My dad has been saying he hopes Leeds get promoted before he "kicks the bucket" these past couple of years.
Bank holiday Monday he was rushed to hospital which turned out to be a perforated bowel. Unfortunately his overall health meant an operation would have been futile.
I watched him die that evening at just after midnight but not before he asked me how Burnley had gotten on in the late game having earlier told him of our 6-0 win. "Great" he mumbled when I said Burnley had won and we were up. He never said another word and was gone a few hours later.
My Dad the man who made me a Leeds United fan was Leeds until he died.
RIP Dec.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know whether to smile or cry reading that Cork, but thanks for sharing mate..and condolences to you and your family..

My heart goes out to you Corky, I hope in time, and the fact you and your Dad shared the news of Leeds promotion together will grow into a positive binding memory, my sincere condolences to the rest of your family also.

I lost my own father last year and I still miss him terribly, but he supported Devon, so I’ll leave that there.

Thanks so much for all your kind words.
I thought twice about posting my heartache but I’m glad I did. Sometimes it’s easier to talk to relative strangers even though I’ve spoken to you guys for many a year.
Thanks again for your lovely comments I really appreciate it.

Corky, so sorry for your loss. Your story is so poignant and a real reminder of what the club means to those of us lucky enough to have shared the experience with Mums, Dads, Grandparents and loved ones. Elland road is my church, it’s where I remember and where I well up just about every time marching on together blares out! just about everybody important to me in my life has watched Leeds with me at Elland road over the years! Thinking of you!
