Don't want to jinx it but for probably the first time in my life, get in Millwall!

Anirmal agreed they are playing just like us well both teams to be fair, still never did understand the MB fitness thing,

Smith you legend!

Just watched highlights back in sky. Hadn’t realised it was Bamford that hacked the ball off the line before sprinting the full length of the pitch to receive Klick’s pass. Wish he had tucked it away but of course Alioski (and Costa to be fair) had also sprinted the full length of the pitch to tuck away the rebound. Bravo Sir Patrick. Bielsaball in action.

Shows how the fitness regime pays off for not just one but three players to sprint the whole pitch in the final minutes of a game.

2.) 11 Dec 2019 12:28:52
Also Bamford 'laid out' their keeper, allowing Alioski to slot home!
Dirty Leeds, love it! 😂💙😂💙.

3.) 11 Dec 2019 13:22:40
Think the keeper run into his arm and then tripped Bamford up.

4.) 11 Dec 2019 17:05:01
I’ve just watched the video again and again

There’s no way Bamford initiates any contact deliberately

He’s watching his shot hit the post not running the keeper

What are they on about?

The second contact he’s only watching the ball and Alioski
Moving backwards to get out the way of the shot he falls over the keeper

He’s clearly no idea the keeper is still even there.

5.) 11 Dec 2019 17:07:57
Watching the replay from behind the goal, there was naff all contact, and all of their defence and keeper are whining about nothing.

Couple of thoughts. Start of season we dominated teams but couldn’t score. Yesterday I thought we were second best for large chunks of the match but produced moments of sheer quality at both ends (3 goals and a couple of worldwide saves) that won the match - this seems to be a recurring theme and is perhaps more sustainable over the course of a season than expecting to wallop every team off the pitch. Second point - away from home we have scored 3 in first half and 14 in second half. Rather than chasing the game and wasting lots of energy we seem more patient happy to wear teams out and capitalise as they tire. Benefit of Bielsa second year. Ps Ben White not a CDM and Berardi still a liability.

Ben White, class act and still developing

Berra, gives everything for the cause

Bielsa trusts him, that’s all you need to know.

2.) 08 Dec 2019 11:47:43
Ben White class act, totally agree. Berra gives everything totally agree. It's just how he gives it and his "over enthusiasm" that worries me. A red card waiting to happen.

3.) 08 Dec 2019 14:18:57
Leodis

I would rather have a "red card waiting to happen" on my leeds teamssheet than one of the wasters we have had over the past decade who have signed for us for the big payday and given nothing on the pitch

Beradi is limited. I am sure he knows he is no Dani Alves. But everyday he can look in the mirror and say he is proud that he gives 100% of what god has given him. Any red card he has ever been given is because he has been giving 100% and has been bettered. He has never been given a red card because he is a spoilt brat that kicks out (Joey Barton anyone? ) .
Beradi would not be in my first XI, but I would love him in my squad. Totally professional (he has never been found to be driving drunk, or racing expensive cars) and give everything

When we make it to the Premier League I really hope that this man is kept on. Another contract, with a remit of bringing on out next generation. What a fabulous role model for the likes of Davis, Struick, Casey, Cresswell, Gotts, Steven's, Bogusz, Edmondson et all.

4.) 08 Dec 2019 14:23:45
Thought Berra was excellent yesterday, and never looked likely to lose the plot! Which is great in a derby match!

5.) 08 Dec 2019 14:52:03
I totally agree with your sentiment Axe but would argue with your choice of comparison. Try comparing him with all the defenders on our books (who also have no drink driving convictions) or even any one of the eligible defenders, church goers who still live at home, who we could have bought. No, I fully agree that he is a fully committed, heart on sleeve, defender and playing a controlled game is an accomplished defender. My only concern is that it is too easy to press his self destruct button. Then so difficult to play a game walking a yellow card tightrope or worse still, with 10 men.

6.) 08 Dec 2019 16:34:19
i agreee with the sentiment and if i ever met berra i'd love to buy him a pint, in a day of modern day players this guy is old school and respect for that. however i think we have to be honest he is just not very good, he ain't a great right back, let alone left or centre back.

respect his time but every day i pray his time is up. time for us to demand better certainly at CB next transfer window.

7.) 08 Dec 2019 17:55:51
Axe - agreed that it would be good to keep Bera around, being popular and a positive influence within the club, but as I said a couple of days ago I'd prefer he was encouraged to start along the coaching route here rather than continue within the playing squad. This would free up a spot for Struijk (or Casey after yesterday's run out) - or, if Bielsa feels necessary, for another experienced head who is better suited than Bera to providing CB cover.

Very good square ball article. To summarise we are using Eddie and Bamford the wrong way around. We dominate most games for 70 minutes. That is when you need Eddie on to put away the multitude of chances we invariably create. Last 20 we tire (all goals conceded in last 20 minutes this year) . That is when you bring Bamford on to work hard, be physical, hold it up, work back and link with the midfield. Think it is spot on. Got to be a try at least. Current approach is not working (at home for sure) .

Animal

1.) 23 Sep 2019 18:33:35
What i have been saying, nonsense not to.

2.) 23 Sep 2019 19:55:44
Animal Spot on except Paddy puts in a shift and would surely prove very useful for Eddie. The other reason I prefer two up front at home is because then we literally would have goals on our mind. We don't have them on our mind right now when we're apparently content playing pretty tippy tappy hoping Paddy on his lonesome might score. Goals are infectious and breed confidence. Team deserves to be rewarded. Play Eddie and Paddy. Find a way.

3.) 23 Sep 2019 20:35:09
It’s a very logical piece. My only reservation is the defensive benefit Bamford brings, but that is, in all honesty, without seeing enough of Eddie to make a judgement. got to say, I’m torn on this one, but at the same time, recognise that something needs to change. Thank heck my coaching career never came to this level!

4.) 23 Sep 2019 23:48:04
Ok George - for home matches at least - how about -

Casilla
Dallas
White
Cooper
Douglas
Phillips
Hernandez
Klich
Nketiah
Bamford
Costa

with Roberts on the bench to replace a flagging Pablo (when it happens) and Bogusz to replace Klich - and Alioski to replace whoever he is needed to replace?

5.) 24 Sep 2019 00:56:38
MP That would be my line up too but I believe Roberts is better replacing Paddy. Shacks for Pablo and Bogusz for Klich. I also think Gotts is very close now and Edmondson must take a spot on the bench instead of Harrison who I'd drop altogether. My bench would be Meslier Berardi Gotts Shackleton Bogusz Edmondson Roberts. Outside of the 18 vying to get in would be Ayling Davis McCalmont Forshaw Harrison Clarke and McKinstry.

6.) 24 Sep 2019 07:58:55
You’ve forgotten Forshaw I think. Think I would sacrifice pablo or Klich for Forshaw, probably Klich, to give a bit more stability. When Bielsa went 2 up before he opted for only one winger on the left I think on the basis that Dallas is pretty much a right winger anyway so you can play 2 central, pablo/ Klich can float and Dallas can bomb down the right?

7.) 24 Sep 2019 08:09:16
I was never the most gifted footballer, there were lots of more technically better players and some with more pace, but I knew the areas to get into and how to put the ball in the net. Sadly this was not me but Gary Lineker. he didn't score many twenty five yarders but give him a sniff of a chance in and around the area.

This player had belief in himself and his positional sense, something a good striker has. To me Bamford will score the occasional good goal but he isn't a proper forward, and what the last few seasons has shown is that the top teams that go up from this league have a good striker.

8.) 24 Sep 2019 09:35:45
George, fair point re Roberts/ Bamford. I’m not sure re Roberts finishing ability but he can clearly cope with the physical stuff - he gets up and he doesn't moan or let his head drop etc. - and he can certainly pick out a pass. He and Nketiah would be an interesting partnership. Pablo is still our most creative but there will have to be alternatives through the season - and Shackleton is a lovely, energetic and direct footballer.

9.) 24 Sep 2019 10:53:50
Mezzer, that’s a good point. Lineker was immense at that, as was a certain Mr Lee Chapman. Bamford is a very, very talented footballer who just hasn’t found his natural position. Number 9 and chief goal poacher, is not it. As others have suggested, I think he could do a job as a dropped off 10. He may yet show his value.

10.) 24 Sep 2019 17:19:12
lee champman would die a slow death in the current team. i reckon he would sturrgle to get ten goals. and that's not me knocking champan the man was an all time great.

11.) 24 Sep 2019 20:43:14
Didn’t even mention Chappy in this team, just that he was a natural goal scorer while he was playing. As was Lineker. Really don’t get what you’re on about Berm. Again.

17 Aug 2019 20:01:30
Said it a week ago and going to say it again. If Hernandez if having an off day but we are still 2-0 up why not take him off and rest him we know he can’t last a full season and would give Bogusz or Nketiah a chance to get up to speed. Going to come back and bite our a***s later in the season. Bielsa is god and awesome to be top but jeez I wish he could use his subs more effectively.

Animal

1.) 17 Aug 2019 20:30:07
He won’t play the cup games and Costa coming on for Klich changes his position. To be fair it’s still early in the season and he’s still finding his consistency.

2.) 18 Aug 2019 11:49:31
we all know Mb he don't like subs and don't mix things about have to take the good with the bad.

last year he didn't use shacks enough this year i think it will be bogatuz but if he gets the win then so be it.

DIsagree we are not creating chances. Look at how many great chances Bamford has missed and tell me Eddie wouldn’t have bagged a fair few of them. That’s what frustrates the he’ll out of me. Disagree on the Pontus thing - think white is a far superior player so don’t see how you can say letting Pontus go without replacing him is an issue we have replaced him with an upgrade. Berardi v struik another matter (an a another e ample of misplaced loyalty) .

Thought the one player he really wanted (me too) was a goalie and he got him? Bielsa seemed at pains to say Orta brought him James and he approved of aortas choice, rather than it being Bielsa’s man? Don’t get the sense that Bielsa feels let down, which is always my worry because he might walk away then. Never quite got why winger was the priority. Thought No10 was most important to enable Hernandez to go back wide. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Got to agree. Got down really well for a big lad, looked composed and even better than Casilla with his feet. I'm not particularly worried about a possible Kiko ban any more.
