A lot of comments being made about the attempted approach of Sunderland for Noah Okafor yesterday.
Rumours made of 35 Mil offered, I don't believe for one second Sunderland offered that amount if at all.
One thing I do know is that Okafor is an asset to the club, whether he's a sixty minute man or not, for me I definitely want him to stay.

We've seen recently that he's been given a more central role which he seems to benefit.
I think he welcomes Bahoya's inclusion. Nothing like a healthy competitive spirit in the squad.

The offer was reported by the local press in both Leeds and Sunderland as £30M or €35M. Like you, I was surprised at the amount, but can only go on the information available. He joined us last year from AC Milan for £17M, so if another club are prepared to offer us nearly double that, it tells us we have a valuable asset on our hands.

Okafor was our 2nd highest scorer last seez, so him playing more central this seez might prove even more fruitful from a goals perspective.

As for Bahoya, if he is even half as good as the previous forward Mr Tony Yeboah, that Leeds United signed from Eintracht Frankfurt, then we are in for some exciting fireworks. 🎆

Ah, Tony Yeboah, what memories. That man never scored a boring goal; most were 20+ yard blockbusters. I recall one famous example against Liverpool. Dominic Matteo was playing for Liverpool that day, and later said that all he could recall was it flying over his head, and thinking that David James was not going to stop it - and he didn't!

I heard it reported that a number of clubs asked about him, and the best offer from that group was in the region of 35 million, so not necessarily from Sunderland.

One of the elite WACCOE ITK's actually stated early in the summer that Leeds would consider a deal for him if a good offer came in.

For a player with one assist last season, and who cannot complete a game, I'd be onboard with that. Could have been a fine time to sell, and selling better is most certainly something the club have needed to do for decades.

Had we got the offer earlier in the window, I think we would have taken it, but with low squad numbers, lack of left-sided and ST cover, and uncertainty about Bahoya, we would have been daft to accept on the final day.

The best news out of all of this, is that He wanted to stay! As Frogus alluded to, I don't believe the actual offer was from Sunderland, but someone else. Sunderland enquired about his availability and were given short shrift, rightly, at that stage of the window.

I got the impression, and alluded to it a month or so ago, that Noah was being looked at as backup to DCL. This is kinda backed up by the lack of signings in that area. Is it possible that Daniel Farke may be looking at him reverting to his original role?

He was our second top scorer last season, and, having decided to bring in a new left winger, and not the new central striker many of us clamoured for (me included) , it seems he may adopt a more central role. With ongoing injury fears about DCL and Nmecha, selling him isn't something I'd have considered at all, let alone on deadline day.

He's not a natural winger, so his assist tally isn't good, but he is a good finisher, given the opportunity, so this season could be a new beginning for him, and I'm sure the fitness coaches will be trying to improve his stamina.

Interesting posts above. Food for thought. And, Wimbledon Baz.

Someone offers us 35million two weeks ago, and we would have sold him and bought Paixao. Three awful crosses at the weekend on his left foot, very low assist record, and cannot do more than 60 mins. Too many basing him on two goals at OT.

Yeah Aus, Yeboah's goal vs Wimbledon was a unique, perfect work of art.

Okafor over Ox cubes. Why?
One does. One never did.

03 Sep 2026 14:20:06
I do not believe that any club offered Leeds United £35 million for Okafor.

And, FrogMax, give over on the Paxo cubes to Leeds' imaginary stuff. It's evident Paxo never wanted to come to Leeds, nor Sunderland and others for that matter.

It was never ever going to happen!

Basing it on his past position, not 2 goals!

No wonder Leeds couldn't get the Murdryk deal done before Spurs entered the race. BBC sports journalist saying Chelsea wouldn't compromise on the obligation to sign Murdryk after his loan expired next season for a massive £75 million if he played so many games.

No idea what Leeds offered but I doubt it was much more than we paid for Trafford so £50 million maybe max so Spurs are welcome to him and I think this Bahoya lad looks like a much better fit and was obviously meant to be and by all reports his potential ceiling value over the next couple of seasons is close to the ridiculous amount Chelsea were asking for Murdryk who's not kicked a ball in a meaningful game for 2 years.

Massive credit to the recruitment team who I think has definitely exceeded last season and got us a very good squad that I personally think can challenge for top half at least.

They'd have to have been off their heads to offer £50M for a player who's not had a competitive game for over a year, to me, £25M max is as far as I'd have gone. I can see the same thing happening to him at Spurs as happened to Harvey Elliott at Villa, not cut the mustard and be not played to avoid triggering the obligation.

I think we dodged a very expensive bullet there.

No way should anyone be locked into an obligation, and especially with this player.

9/10 window.

Only really lacking the back up striker. Got rid of all the deadwood too in one form or another.

Not a fan of signing a striker as a priority anymore, to be honest. We have 3. Okafor is a good 9, converted to a winger. We also have enough attacking players that could play without a 9 if needed. DCL getting injured is a big concern. Ampadu getting injured puts it in the halfpenny place.

A marquee 6/8 that can both cover and play beside Ampadu is the biggest upgrade this team can get right now imo. We would constantly have 3 class mf on the pitch every single game. That's a far bigger impact than a 9 on the bench.

Talking of Okafor, what a surprise to hear that Sunderland made an offer for him of £30-35M. Happy that both the club and the player turned it down flat. I agree that in the absence of a new/additional No 9, Okafor can now play further inside with a natural left winger in Bahoya.

Bard confirmed by club.
Nothing official from club about Bahoya?

Bard is officially signed.
Will we get Bahoya done in time?

Deal sheet is in, apparently.

Apparently we knocked back a Sunderland approach for Okafor today.

1

01 Sep 2026 21:47:14
If it had come earlier, and the offer was big enough, and we'd time to find an alternative, then I'd have been tempted. Okafor has his moments, but he's not got great stamina, and is prone to minor injuries, which keep him out for short periods.

Bahoya gets a Romano “Here We Go”. Season long loan with a €30m obligation.
Player heading for medical. I’d guess medical will be done in Germany.

01 Sep 2026 19:00:17
I don't understand how they can get a medical done in a few hours? Other signings have gone into a second day.
