Morning Amigos,
Given that most are saying walk away for JSL due to the fee.
I’d pose the question of who would you want to sign? For that budget of £33m +6m in addition to ons?

Offer 15-20 mill for any of the championship performers ( not Bamford lol ) . Better gamble that than basically 40 mil. Look at strikers other prem teams are looking at. He can’t be that good.

Cover at the back and a new keeper.
We have the talent to score one or two without DCL, but we're still conceding.

Clarke? Whittaker? Armstrong? 15-20 mill?
My choice would be Whittaker.

Nobody wanted DCL or Nmecha at Leeds either. I'd take JSL as we do create chances, but like I said before, not at £40m. I very much doubt we will go near that price, or that any of the figures being quoted are anything more than usual crappy speculation in the media.

I agree with Brighty apart from the bit that we won’t pay near the asking price. Probably get a deal done for not much more than the 33 million offered upfront but with more favourable add ons for Wolves.
Most likely Leeds would prefer a loan to buy obligation if we stay up? I certainly would!

Tammy Abraham would have been a cracking alternative.

Anything over 25 is too much. We all know this. I want a striker more than most but not at any cost. Armstrong and cb and maybe lwb if we can’t get him at 25. Armstrong score as many as him. So what if not right position. Overload parts of formation. Confuse opponents. Better than wasting money.

Can I ask why does it matter to you guys if we spend £40m on Jsl or £20m on a champ striker? Why are we so protective over what the owners spend or not?
26 Jan 2026 14:07:06
Don’t know much about how the system works regarding the data stats we are using to pick players, tammy was mentioned but seems to have too much interest elsewhere.
JSL will be closer to €18 million (£15mil) if Leeds get their own way plus add ons but wolves are still wanting close to €35 million Euros (£30mil)

We’ll soon find out if the club have the extra cash and also whether Strand Larsen is worthy enough number 9 to pay over the odds for him.
Although I feel his value is overpriced, he did score 14 goals for a flailing Wolves last season.
I watched the game between Man city and Wolves and although Wolves have improved somewhat with Edwards, you could see Strand Larsen received very little decent supply.
A strikers effectiveness is only as good as the players around him.
Daniel Farke has a very good history working with strikers, if he thinks he’s got the potential to succeed at Leeds Utd then the club should do everything within its power to bring the player in.

I don't see the point in spending say £20M on one of the current Champo top scorers. Top scorer last season was Piroe, and I don't see any of the current crop that are any better. I could consider taking a punt on Morgan Whittaker, bit he's more a winger or AM than an out and out striker. Yes, £35-40M for JSL seems expensive, but that's how much potentially regular goalscorers cost these days.
Of the current PL top scorers, only 2 are on track to get 20+ for the season (Haaland and Thiago) , and some who cost much more than £40M are not even close - Ekitike 8, Mbuemo 8, Woltemade 7 at the halfway point. We need to speculate to accumulate and if that is how much we need to spend then so be it, just as long as we don't risk a points deduction for running foul of the PSR rules.

Let's not forget all these deals are amortised so a £40 million transfer fee will almost certainly be written in the accounts as £8 million per year for 5 years so go for it I say and I reckon Larsen with decent service will soon repay Leeds faith in him.

Mick Maignan keeper was going to Chelsea if still available,
Julian Brandt
Or
Harry Wilson.
