It was always likely to happen, with the rumours swirling around and no comment from the club re extending his contract.
There may be offers from other clubs which might push the price up a bit, but £20/25m is fair with one year left and probably wanting a move.


The good thing is that it's happening early, which should give us plenty of time to find a replacement.
Players don't stay forever nowadays and he's been a good asset for Leeds over many years and cost very little. Hopefully he'll leave on good terms with the fans and the Club.

His Man City contract is til 2030, so likely they're in no hurry to sell, thinking they'd be able to grab him back when Donnarumma gets too old - hence the extravagant price, so it may have to be just a loan, but that would at least have less impact on our SCR spending limit.

I must admit, I didn't think Leeds would be in the market for a new keeper once Darlow agreed his new deal, but these Trafford-to-us on-loan rumours seem to be growing, and it made me wonder if Perri going to sit on the Man City bench on loan in a sort of swap gk loan arrangement might be in the pipeline.



Also, strong rumours of Xhaka leaving Sunderland and going to Chelsea should help weaken our North East rivals, and without him I can see Leeds finishing comfortably above them.

Dan Neil will be a free agent from Sunderland. Southampton are in talks and maybe a medical is booked, but Hull and Middlesbrough are also interested. I think Charles will eventually come to Elland Road.
I would have thought that Joffy might have been a good part of this deal.

It's gone quiet on the Hull side because of financial restraints, but he could do a good job for a Championship side like Southampton. Maybe there is some sort of agreement with Hull?

These things take time to do properly, plus multiple locations can be involved. Leeds have been known to use Spire at Thorpe Park for part of the medicals, for instance. It can also depend on schedules, when the player can get there (Wilson was flown in from London, I believe) , when the medical specialists are available, etc., so it may have been that they just didn't have time to do it all on the same day.
