Having just wasted valuable life moments reading Sly Spurts' report on the oh so angelic Djed Spence, potentially becoming the first "openly" Muslim man to play for England, I wondered if media spin will actually cause the end of the world as we know it!?
First, I don't give a flying eff at a rolling donut what religion he is, as long as he plays well, with pride, and sets a positive example for youngsters.
Second. Does this terminology suggest that "closet" Muslims have played for England?
Third, where was his God's influence when he failed to turn up for charitable community work, where was the hard work ethic when he was late for training and the fight when he was challenged to improve his attitude and effort?
Laughable to the point of wretching.
Finally! What's more boring? The international break, or the WSL transfer deadline dominating football news?

I remember a time when politics were kept out of sports, and gaming, and most entertainment.
Ah, those were the days.

Unfortunately and I don’t mean any offense it’s only my opinion but most religious people are not in touch with reality. They do a lot of good sometimes. Also start a lot of wars sometimes. Just don’t seem to understand living in harmony.
Think AI will end the world personally.
Not sure if this will be posted.

Absolutely correct Bright me old mukka. The trouble is society these days like to pigeon hole people. It's a totally multi cultural multi religion society these days and it's right that we respect each. But simply put there are good bad and indifferent in each culture and creed. I believe its more of a personal and individual thing. It's about that individual regardless. This is why I appreciate Gautama. His mantra is to strive for the good in life, it's not a religion, more a way to live a better life.

I don't give a stuff about any religion, but care even less about the WSL. From my (admittedly limited) observations of the WSL the champions (whoever they are) would struggle to survive in League 1 of the EFL.

Aus - I think you’ll find most people who are truly religious would disagree with you re people’s perception of reality. And where wars are concerned, religion has on many occasions been used as a badge of convenience for what extreme nationalism and/ or empire building etc. As a practicing Christian, I can advise you that no-one who truly believes in and adheres to the central tenets of the faith could genuinely justify starting a war for ‘religious’ reasons, and I am sure that adherents of many other faiths would inform you likewise of their own religion. And yes, I and the vast majority of my religious friends, of various faiths, are very much in touch with reality. No offence taken though.

One thing I try not to do is to discuss religion period, as It does create sensitivity especially to someone of a religious persuasion. The problem with some people of a religious persuasion, that sensitivity can escalate into extremism which has been used in the name of the said religion to create harm to others and even war.
The one thing I do feel though is that it should be no where near sport, as it has shown in history like politics it only creates problems and division.

Yup. ordinarily religion is a no go zone for me too. Didn't get why Sly used it as the basis of a report for an effin' slime bag!
