Bielsa looking like he's getting his man, took awhile but he must see big things in James.
25-30 mil the rumor, I personally would've liked a creative MF and striker in for those numbers but only my view.
I think James will be a great addition and will hopefully improve more under him,
I said a couple weeks ago that can see raphi playing more centrally and wonder if that's how James will be accommodated?
If we do purchase James, what would be your line ups if everyone fit?
Meslier
Ailing Llorente Koch Firpo
Phillips
James Raphi Klich Harrison
Bamford

Subs- klarson, Cooper, struijk, Dallas, Forshaw, Summerville, gerdhart, Rodrigo

Would like to see how Llorente and Koch can play together, raphi supporting bamford as #10.
Answers on a postcard!

I think that team hits the nail on the head for me mshuter, presuming Raph can play no.10. If not maybe Harrison could do a job there. Perhaps in time Rodrigo could be introduced up top as he looked great there last season.

2.) 31 Aug 2021 08:37:05
Personally I don’t rate Koch (cue the innuendos) , so would plump for a centre back pairing of Llorente and Struijk. I would also select Dallas over Klich in CM all day long.

Meslier
Ayling Llorente Struijk Firpo
Phillips
James Raphinha Dallas Harrison
Bamford.

3.) 31 Aug 2021 12:29:06
Hmm yes forgot about Struick. Since one of Koch or Llorente are normally injured I'm sure Pascwl will still get plenty of game time.

2 weeks till season, coming fast and we not ready yet on last 2 games.
The pitch was atrocious and didn't help the match and worries about injuries.
Again a few positives, meslier seems to be coming for more balls, which will help defense. Well taken penalty.
Think ramus, Roca and Gyabi of the new players look very good and for 25mil, good investment.
Of originals, think Koch, struijk, Harrison, Gelhardt and Greenwood doing some good work.
Seems like Davis not done enough for JM, why not play him, ridiculous and guess that means a new LB coming (needed) , still think worth going for Taylor and Cornet.
I know still time till window closes but this CDK thing is frustrating, he doesn't want Leeds, so move on asap. He also not a striker and think if get him, need another #9 still.
Now the negatives, Llorente is a liability, we should have sold him, prefer Koch/ struijk on what I've seen.
Rodrigo is awful, poor touch, slow and then gets through and drags ball wide, got to score that and a quality forward would.
Still not impressed with Aronsson, big cash and average so far.
We need 4 more and only reinvested the money we got for our top 2 players, so get your cash out radz, as thi can still be a great window. So far an ok window with a few decent incomings but my take another 50-80 mil.
Winger- Gakpo / cornet,
LB, creative MF and striker.

MS - it is only the pro-AC MiIan media in Italy that has said CDK absolutely does not want Leeds. Orta has apparently talked about wage terms with his agent. If it was an absolute no, the agent wouldn’t have bothered with such conversation.
CDK has said previously that he viewed the Prem as the best league for him to challenge himself. It would seem that CDK is wanting to move on from Brugge, having already achieved as much as he is likely to with that club. Obviously most quality players in that position would have a preference to play in the Champions League if that is an option, but if Brugge do stay firm with their valuation - and they might do so as their need for money is greater than ours - AC wouldn’t be an option, and CDK may decide he will come to us, to take on the challenge of playing in the Prem, and further develop his game. He would apparently earn more with us, as it appears AC are only offering €41k (£35k) a week - which would seemingly make him one of their lowest paid first teamers - whereas he would likely become one of our higher earners, maybe on around twice that amount.

CDK was playing at CF for Brugge most of last season (and more so in that position than any other role during his career to date) , so could certainly do so for us, though perfectly capable of playing on either wing, CAM or even CM.

2.) 23 Jul 2022 08:16:33
There were many players out on free and we never went for any can’t believe that seem we are only looking outside of the uk big gamble should be a mix let’s hope they have it right, as above Aronsson has a lot to do. come on boy two weeks to go.

3.) 23 Jul 2022 09:38:05
Of course we aren't ready. We haven't finished pre season yet. Teams don't gel overnight we have to give it a bit more time. Take a chill ?.

4.) 23 Jul 2022 10:13:41
Well said Alf! I seem to recall having a not all that good pre season regularly Under Wilko, and even starting the season badly in our 1st season up. (2-5 to Newcastle I think? ) , and went on to finish 4th. I’ve never been too bothered with either performances or results in pre season. They mean nowt! Redchester gubbed Scouse by 4! Are they going to win the league? Nah, not while I still have a hole in my arse!

18 Jul 2022 00:51:41
Again thought Roca looks decent, bit more match fitness and could be a fantastic buy.
Also thought Adams and rasmus had good minutes and what a few saves from meslier.
I know it's early days but very concerned about creativity and scoring, bamford looks very behind in fitness and as stated numerous times, not a great finisher.
We look too narrow and attack's keep breaking down, essential we invest in a goal scorer otherwise think we in trouble.
Need that creative player to link play too, sure we have a time till window closes but KO only 3 weeks away.
With sale of Kp and raphi, they're around nil spend, need at least 3
LB, creative MF and striker.

1.) 18 Jul 2022 09:06:27
Yep you are preaching to. tne converted re what is needed and it is approaching some urgency.

As things stand tme current squad is a bottom 3 to 4 club there are very few goals in it.

2.) 18 Jul 2022 11:29:12
What have you been told about negativity Baz! Now go and sit down and write 500 lines saying… I must trust Radz and Victor to bring in the right players and I must stop talking about how bad we will be this season! ??.

3.) 18 Jul 2022 11:34:59
Baz how do come to that assessment with only a couple of pre season games and one where we scored 6 goals and comparing us with perhaps the likes of Southampton, Everton etc who haven’t invested as much as we have so far in the transfer window.

4.) 18 Jul 2022 11:39:34
Lol Woody but this is how it is as things stand imho.
And my patience, trust and confidence in tne dynamic duo is wearing thin.

5.) 18 Jul 2022 11:43:34
We could win 15 games 1 v 0, and draw 5 0 v 0, 50 points mid table safety easily achieved, by only scoring 15 goals ???.

6.) 18 Jul 2022 11:49:04
You are off your head Baz if you think that we're going to be a bottom 3-4 team. We've got a lot more depth this season than last. Even losing KP and Raph the players we've brought in have improved 1st team depth and overall squad depth. Have a word with yaself.

We've still got time to buy a striker, too. And I expect we will. I'd rather we take some time and get it right than rush buying for the sake of just getting someone in. Personally I'd wait until window is done before complaining again pal.

7.) 18 Jul 2022 11:53:33
OP not convinced by our squad as it stands, Southampton and Everton have better

Richie re your 15 goal mid table nonsense . its never happened before in previous EPL seasons. teams that score less than 35 goals tend to be R.

8.) 18 Jul 2022 12:00:37
So Dill the Oracle lol just for record where are you predicting Leeds finish and which teams will definitely finish belpw Leeds?

Should be interesting

Let's hope you are right about signing a quality striker but in my opinion we need two new strikers or at least one and a goalscoring attacking midfielder.

9.) 18 Jul 2022 12:10:08
What everyone except Baz said.

10.) 18 Jul 2022 12:27:38
I think we'll do better than last season given what I mentioned above. Plenty of teams haven't invested much if at all this window, some even losing players without buying well. Taking that into account I think we'll survive fairly comfortably. But even without looking at other teams around us, we look more defensively assured, both tactically and in terms of player performance and I am confident we will add a quality striker this window, only adding another positive signing to our first team squad and overall squad depth.

Predicting bottom 3-4 is just wild all things considered. We're in a superior place than we were this time last season and can only see us getting better and pushing on with extra signings and more responsible tactics.

11.) 18 Jul 2022 13:08:28
Ok Dill so it seems you are suggesting Leeds finish mid table

So can I assume that you're predicting that Leeds are finishing above the 3 promoted teams, Brentford, Palace, Everton, Southsmpton? Wolves, Brighton? Leicester even?

Georgey so like Richie are you hypothesising that Lèeds could attain 20 clean sheets this season? ?.

12.) 18 Jul 2022 13:28:20
Baz are you sure about Everton having a better squad than us. They’ve just sold probably their best player and goal scorer in Richalison and they’ve only brought in one free transfer that being Tarkowski the thug. DKL has mental health issues and the glue that held Everton together in Duncan Ferguson has left.
From where I’m standing they are in a far worse situation than us, they also know they can’t spend any money due to FFP.
Let’s not forget Fat Frank also who will be sacked before Christmas.

13.) 18 Jul 2022 14:08:02
Not really a fan of picking a specific number Baz, but I do think 12th or 13th is attainable given our squad. And yes, I expect all three promoted clubs to finish below us, plus Brentford, Palace, Everton, Southampton and potentially one other club.

I am definitely positive about our chances the coming season.

14.) 18 Jul 2022 14:13:54
OP as I said ' as things stand ' I don't rate our squad to create and score enough goals.

Everton squad is currently better than Leeds.

A few deluded posters on here.

15.) 18 Jul 2022 14:49:35
Baz For right now, I have our beloved coming in at 15th but with correct further additions I can see that improving into the 10th to 12th range.

16.) 18 Jul 2022 15:15:33
Correct Baz, you are deluded thinking we will finish bottom 3-4 ?.

17.) 18 Jul 2022 15:25:14
Tbh I think even with how bad our injuries were last season, we could've still taken a few more points and were unlucky to do so in some games.

Look at it this way, our first team isn't decimated by injuries this season, we've added depth and we are far more resolute defensively with our tactics. We only need 8-10 points more than last seasons tally to finish towards mid table.

I don't see how that isn't attainable, given the reasons mentioned above. Add another striker into the mix and we can be leaps and bounds above what we achieved last season.

18.) 18 Jul 2022 15:28:20
My 15 1 0 was posted in jest, but you take that how it is when actually its a fact but jesting yes it wouldn't happen. Similar to the gooners who go on about the unbeatables when actually you could go a season unbeaten and be relegated
5 teams worse then us, yes IMO we should be aiming for the 11 -15 bracket,
Althrough our title winning season baz posted negative, last season it was negative and frankly i respect your opinion but the negativity bores me, we haven't kicked a ball in anger yet, so take a chill pill and let's ride the roller coaster that is leeds. If after 10 games we are struggling then come on with the negativity. Ill many may well agree.
I truly hope its reverse psychology, think the worse then if the worse happens your not dejected.
MOT.

19.) 18 Jul 2022 15:30:53
Agreed Dilli.

20.) 18 Jul 2022 15:46:26
Lol Dill ? but I made this prediction last season too and was lambasted for it . but I was proved correct as usual ?.

21.) 18 Jul 2022 15:58:54
Baz No lambast from me.

22.) 18 Jul 2022 16:22:33
Richie likewise I respect your opinion too sorry you consider it negative but
I call it REALISM as indeed what I stated would happen last season indeed happened.

Let's certainly hope for a good season though which will be far, fat more likely when/ if those CFs CAM. and LB are signed.

Dill ; you make some decent points.

23.) 18 Jul 2022 17:34:39
Yes Baz you did but you didn’t predict all our injuries, mainly long term to key players, We had a decimated squad and we still weren’t relegated which I believe you did predict. Too easy to sit on your condemnations without taking any consideration.
We probably will finish the season in the lower half but no where near relegation zone or even in it which I’m sure you would prefer. There’s no satisfying some fans, they’ve bought players which the fans demanded, so what’s the problem?
Perhaps you would prefer we break the FFP rules or buy elite players whose salaries we can’t afford.
I guess some people just want to see the bad in everything. !

24.) 18 Jul 2022 18:00:05
Baz, last year you stated lots of things including that Burnley definitely would t be relegated and would finish above Everton and Leeds! Hope you didn’t bet your house on it.

Of course we’re a work in progress and I’m keen to see how he stops this narrow style being beaten by overpowering us out on the wings with quick breaks. But I like what we’ve done so far. Managing the Bielsa transition and the loss of KP and Raph is hard but I’ve thing we’ve handled it well. We’ll play some good football, we’ll buy a striker, possibly a left back but not really bothered about a back up goalie.
The the Dane is going to become a legend, Roca revived, The Americans will deliver and we won’t be in the relegation fight.

25.) 18 Jul 2022 18:28:19
Actually Top 6 OP, I specifically stated at the end of the summer window that Leeds would be in deep trouble especially with key injuries to key players with no cover,

Of course I didn't foresee Bamford 5 injuries being out for nearly whole season but tbe CF recruitment I was banging on about that we should have bought would have helped immensely in this regard.

26.) 18 Jul 2022 18:32:28
Spanish I was very nearly right about Burnley that went on a storming run from nowhere.

Be honest if the Saudi barcodes had turned up for the beach final day of season Leeds would be down instead of Burnley.

As for Everton and Fat Frank he got very lucky with his pals of Chelski gifting them 3 points and crucially Pickford hitting top form ; but even then they were only marginally safe.

27.) 18 Jul 2022 19:23:14
Guess we can all posit our own opinions and reasonings why expectations are so different from others, but personally I prefer the old half cup full method and remain positive about our new season until there's reasons to become negative.

So far it's all looking good and I have faith in our squad this coming season. As Richie mentions, if 10 games in we have reasons to complain then I think that's fair start holding people, be it coach, board or players accountable. Atm I don't think it's fair or right to complain considering how things are presently.

We are moving in the right direction.

14 Jul 2022 13:45:44
Lots of changes throughout game and hard then to get a rhythm, but good to see new players.
Think we now overloaded in MF and unsure what will be starting 11 come August but more positive with additions.
Some standouts for me, liked both drahmeh and kristiansen at RB
Also impressed by Roca, not match fit but looks very good, a bit like KP. He dropped constantly to help defense and always wanted the ball, played some good long range passes like Kp.
Thought Gyabi had a good run, he is a big lad but skillful and could see him and Roca make a good partnership.
Others that played well, Summerville, Luis and Gray and feel we have makings of a decent squad, not impressed with Harrison at LB and still unsure about aronson.
Still feel we need a LB ( cornet) and definitely a quality striker, I know bamford lacking fitness but imo not good enough to be our main striker
Bring on Villa, i will be there for the game
MOT.

1.) 14 Jul 2022 14:14:14
A good summary that, in my eyes! Enjoy the Villa game!

14 Jul 2022 00:39:30
Getting max cornet is a no brainer for me. Can cover LB and not too bad in front of goal.

Mshuter

1.) 14 Jul 2022 04:56:30
Agree. They should sign him today. No delay. Pay the money. Snooze and we lose.

2.) 14 Jul 2022 06:40:17
We should have signed him last summer when we first had the chance.

3.) 14 Jul 2022 10:08:14
I think looking at our left back options and firpo and Dallas missing start of season Cornet would be a good option for us .

4.) 14 Jul 2022 10:20:52
Cornet would be a good purchase. He took to the league effortlessly last season, and as mentioned, very capable of playing in multiple positions. Doubt he wants to play Championship football too given he wanted to go back to his "parent" club, thinking he was loaned to Burnley and not sold. Doh.

5.) 14 Jul 2022 11:31:13
All of the above!

10 Jul 2022 01:06:22
Firpo injury prone, sounds like he had his best game but now not coming to Australia, be good to see if Davis can step up and this tour will tell.
Can't believe this Barca/ raphi debarkle, now getting annoying, they want to pay less and delay payments?
Would prefer he goes abroad but now just sell to Chelsea and try incorporate either Pulasic or Broja in the deal.
I'm worried about lack of quality striker, as said before (imo) , bamford not good enough to be main man, misses too many chances. Really think we just 2-3 players away from a great squad, for me, still need a experienced back up GK, LB and striker.

Mshuter

1.) 10 Jul 2022 08:05:57
Firpo also squared up prone.

2.) 10 Jul 2022 09:16:09
Supposedly Rapha and Dico have given broka a 48 deadline to agree a deal or he will go to Chelsea. Make or break week.
