3.) 16 Jan 2020 19:25:38

{Ed025's Note - love it BW..

4.) 16 Jan 2020 20:24:40
Lampard at Chelsea should also be charged.

5.) 16 Jan 2020 20:26:15
Now let’s see what the punishment is, they might make them play all there under 23 games behind closed doors.

6.) 16 Jan 2020 20:27:25
Derby FFP charges # Karma # Joy

NOW can that very nice EFL do the same for Brentford Forest, Fulham and oh yes the Baggies too😊😊

# promotion sorted 😊.

Guys, I stopped following the site for a while as too many on here moan about ANYTHING.

Of course everyone's view is valid, but just occasionally some people need to calm down the moaning.

FFP is a real thing, and we are hampered by it. Derby have now come out and said they are going to look to develop youth rather than buy players in, this is as buying stadiums etc only gives you a bit of grace, not a complete circumvent, what we are doing, I. E. Running a small squad and building a strong foundation is better in the long run in my view.

Add that we are top of the league and looking the best side in the league to boot and I think we have more to cheer than moan.

Some of you need to check your August predictions (in the archive of this thread) and realise that moaning is cheap (I get the irony of this moaning post btw) !

But yes, a back up to Bam Bam on loan would be nice, as for the defence, I'm happy. Possession of the ball is proving a good way to defend in my eyes.

1.) 05 Jan 2020 14:02:54
If a moan is supported by the reasoning behind it, then there should be no issue.

2.) 05 Jan 2020 14:05:26
That being said, a moan is only considered a moan from a particular point of view.

3.) 05 Jan 2020 16:13:39
Was that a moan about moaners,

4.) 05 Jan 2020 16:33:32
So would you like to explain what we can and can’t do under FFP using specifics Shutt? Just so we know we have got it?

5.) 06 Jan 2020 11:08:27
more than we have been doing Alf.

Yesterday I wasn't all despair.

Today I'm not getting carried away.

I think we've got a chance though, we have an decent squad and money to improve if needed.

It always amazes me that all fans want these days is new players, no matter what players you already have. Yes improving is important, but new players do not always equal improving.

My mate is a NUFC fan and I always laugh at him because they are so bad for it.

Guardiola and Pochetino are always named checked as Bub's students, so I think we can learn how Bub will approach this off season, as neither of them are the 'buy 8 new players in the summer' type managers and I don't expect Bub to be too.

I personally think maybe a loan CB, depending on how Bub values the U23s we have then we're done for the summer, and then we'll use January as required.

I know, I know, I am the anti christ of you Bermo, and trust me I'm not saying I'm right and you're wrong, time will tell us that, but I live in hope.

With on that sentiment Shutty.

2.) 16 Jul 2019 06:58:07
You may have a very valid point . Why can’t we work with what we have and bring the younger players though and coach them up . We may have better players already there than what we can bring in .

3.) 16 Jul 2019 07:18:11
Shutt completely agree, everyone thinks we need to spend millions to improve our team! Trouble is the right players have to be available, they have to settle in immediately, very unlikely and cost millions to buy! The player who gets the most stick at the moment is Bamford. He has probably been our most expensive signing recently, but struggled to settle, mainly through injury, in his first season. I’m hoping for better from him and Harrison and Casillas this season but I don’t think throwing big money at players is the answer.

4.) 16 Jul 2019 08:12:30
Good posts guys, we’ve got some young talent out with the guys in Australia and more who will be playing with other first teamers this week. Hopefully they can impress and earn more first team squad time. i'm keen to see Pascal and White have a game together at CBS to see how close they both are.

5.) 16 Jul 2019 08:25:02
Cant understand the reasoning there. A centre back and we are done. Come on guys. If that's the case where do the goals come from. Last season goals or lack of was our downfall creating chance after chance and not converting was our biggest problem. That has not been addressed a CB great but give me a goal scorer. We can't be dependent on Roofe and bamford.

6.) 16 Jul 2019 08:59:33
Shutt - also agree with your sentiments. I also agree that CB is the one spot we really need an addition. I'd not be averse to bringing in an experienced player in the Cahill mould, if they came in on the basis that starts would not be guaranteed and that they would mentor White and Strujik plus others coming through the academy - perhaps being supported in starting/ working through their coaching badges in lieu of being paid in excess of our current wage structure.

7.) 16 Jul 2019 09:38:01
@wex, I think we have plenty of goals in Bambam, KR, Costa, Harrison, Pablo, Klitch, Roberts and JC.

We know just from watching the York game that Bambam isn't going to goal hang he will link with the midfield and expect runners, both in the centre and out wide to go past him and create a threat. So horses for course means we won't buy a 6 yard box striker.

But as I say, I could be wrong, time will tell.

8.) 16 Jul 2019 09:56:01
Costa is the only difference there and our chance to goal ratio waour downfall last season.

9.) 16 Jul 2019 10:24:48
I know, but this is a new year and I feel we will benefit from sticking, rather than risking another new player arriving and not fitting in.

I understand you disagree.

10.) 16 Jul 2019 10:26:14
We are a class act in a division of very equal teams but very diverse finances

We have a head coach that prefers to develop young players and not always buy in ready made

It could come down to luck with injuries

Trust the u23s coming through.

11.) 16 Jul 2019 10:33:26
Despite his quest for wingers, Bielsa doesn't seem to want a traditional goal-hanging striker, but rather a front three that will interchange with each other and/ or feed runners from midfield/ wing-back positions.

As with all these things, some fans may prefer a different way and I guess we all thirsted for a plan B on occasion last season. Obviously Bielsa has used a goal-hanging striker previously - Llorente at Bilbao being a prime example, but perhaps he feels a fully match-fit Bambam could also fulfill that role if needed, and maybe that Edmondson will be able to step up soon.

All that said, if Bielsa sprang a surprise by bringing in another striker on loan from Prem, I would not be unhappy with that. Unfortunately can't see us competing for Gayle, and isn't case he's probably not the kind of character Bielsa would warm to. Abraham will want to stay at Chelsea or have Prem loan and The Fat One is (as others have said) very unlikely to do us any favours. If Klopp had not recently stated young Brewster had a significant role to play at Anfield this season, he might have been worth a gamble. The recent signing of Mujica suggests a permanent striker signing is very unlikely.

12.) 16 Jul 2019 13:18:20
Wex - cheer up, it's obvious Bielsa is still on the lookout for at least one further addition - hence his personal scouting the other night, and we've known for ages that he wanted two new players in the forward line, and that he made this clear to Radz and Orta during the negotiations over his contract for this season.

As you say, we have Costa, so it would seem another winger/ wide striker is still being looked for. As others have pointed out, a number of the U23s - including two new additions (in Mujica and McCarron) look like they could be ready to step up if needed by January if not before. I suspect there are a number of our rivals who will be looking at the ranks of in-house forward options we may soon have available with rather envious eyes.

Despite your previous protestations to the contrary, quite a lot of that is down to Orta and Radz, as are the recruitment and retention of both the excellent coach currently overseeing their U23 development and the world class coach willing to have confidence in them to step up to the first team.

13.) 16 Jul 2019 14:09:10
not sure why i was name dropped

i agree with your post completely it is about progression, i think aling will have a better season (although thought he was good last year)

i think douglas and bamford will have stronger seasons this year round injury premitting and same goes for the keeper who i think will show class this year.

it is not about lots of players it is about progression, costa great addition, i do worry about centre back with our best one going and it being a weak position last year with full backs playing there but one great centre back will do me perfectly

of course i would love to lose kp for a replacement but that is a judgement call

do i think we will go up not without a centreback as we need to adress last years fality but if we get one we could be in with a shout.

14.) 16 Jul 2019 15:12:50
My apologies Bermo.

15.) 16 Jul 2019 16:06:08
No need to apologise mate and can see why you would think I might disagree but I thought your post was spot on.

08 Jul 2019 20:58:30
Too much gloom guys.

Yes PJ looks to be on his way out, but that apart we ARE currently stronger than we were at the end of last season.

Of all the loan players we had last year the only one who got any real minutes has come back, the rest have gone. I'm happy with that.

We also have white and Costa come in too, and as I say that makes us stronger in my eyes.

So overall currently a stronger first team squad - anyone disagree?

I am in no doubt at all PJ will be replaced, as unlike a lot of people on here I see something building.

We were never going to keep all of last years team and then add 3 x 10 million pound players on top.

Bub will move players on as he sees fit, and I for one trust the set up, remember our manager, and u23 coach could both have left, but didn't, they must see hope and progression and that alone gives me hope.

Window shuts 7 Aug I believe, so yes let's keep the banter up, but please, not so much gloom.

ALAW.

Danum, footballers are people mate, you can't purposely infect them with something that kills 3% of people who get it, just to complete a football season.

Martyn G, I hear you. If we go up then the moaning will continue. 'we need to invest more', 'we're buying too many players'. It'll always be something.

When people can moan when we're top of the league with a 9 point cushion to 3rd place, and playing some of the best football I remember seeing at Leeds for MANY a season, they'll always find fault.

Me, I'm enjoying the journey, not fixating on the destination. I've certainly had worse seasons supporting Leeds.

I said it in the summer, and I'll say it again now, I'm happy with the squad size and make up.

Someone in to replace Eddie and I'm happy, if we don't get someone in I'll be anxious though.

Call me deluded but I like Leeds atm, can't lie. I accept other want more, and respect your views, but there you go. MOT.
