.

I wonder, also, if they're not going to add to the centre backs much further, and move to four at the back if injuries dictate it (Elvedi and Muharemovic actually did quite well as a pair in the second half vs. Brentford) , or rely on Alfie Cresswell, Ngenge or Ampadu until Jan as real emergency depth. Remember, we all wondered if Lienou would get a chance to stake his place. We all said Amps isn't a CB, but the way the defence is going, it could happen.

31 Aug 2026 15:51:33
Amps is not a CB? You're forgetting his solid partnership with Rodon when called upon.

31 Aug 2026 15:59:55
Amps was decent at CB, but we need him in CDM.

31 Aug 2026 16:01:08
Better cb than mf. Just playing mf cause captain.

31 Aug 2026 16:06:27
Ampadu is not a Premier League CB.
And, he's too vital in CM.

31 Aug 2026 14:41:37
Leeds, Leeds have fallen asleep again.

We already know how this goes.

Willy gets his deal cancelled, won't get any game time as we've been sleeping on deals that were never really going to happen instead of moving on.

I wish I had kept a note of all the names we were linked with. Some, I know, are clickbait, but many out there are ovenready.
It seems it's the Leeds way, Lastminute.com.

31 Aug 2026 16:00:31
Guestimate of 400 plus. We signed 5.

31 Aug 2026 17:55:55
Probably about 98% of the players we’ve been linked with, and we haven’t bought already, are not on any Leeds Utd transfer target list. There are far too many made-up stories floating around on the internet.

31 Aug 2026 12:42:15
Hull's deal for Jean-Mattéo Bahoya from Eintracht Frankfurt has fallen through, is there an opening there for us to exploit if Willy goes to Fiorentina, and could we afford him?

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Aug 2026 13:34:49
If we want him and can't afford him, we can always look to loan with an obligation. Depending on their finances, it could be worked that way.

31 Aug 2026 14:36:06
We've still cash available if we want to spend it, and Willi G's move to Florentina and Ramz to probably a Championship club frees up more. But do we need an AM more than a striker and a FB?

31 Aug 2026 14:47:50
No we don't, Dun.

31 Aug 2026 10:31:39
My spuds supporting brother has gone relatively quiet, but we were discussing the demise of the playmakers in football, Maddison has been a big miss for spuds but as my brother pointed out successive Spurs managers consistently omitted him as a luxury they couldn't afford or take a risk on.

He asked me who is our best passer, which got me thinking who would we say were our top three incisive passers of a ball?

Wilson definitely top three but I'm struggling to say anyone else jumps out as an excellent passer of the football.

Brentford have very strong technical players across the midfield and forward positions at a telling stat from yesterday Brentford completed 101 passes in the final third compared to our 62, that's obviously where key chances are created.

But reasons to be despondent, no not at all for me, we are in very different stages in our epl journey to Brentford they have had six seven more transfer windows than us to get that technical level higher.

Of course we want more, better players but consider that stat above, and how Thiago gets a lot more quality balls, service, than DCL gets and yet he still gave us an excellent return and scored the equaliser yesterday when Farke to his credit, went for it and we eventually pushed a very strong team back, through team spirit and togetherness.

In summary, I'm saying it's going to be a tortuous season for some if you're comparing player for player every game, now team for team is what matters most for me and yesterday despite a football lesson in the first half and yes better opposition players in the main, our team dug in and fought for that point to remain unbeaten.

Finally, every change, we make in player recruitment must improve the team ethos while we all say we want an exciting 10 can we truly accommodate such a player at this time in our journey?

31 Aug 2026 11:02:56
Great post, class!

31 Aug 2026 11:11:26
7 seasons on ..and..

I still really miss King Pablo Hernandez.

..genuinely high quality baller ..very exciting.

31 Aug 2026 12:30:58
Been too long since replacing. I did like Saiz too. Last flair players were Raphi or Georgi.

31 Aug 2026 13:34:26
Good post there, Class, and I do think the same way.
Our passing was quite good against Forest, and I felt it was an improvement from last season. The problem is, against some of the more technically experienced teams, they do keep the ball a lot better than us, and we rely on a very good, structured defensive system to nullify their attacks.

The way we played in the second half is not sustainable for the full 90mins; we just don't possess that high technical ability throughout our squad. But what we do possess is a desire and team spirit to constantly be a pain in the ass to our opponents.

I think Farke has installed that belief into all our players, that's why, even without a skilled playmaker, we are still able to thrive and be a constant threat.

We are what we are on this journey. Constantly bemoaning not being able to spend a huge amount of money is just a waste of time; it's not going to change anything. I believe in this process for the first time since Wilkinson's tenure. It's got something very real about it. Patience is required.

31 Aug 2026 14:27:19
I think fans need to appreciate we don't have a team of Mbappes, and at the end of every game, they shouldn't bemoan any player who didn't perform like him. We are definitely an example of something better than the sum of all the parts.

We have some really decent players, who, as a whole, perform great as a team. Like O/P said, Farke has, with back room, developed a really good spirit amongst the group.

As to the original question, who is our best passer? Well, hmm, Wilson in theory, I guess (though it's not shown through just yet) . Oddly enough, Nmecha sees a good pass, as shown yesterday (to me he was the big difference yesterday) . We don't have any great passers, though, on occasion they all are capable of that defence splitting pass, just not often enough.
