Great to get the winner against a horrible side who did their best to disrupt our play and worked mostly.
well done Firpo, better game and nice assist, DJ scores again.
One week of window and very underwhelmed so far, all out goings.
Starting to think no one will be brought in and be a huge mistake and will bite us, will see and judge 49ers next monday.
we need a RB and imo still need that creative MF and a striker.
Rutter was poor but haven't got anyone else and then when Piroe came on, he went deep again and rutter up top which isn't working.
I know Bamford has scored 3 but he is not good enough and need more competition and quality.
i know i sound like a broken record but very concerned as need to be walking over these teams at home and only just got over the line.
Looking like playoffs and that is a huge lottery and we never get lucky.
If we don't get promoted then tough times ahead as quite a few of our quality players will leave and can't blame them.

I'd always expect loans to be done late in window.

Agree with much of that re :

- not smashing these teams,
- possible no recruitment concerns (esp a cam and fbs)
- quite dire consequences of failing to secure promotion this season

I was thoroughly expecting a fully focused RUTHLESS revenge like performance win by 4 or 5 goal ' top 2 signal of intent ' from the lads ( to make amends for the limp, lame away defeat to Preston) .

The early concession derailed that. If Leeds hadnt conceded
then DJ 6th min goal may have led to a 4 or 5 goal demolition . but they stalled

The bottom line : far too many times LUFC have conceded ( lame, soft, careless ) early goals.

. sort it DF and the lads.

Melbourne I believe we shall sign Benson on loan in the next 48 hours and soon after that will see Willy depart for ⚒️. Then following week the full backs arrive. Just my opinion.

yes Baz, their goal derailed us, so i guess a great win.

G- is this benson any good, i’d prefer a CMF over another winger and i hope a RB arrives too.

Could be right George although Willy is injured at the moment which could throw a spanner in.
Read benson an upgrade on Dj. Oops.
Hope we get right back at least. Another centre back. Prob need back up for firpo too ?.

Agree with quite a lot Mel, but Rutter was not poor, but his finishing was (should have scored 2 imo - header and near post chance) . He busted a gut again yesterday and played in some incisive, progressive passes which created chances as well as some strong hold up play. I thought he shielded the ball well from defenders, looked strong, rolling defenders and probably should have had more free kicks given his way, were it not for poor officiating.

Would still like us to explore Ryan Hardie as a CF option. Two very different goals for him Saturday. One where he ghosted his defender with some subtle movement in the box, with a lovely passed finish and another where he held the ball up, rolled two defenders and smashed it in the onion bag. A confident finisher and someone who we could rely on finishing the multitude of chances we create.

Not too worried about things taking this long re; transfers in, as most EPL teams will wait until the last week once they know who they are keeping and who they are okay with letting go. There's a domino effect in play with trying to loan/ buy fringe EPL players. I have faith I Hammond bringing in a RB and a LB. He has a proven track record in the Jan window and we'd be naive to think he's just sitting on his hands.

What Dilli said above.
Rutter certainly not poor, but should have buried that header. Think he expected more of a challenge!
Defo need signings, and agree with all as to where, but Patrick is looking almost back to his best, DJ is scoring and assisting for fun, Cree is on fire, and there are still goals there from JP and Gio, plus a couple of others too.

The only thing great about that game was 3 points at final whistle

An absolute game of muck
You can't fault Preston for playing this way, play to whatever strength a team has

We could be playing till this afternoon and wouldn't have scored ourselves
It's really worrying that Farke struggles so bad against teams that play like this.

Agree Chris.
We miss so many chances too. We should be converting 3-4 more yesterday.
His plan b makes me laugh although it did work for the first time ever yesterday.
It’s infuriating how many lower placed sides undo us early.
At least it was 3 points.

22 Jan 2024 09:22:07
Tbh Chris, we created enough goal scoring chances to bury that game. The players didn't finish. I can't fault Farke for poor finishing on the pitch.

Not true though Chris . "Leeds did score themselves" through my main man. DJ.

He was very good yet again.

Ten goals nine assists thhs season

Everyone and their cats praising DJ . well everyone bar you lol.

I doubt the Gnonto to West Ham rumour is true.

I agree Dill; we make bucket loads of chances. Plan A works. finishing is the issue, not how we make chances.

22 Jan 2024 11:32:30
Yes Dan did score Baz ?, and was unlucky with chipped effort

My comment was aimed at drawn part of game

It was horrible watch, and again shows when we are bad we are woeful

Again the consistency issue reared it's head

We were very fortunate to take all 3 yesterday against a bad team

And as I was saying after last time we played them, better teams find a way

Well we couldn't yesterday, apart from a lucky pen .

15.) 22 Jan 2024
22 Jan 2024 11:50:57
Chris good to know your revised improved opinion re DJ

Conceding soft goals and relying on just 3 players to score are the issues

Cant agree with your tolerance of Preston anti football" style" of play Chris .

a stronger better ref in both games

and when playing against teams that aren't called Leeds United. Preston be having players sent off most definitely. appalling club.

16.) 22 Jan 2024
22 Jan 2024 13:23:39
It's not a tolerance Baz, but if you have no money, and very limited squad, then what else would you really expect a club in that situ to do?

Preston won't ever claim to be something their not ( Prem bound ) , so whatever gets you through is got. to be the mantra

Leeds shouldn't be relying on refs, the 10 outfield players are paid handsomely to overcome such hurdles and as I said earlier it took a very lucky pen to break the impasse yesterday.

22 Jan 2024 13:42:17
We found a way on at least six occasions, but just didn’t finish them. We were technically excellent in the second half, and imo tore them a new one, but again, didn’t finish the clear cut chances. I thought it was a tough, but very enjoyable, entertaining match! You can only beat the team infront of you, and we did!

18.) 22 Jan 2024
22 Jan 2024 14:07:52
I agree Brighty, but that 2nd half yesterday was awful , it showed we really do need a playmaker to unlock these games.

19.) 22 Jan 2024
22 Jan 2024 14:37:09
Agree totally about the need for a playmaker Chris. been banging on about that for a while.

20.) 22 Jan 2024
22 Jan 2024 15:18:37
Mel Benson good at this level.

21.) 22 Jan 2024
22 Jan 2024 15:25:54
What about the unlucky (obvious) penalty claim that Rutter got booked for? If you see the images he had studs down his shins. If that was given and we won 3-1 we wouldn’t be saying a lucky win.
I didn’t think it was a woeful second half at all, thought we came out of the traps and was the only team looking to win it. Good game to be at and the Guiness was on form.

22.) 22 Jan 2024
22 Jan 2024 17:46:33
I don’t think it’s a question of how much you are being paid that when opposition players rely only on hacking or pulling down superior attackers when they know they will be out paced and out skilled. Referees in the Championship are "not" judging a foul in the same way as the Premiership. I don’t know what an attacker can do when he breaks away then has his legs cynically taken from under him. Money won’t change that.

We do however and for some time miss far too many chances on goal, both Rutter and James missed decent scoring opportunities against Preston and there’s no question that we should be doing a lot better when you are creating numerous chances on goal. I don’t know if that is a confidence issue or what. For James he is doing lot better than before, I just hope Rutter follows suit.

22 Jan 2024 18:22:26
Remember beer goggles Mid? ?

Think our favourite tipple somewhat clouded your judgement on 2nd half yesterday pal

It was a very tough watch, believe me I was sober ?.

24.) 22 Jan 2024
22 Jan 2024 18:29:40
I suppose my comment is aimed more at the supposedly gulf in " class "OP

And the reason why our club has a higher wage bill than theirs is because we are supposed to have better player

Players who find the way in this league, hence why a lot of them are on over a million a year,

Don't fink there's many at Preston on that wage

And if we ain't giving it for being better players than why are we at all?

25.) 22 Jan 2024
22 Jan 2024 21:11:24
According to the official Orta stats, Leeds have had the most shots on goal in the league so far (2nd most goals) , but only the 12th best conversion rate.

We have 100 more shots than Leicester, but their conversion is far better, nearly a third better.

Creating chances is not our problem…it’s finishing. Whilst a creative midfielder is useful, I’m not sure how it helps Bamford and co get better at hitting the barn door?
