Classof92 has written an article entitled, Leeds United In The English Premier League

Tactically adept . hmmmm.
06 May 2025 12:56:55
Well written class, I fully agree
As for tactically adept if 100 points and most goals from subs isn’t a clue baz then I don’t know what is?

Having the ‘Team tactically adept’ Baz, but as Berm rightly states, you do not reach 100 points and score so many goals, and totally demolish a play off rival without being tactically proficient.
I believe Farkey successfully changed our playing style from the previous season, with the more patient build up, more width (no more Rutter to play through) and integrated our full backs into our attacking threat, with an increased goals return brilliantly.
Like others, I certainly used to bemoan the ‘perceived’ reluctance to utilise substitutes sooner, until I realised nearly every single game, his decisions turned out to be the right ones, and achieved the win, and my feelings were based upon my emotions and anxiety just watching, he has to work on a far higher level than just emotions, as he has the complete picture.
There’s only one subject where I disagreed with Farkey, with our young keeper, but he still fixed it even if, ideally, I would have wished it sooner but he still achieved/ exceeded his/ our objectives.

If Farkey gets your EPL 8th position prediction next season I may be persuaded.
In the meantime coaches like Russell Martin fgs have his number 3 times.

Class re ' demolish a playoff rival' . Leeds team and squad far far far beyter in quality than fairly woeful Bristol City .
Leeds, Burnley and Sheff Utd had best teams and squads. it was such an easy prediction they would finish top 3 wayyy ahead of the mediocre to awful other teams in Champo.
06 May 2025 15:06:28
But you are spot on Class re Farkey and Mes .
A major concern of keeping Farkey is his deluded backing of Mes .

great article class - thank you. I agree its unlikely we will sign many superstars and will likely surprise with relatively unknown signings who will be brought in due to the data rather than anything else but like Rothwell and AO should fit the mould.

Wow Baz, you really are bitter. You can’t allow yourself to accept people’s argument and change your mind, even when the cold hard facts are smacking you in the face really really hard (unless it’s about what position Leeds will finish in! )
Prediction was easy? I believe your first prediction was about 15th, yet you keep saying the Champo is mediocre!
100 points, goals etc etc etc… who could have done better?
Russell Martin ????????????????????????????????????????????????? I could go on …
Give praise where it is due.

Great article Class; agree with it.
There has been a lot of development over the two seasons and I think Farke really changed it up for his second season. Most complaints (around here at least) last season were:
- we only played one way (over reliant on Summerville)
- not enough goal scorers
- poor set piece defending
- give up a lot of chances
- very very poor shot conversion
- inability to beat the low block
Well, I would argue everyone of those issues were dealt with backed up by stats.
Most goals, 10 players scoring 5 up more goals, least shots against, least set piece goals conceded (aside from Burnley) .
I can’t find our shot conversion rate, but again, we scored more goals this season.
…. and in response to Baz “best squad” argument, well it became the best squad, but you weren’t saying that at the start of the season when the club was doing everything on the “cheap. ” Even so, this squad was not “as good” as last season’s cheat code attack and certainly not as expensive . We spent next to nothing on transfers this season, less than most of our rivals. We would probably get 3 x that if we sold those players now.

Well Ani, as well as most goals scored……
We were top on expected goals with an XG 90.6!
Next highest in the league, Coventry 70.3
We were top on Shots on target 5.7 per match
Next Boro at 4.7
We were top in big chances created at 151
Coventry second with 121
Leeds also top in most touches in oppositions box, corners gained, % possession per game and overall match day score ratings.
Individual players surprisingly Largie was top for most shots taken over 90 mins and most shots on target over 90 mins in the division.
And multiple other top ratings for goals/ assists for Leeds players.
Burnley top in only two, most clean sheets and least goals conceded, Parker manager of the year my €$%#.

Great stuff class…. be interesting to see last season v this season with the same stats to show the doubters how the team has evolved.
