I think Hull winning the playoffs is a great scenario for Leeds

We extract 10-15m for Gelhardt as Hull look for continuity.
We convince Middlesbrough that their final missing piece is one Joel Piroe. Either ask for 8m +2m with promotion, or use Piroe as a makeweight for Hayden Hackney if we really fancy
him.

Commiserations to Ayling and congratulations to Lewie Coyle and the aforementioned Gelhardt.
I don't expect Hull to be competitive next season, sadly but what a day for them.

23 May 2026 20:23:27
I think the money you tout for Joffy is way above his current value, and Hull won't be spending that some on him, if anything at all.
Agree, tho, re JP / Hackney possibilities.
Will just have to sit and wait to see what happens once tomorrow is done and dusted.

23 May 2026 20:33:52
Interesting suggestions, but.

1) As Canada alluded to, Joffy seems to now be less in favour at Hull in EFL. A sub often. would they even want to sign him in EPL, certainly not at the fees you suggested.

2) Re Piroe, I have seen several articles stating that Piroe would not agree to move to a Champo club.

Hopefully, though, we can find a club for him in Holland or elsewhere.

He only has one year left on his contract before he is a free.

23 May 2026 22:00:39
Hull winning promotion will be a pain in the ass for us. Our games against them, home and away, will 100% be their cup final games of the season, even if they will be destined to return to the Championship.

23 May 2026 22:12:08
Relax, OP.
Leeds United have a good record vs Hull..
Since 2016.
Won 8, Draw 4, Lost 2.

23 May 2026 22:50:21
Joffy scored 15 goals this season, but with a year left on his contract, he is probably worth £2/3m, but Hull might double that for a player they know who has some PL experience and can be a decent squad player. tbh, most of the players we want to offload don't have much value - Wober, Schmidt, Joffy, Harrison. We'll probably take a loss, or at best break even, on some others if we decide to let them go - Perri, James, Bournauw, Ramzanni, Piroe and Gruev.

We'll make a profit on Willie G. We've seen how stretched we are at the end of the season, so if we offload six of the current first-team group, plus add four or five new expensive signings who significantly improve the squad (striker, AM, CB, WB X2) , where's the money coming from and do we have enough cover?

23 May 2026 23:17:29
Agree, Dunelm, it's all well and good shipping out loads of players, but they have to be replaced one way or another, otherwise we will end up with a lightweight squad - only takes a few injuries and the cupboard will start to look pretty empty!

23 May 2026 23:28:16
Don't think we'll get £10-15M from Hull for Joffy. More like £5-8M. Wouldn't mind getting Hayden Hackney, but would prefer Harvey Elliott. Congrats also to another Leeds old boy, Cody Drameh. Good for the travelling fans, it's only about one hour to Hull, versus one and a half to Middlesbrough, or four hours plus to Southampton.

24 May 2026 07:54:40
Well, I've been giving my fishing m8s the banter over @ the coast & Hull!
Congratulated them for going up, but said it will be a welcome 6 points for us. 🤍💛💙
Regarding Joffy, don't think they will pay anything above 10.
BBC gossip today, we're looking @ Southampton midfielder Shea Charles!
Hope we finish with a win today.. Up The Whites, Down The Pints. 🤍💛💙

24 May 2026 08:59:38
Give me Elliott over Hackney all day long.
Liverpool said to want £25m for him, boro will want £20+ for Hackney, who's got no prem experience.

We are still at the stage where we need players proven in the top leagues, not gambling on Championship potential.

24 May 2026 09:30:39
Totally with dunelm and cleggy on this one. Who leaves this summer will largely depend on what we bring in. A lot of those touted to leave will likely still be with us next seez, unless we have a load of freebies lined up. A few key injuries would leave us skeletal otherwise.

24 May 2026 11:59:47
Middlesbrough would be the same OP. As Baz says, we have a good recent record against Hull.

23 May 2026 17:05:06.
15 mins to go and this has to be one of the worst games of football I’ve ever watched.
Neither Hull or Boro will make waves in the Prem next season.

23 May 2026 17:55:56
McBurnie is only 29. I thought he was in his mid 30s, as he seems to have been around forever.

23 May 2026 19:07:38
Delighted for Lewie Coyle and Joe, I honestly believe with five or six strong additions, Hull could comfortably beat the lowest ever points accumulated record in the EPL.

23 May 2026 19:09:13
Said same to a pal earlier.

Although, I would still say ours v Saints was the worst playoff game ever.

Hull straight back down.

You heard it here 1st. 🙈🤣

23 May 2026 20:12:55
Very well done to Hull, pleased for them, and well done Super Joffy.

Hull, Ipswich and Coventry got it all to do next season, though one supposes.

23 May 2026 20:18:28
So, Boro make history in being the first club in the same season

to lose the Playoffs semi final

and lose the Playoffs final.

(plus they bottled a tad the top 2 auto plsces) .

Impressive. Well, sort of.

24 May 2026 00:10:38
Coventry and Hull will both have loadsamoney to spend on new players like Sunderland did last year, so one of them could be next season's surprise package. Hope it's not Coventry, as would like to see Fat Frank get some well deserved comeuppance.

24 May 2026 09:02:08
JR, will they have bucket loads under the new rules?
I've genuinely no idea, but isn't it calculated on turnover & revenue now?
Also, it's got to be spent wisely.

24 May 2026 12:00:46
Yes, a real downer for Boro.

23 May 2026 14:39:31
Off to snoozy land now.
Good luck to Hull although I fear the worst.
Bag a hatrick gel.

23 May 2026 17:54:30
He didn't score, but we should get a bigger feel now, Hull are in the PL. They like him, and his PL experience all suggests he'll stay on Humberside.

23 May 2026 19:04:12
Yet, he wasn't even a starter, don't think they like him that much!

23 May 2026 12:39:52
Hoping the football gods, do the right thing today, and Hull win against Boro, not that Boro did anything wrong themselves, but Hull would be a strong candidate to be relegated next season and could afford to pay us for Joffy.

It’s the Sunderland route, Hull were 10 points behind Millwall whom they beat in the semis and will obviously have max room in terms of spending as Sunderland did.

Probably the best route to the premiership if you can pull it off but fraught with risk all the same.

23 May 2026 14:42:06
100% first paragraph class. I had Southampton surviving. See, Boro are the better team, so def want Hull to win.

Never knew Calvert Lewin is Yorkshire born and bred.
Apparently it’s why he’s so happy to be at Leeds amongst his native people.

Ironic that he came to the club with the label of sicknote and he is on our last game of the season tomorrow as virtually one of our last first team players still standing.

It’s unfortunate for him personally that he wasn’t selected for the W.

Cup. Don't think he would have seen much action if he had really.
Farke will be happy he’s not going, he and Okafor you’d probably think are the stand out players who you wouldn’t want going to the WCup with their respective injury track records.

Good luck to him, Gabby and Ao for their respective countries, I might watch some of their games to see how they get on.

Agree5 Disagree0

24 May 2026 08:26:10
His accent a little bit of a giveaway, no?

24 May 2026 09:33:37
You could be right there, Cork. 🤣
To be fair, I haven't listened to him in an interview, or if I had, I simply didn't notice. Just assumed with all that fashion stuff he's into that he might be a Southerner type.
Obviously not.

24 May 2026 12:01:50
DCL is a Sheffield lad.

23 May 2026 08:06:13
I wonder which team out of England, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, France or Argentina that under perform at the World Cup and sack their manager, will hire Pep. Guaranteed a few of those would have registered their interest already.

Agree3 Disagree0

23 May 2026 09:20:28
Yep. I think that's the real reason he's chopped citeh in now. He wants international next, and doesn't want an also ran team, only one that gives him the best chance of winning tournaments. Typical.

23 May 2026 09:33:49
You can understand it though, Bright. His resume puts him above teams like Wales, etc. Way of the world. Although, I would be interested in how he could do with teams like Belgium, Sweden, Norway, etc.

23 May 2026 10:05:03
His CV clearly states he inherited the best team in world football.

He then followed a cash trail, and was given the green light to spend, spend, spend in 2 different countries.

Please explain what "qualifications" he needed for that, and would you not agree Neil Warnock could have done what he's done with what he's had given to him?

How did the title go this Seez, Pep?
How did the title go last Seez, Pep?

23 May 2026 11:08:32
How many times had City won the Prem League before Pep? Did the previous City managers that failed also inherit the best team on the planet?
Animal warning won a lot of Championship promotions but no prems for a reason. He is useless. Face facts. Not sentiment.

23 May 2026 11:08:32
Don't think Italy will underperform or over perform, Aus. 😉

23 May 2026 11:33:53
I'll answer your 1st question with a question, Aus.

How many ex City managers' collective budgets would need to be accrued to make up what had been given to him? Even taking inflation into account.

And, by the way, it's a rhetorical question.

🤣

Undoubtedly, he knows football inside out, but the level of adulation shown to him is mindboggling, considering he has spent
Over 2 billion pounds on players.

That's right, Aus, it's a B where it's normally a M.
🤣🤣🤣

23 May 2026 14:32:29
It's progress, Chris. Grow up. How many teams in the top 6 in the Prem have the same budget as now, compared to 10 yrs ago? Errr. 0.
Man City.
2 prems in 40 yrs v 6 in 10.

23 May 2026 15:33:39
Whataboutery at its finest, Aus.

What do you seriously expect for a 2 billion pounds spend? Or is that just a consequence of being famous?

Numbers are off the charts, end of story.

I leave it there.

23 May 2026 16:37:27
Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man United not exactly low spenders either, Cc.

23 May 2026 16:40:46
Not to mention Tottenham, Newcastle and Arsenal!
Pretty sure most of the six teams I mentioned have spent similar amounts to City in, say, the last five seasons?

23 May 2026 19:13:44
Fully aware who spent what, Cork, but
It was about Pep, and the total amnesia from media about his spending.

None of the others are held in the same regard, strangely, at times you would think Pep invented the game of football.

23 May 2026 20:38:59
I'm starting to think you're not a Pep fan?

23 May 2026 20:58:14
Strange I'm giving off that impression, Cork, eh? 🤣🤣🤣

Pep won't be losing any sleep over it, so all's ok, pal. 🤣
