The win at Old Trafford was The Game, possibly the game that saved us.
Fair play to DF and the lads, as getting three wins out of four at this stage of the season is some achievement.
I was hoping for 50 points at the start of the season probably because I have high aspirations for our club and am an optimistic sod, believe it or not. Two wins and a draw and we’ve got there.
MOT.

Yep 100. 💯 Corkey, those 3 points at OT were huge in us keeping ahead of those below us.
. In addition, I am a firm believer that the 4 game winning FA Cup run gave the Leeds United squad much added and needed confidence (especially the euphoria of winning the epic FA Cup QF match at West Ham) .
Without the Cup run, I don't think we beat Man U at Old Trafford in the EPL.

02 May 2026 20:54:02
Also, Leeds' late, late escape and equaliser at Bournemouth were also significant. That extra point was very helpful.
12000 stadium capacity Bournemouth, imo, will finish 6th this season. Does this mean they replace 60,000 capacity Spuds as a top 6 club? 😆 Stadium capacity seems less relevant to success these days in EPL.
Top 6 big club Spuds. The misnomer of all misnomers.

02 May 2026 20:56:15
I never thought of that, Baz, and that's a fair point. The way the team played in that first half at Old Trafford showed a team full of confidence. So, yes, I agree with your summary.
3
02 May 2026 21:25:26
Imagine how good Bournemouth would be if run as now, but with Spurs income!
2
03 May 2026 05:49:49
I guess you could point to several key matches, the 3-1 against Chelsea, 4-1 against Palace, two draws against Pool, all pivotal at the time, as was the win at OT. But, again, it is the sum of all that is important, and losing just 4 matches after the City match in December is impressive stuff.

03 May 2026 07:51:49
I think, if you want to look at a so called season defining game that saved us, then that would surely be a game that we actually lost, which Vid correctly points out.
Farke's change of formation mid-game against Man City was literally a game changer for us, and undoubtedly the reason we are not already relegated.

I don't believe that a cup run helped us to beat Man U. We turned up to play. If that is the case, why didn't we beat Chelsea on the day we weren't at our game? If we can play like we did every game, we would be well up the table. And I know I am a bit biased on the cup run anyway, but my view.
Another player was sent off for hair pulling, and we had Rooney and Robinson saying it should be part of the game as he's pulling shirts really.
You can tell these two don't have hair and aren't playing anymore. It's like spitting, that should be banned too. There's absolutely no reason for it. If you wanna spit, go off, spit into a spit bag, and then wait for the referee to allow you to come back on. Let's see if spitting is really necessary, because, believe me, they won't do it. It's even in the Women's game now, that is disgusting.

03 May 2026 09:26:33 I agree Baz, the win at West Ham was massive for the team's confidence. If West Ham lose to Arsenal next Sunday, we will be safe before we play Tottenham.
02 May 2026 16:09:42
Well, the only questions remaining are how high can we go and who are we going to relegate. Magnificent season from the boys. Trust in the recruitment people, they proved themselves this season, Stach, Okafor, JJ, Gabby, DCL, Bijol, 6 big hits out of 10 recruited. I am sure they will do us proud this market. Off to the beach 😆😅🤣.
2
02 May 2026 16:47:16
Yep, Davey, those 6 players have been great. 👍 Okafor, especially 2nd half of season.
Loving the Brentford 3 vs West Ham scoreline.
2
02 May 2026 18:07:27
Gabby - player of the season, hopefully he's not pulled away from us next season.
2
02 May 2026 20:14:23
Hope Forest go down! Their owner seems like a proper tit. In saying that, I don't really care, because we are staying up!
2
02 May 2026 20:26:27
Forest will stay up. They've too much quality, and Wood is back, which makes them even better. We need a 20-goal-a-season striker like him next season. Re Gabby. He's on a long contract, so if he does go, it will be for big bucks.
I'd rather he stays, but eventually it will be down to the player. If his head is turned, then it's difficult to keep him, but he won't come cheap.
1
02 May 2026 20:55:39
Seems a lot of peeps on here think Gabby is player of the season..
Not sure why. Defensively, he is suspect.
2
02 May 2026 23:49:28
100 % agree. Not even a goal or an assist in the league all season, a few great runs, but no end product. Don't get me wrong, he has been good, but not player of the season for me either.
1
03 May 2026 00:14:25
Absolutely, Dec.. not even in my top 5 LUFC players of the season.
1
03 May 2026 05:45:11
Stach for me, closely followed by DCL.
0
03 May 2026 06:52:09
Good shout, Davey. 👏 Stach's stats are impressive.
For me it's DCL 1st.
Closely followed by Rodon, Stach and Amps in 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
Then Okafor and Darlow 5th and 6th in my top six.

For me, there hasn’t really been one very clear outstanding player of our season.
I would give all our players Player of the Season, as they have all done extremely well, and, more importantly, played as a complete and unified team.
They have all played for each other. We don’t have a team of individual superstars, just hard-working, non-egotistical players who believe in their individual qualities, and, most of all, as a team.
02 May 2026 09:22:59
Last night was not a perfect display but it was without doubt a perfect result. All credit to the staff for developing such a great team spirit and self confidence. The last few league games have been tremendous and it's a shame we did not put away a very ordinary Chelsea side.
I thought the teram played better without Ba and Pascal worries me at times but all in all tremendous.

02 May 2026 09:52:57
A fair assessment, Prime. I agree regarding Struick, but I do think Aaronson has done well for us this season. I was hoping we would get a couple more when we went three up, but Burnley didn't throw the towel in. Job done. Now, let's see what the others do over the weekend.
5
02 May 2026 12:28:03
Prime, Aaronson has done very well for us. It's a shame that he didn't score the goal against Chelsea, but everyone will recall it and moan about him. I really don't see what he can do to get fans on his side.
Whatever happens within the coming months, I wish him all the very best, and a big thank you if he is not with us next season.

02 May 2026 12:46:02
BA has had a much better season than I expected from him. He can certainly frustrate in the final third, and can look a little lightweight at times (though I think he has improved a bit on that this season) . His form around Xmas was exceptional for a 6-7 game stretch.
His reputation suffers a bit, I think, from A. Such a high transfer fee, which he probably wasn't worth (£25m) , is symptomatic of many signings that led to relegation. The fact the club paid that much for him is not his fault.
He was one of the relegation loan departures.
And yes, he did make amends by coming back, fighting for his place, and helping us get up. That has gone a long way for me with him. He took criticism on the chin, and has done his best to prove himself.
I so, so wish he had had time with Bielsa and Pablo. They could have used his work ethic and energy very effectively, and Pablo could have been the perfect role model for, sometimes, just slowing down. Ifs, buts, and maybes. He is currently a decent player. There is a very, very good player in there, though.
2
02 May 2026 17:35:10
I agree with Whiteman!
1
02 May 2026 19:07:44
I don't agree regarding Struijk. Sure, he makes mistakes sometimes, as does every player, but he's generally a steady defender. Plus, he's a powerful presence at corners and set pieces, and a good penalty taker when it comes to shoot outs. As for BA, at the start of the season, like many, I said I didn't think he was up to PL standard, but he's surprised me.
His work rate is excellent, but he gets muscled off the ball too easily and his shooting when in a scoring position is at best mediocre. Compare him with Okafor, who puts away many more of his chances. I'd be happy to keep him if Farke thinks he can still improve, but I think we may have to call time on him and look for an upgrade somewhere.
02 May 2026 09:07:06
Comparing De-Zerbi’s demeanour with Farke’s, I genuinely don’t believe spuds will win another game this season.
Brighton at home will be tough, but no tougher than Devon, Bournemouth, Liverpool away.
As for Spuds and West Ham away, other than the already relegated teams, that’s exactly who you would choose to play if you could pick. I personally think we will pick up between 5-7 points before season ends.

02 May 2026 12:08:08
Not for me, Class. Away games in London have never been a happy hunting ground for us, and two in succession that we can't afford to lose is not my idea of fun.
Hopefully, by the time we get to play Wet Sham, the result will be irrelevant, but at least a point at Spuds next week, and the fat lady can start warming up her voicebox.
2
02 May 2026 13:14:20
We can play with a bit more freedom, which may help us against the London club, hopefully to a win.
3
02 May 2026 14:13:05
JR, it's worth noting this season we've only had two defeats in London, the obvious one being the hammering by Arsenal and the other being a very fortunate Fulham win with the unfortunate last minute o.g by Gudmundsson.
I don't think we have that monkey on our back in London anymore.
I'm only seeing a Leeds win against a broken Tottenham Hotspur.
2
02 May 2026 17:38:28
I'm feeling 6 of the best London points!
Both are gonna have to go at us, which we will exploit!
1
02 May 2026 18:07:29
If Spurs lose to Villa tomorrow, then they're really up against it, and at best can only draw level on points with a worse goal difference, but the big one is if Arsenal beat West Ham in 8 days' time. Then, we're safe, and can go to Spurs the following day with confidence and play them off the park.
2
02 May 2026 19:15:08
Yes OP, you're correct, we have done a lot better than hitherto in London this season, so maybe I'm fretting unnecessarily. Today's results have probably made the issue irrelevant, as Wet Sham are now 7 pts behind us with 3 to play, one of which is Arsenal, so I can't see them catching us now. Spuds maybe, or maybe not. We shall see.
1
02 May 2026 20:58:34
We haven't won in London all season.
Seven 7 matches so far.
Including semi-final FA Cup at Wembley and QF at West Ham.
Plus 5 EPL matches.
So not sure why some peeps suddenly think we are doing a double away win at Spuds and West Ham. 🤔
1
{Ed025's Note - i cant see the significance of where you play in England Baz be it north west, north east or the north bank highbury mate, its not as if the team are walking there or going by horse and cart..its just another ground..
1
02 May 2026 21:21:53
* Correction.. we did win on penalties vs West Ham in FA Cup, so one win in seven.
1
02 May 2026 21:30:26
In reality, if Whu even draw with Arsenal, our much better GD makes us safe. Can't see anything other than a win for the Gunners based on today's result, though. Will be away until last game of season, likely with little to no internet, so very happy we are as good as safe.
1
02 May 2026 22:27:22
True, Baz, we've not won in the smoke all season, apart from the FA Cup quarter-final, but, crucially, apart from Arsenal and a freak result at Fulham, we've not lost either. For us to be relegated, we'd need to lose both our away games at Spuds and Wet Sham, and our home game against Brighton, whilst the three teams below us win most or all of theirs.
As time goes on, this is looking ever more improbable.
1
02 May 2026 23:21:07
Fair points JR16
I take your point Ed025.
But.it is what it is.Leeds United used to be pretty good away vs London teams decades ago but not really at all in more recent times.
01 May 2026 22:43:36
Good 3 pts. But I have to say, that was one of the worst refereeing performances I've seen.
Tanaka was pushed and kicked so much it was a joke. But the one that really annoyed me was a great tackle by Longstaff given as a foul right in front of him. Pathetic display if you ask me.
6
01 May 2026 23:33:07
Totally agree, Canada, truly appalling refereeing. We think we have problems with VAR? Think again. Embarrassing officiating for Premiership standards.
In my mind, I'm thinking, how low can this go?
6
02 May 2026 05:40:44
In case anyone has forgotten, that was the same incompetent who gave Gabby a second yellow card in the Palace game, after forgetting he'd already given him one, but then let Brennan Johnson get away with 2 clear infringements, which together should have seen him get a red.
4
02 May 2026 07:06:57
Spot on, Canada! Yet another shocking joker! Where do they dig them up from?
2
02 May 2026 09:08:14
Never seen a ref be so quick to pull out a yellow card for the Leeds players!
Shouldn't be allowed to officiate a Leeds game again, especially after the 1st game!
Shocking!
3
02 May 2026 09:49:06
He carried on where he left off at Palace. Awful refereeing display.
01 May 2026 22:37:41
Farke finally realized Stach a better and more dangerous AM than Aaronson? Only took 34 league games!
Great to see players getting shots off from outside the box and not getting deterred by XG, which is actually a thing from coaches these days.
Great 3 points, disappointing last half hour. Excellent points return from last four matches.
5
02 May 2026 00:00:00
Yes, Corky, 10 points from 12 in last 4 matches have been crucial.
3
02 May 2026 07:09:20
Not just the last 4. Our form from December (which is often the case for Farke teams) has been excellent too, tho, the delivery over the last 4, under intense pressure, has been impressive!
2
02 May 2026 09:18:49
Is that a Farke statistic, Bright?
0
02 May 2026 10:34:31
No, it's Farketastic, Aus. 😁
4
02 May 2026 11:28:48
Hilarious vid. Get your coat.
01 May 2026 21:41:01
We've become very passive after the third goal. Burnley are not a good team but we are slowly letting them back in.
3
01 May 2026 22:17:27
Certainly, took the foot off the gas, and let them get a goal back, but the job was done by them. 9 points up on Spuds and +5 GD. Also up to 14th above the Barcodes.
5
{Ed025's Note - who could ask for more JR?..
4
01 May 2026 22:18:53
Agreed, Dune.. Disappointing we regressed so much last 30 mins.
3
{Ed025's Note - glass half empty is not a good look tonight imo Baz..
5
01 May 2026 22:23:36
Good in parts.
Vital 3 points. Yesss.
Man of the match Dan James, lol.
Over to Villa, Brentford, Chelsea and whoever Saudi Barcodes are playing.
3
01 May 2026 22:27:47
Very happy to win that game and secure our future in the Premiership, although not mathematically.
Anybody thinking that Burnley would just roll over and let us win 5-0 would be, in my estimation, very naive.
You could see, in the way they gave everything, even at three nil down.
Fortunately for us, we got the better of them this time.
5
01 May 2026 22:52:34
We got the all important win Ed025 I am very happy with that.result all important as I stated above
But moving forward we need to address this.it's happened a lot this season.too much
2
{Ed025's Note - i just thought you would be happier Baz, this season was a learning curve mate and you passed with flying colours, just enjoy it and worry about the next chapter when it comes..
