Looks as if JSL has a relegation release clause in his existing contract which allows him to move on in the summer for close to what Wolves paid for him, circa 25million which is why Wolves are so keen to get him out the door over the next week.

Personally don't think he's got as many suitors as is being made out, think its pretty much a 1 horse race at the moment, have a feeling this gets done over the next couple of days as Leeds ready to walk away from the deal.

Saley, I’d disagree totally.

If we want him it’s now, he will have loads after him in the summer.
Newcastle will probably go back in for him, Palace will, Everton have also been mentioned, then there’s European sides that will take a look at him.
I’d say we “over pay “ now or we miss out,
Thing is we do need a 9 now, taking sentiment out of it, Piroe isn’t what we need right now.

Should walk away at 25.

Time for a final take it or leave it offer so we can move on if we don't get a deal while we have time in this window.

If wolves have rejected £33 plus add ons, just walk away.

They need the sale now more than we need the purchase.

Agree MoT totally.

Whatever they say, Wolves need to do a deal now. If they're relegated, they won't be able to ask such a high price as a Champo club, and will need every pound they can get to start rebuilding
If there is a relegation clause in JSL's contract, that would be a further complication they can do without. If we wait til the end of the season there may be more competition for his signature, so if we are to do it, now is the time.

Our negotiators will know (as we do not) how many competitors they have got, and can tailor their offer (s) accordingly. If it's a one horse race they can play hardball, if not they must set a ceiling to what they're prepared to offer, and be prepared to walk away if they are outbid. Personally I think we should offer no more than 35, preferably less, but in 8 days time we'll have our answer.

People saying "over pay" that's absolutely NOT what we should be doing - we've been there, done that and got the tshirt, 30 plus add ons more than a fair offer, Wolves are a distressed seller and they are getting 25m max for him from someone in the summer due to his relegation clause, so they need to come down on their valuation otherwise we walk away and he sees the season out on their bench, its as simple as that.

Personally, for THIS season rather than overpay for JSL I’d rather make an offer for Chris Wood, now well down the order at Florists.

25 Jan 2026 21:23:03
Chris Wood isn't down the pecking order at Forrest he's injured, he's just had a operation.

25 Jan 2026 21:45:05
When will he be fit Class? Recent surgery I believe.

25 Jan 2026 22:27:38
Hadn’t realised he was injured Canada, the actual point I was trying to make is specifically for this season. Certainly until we’re established £30-40 on JSL seems a massive financial gamble and DCL and Namecheck have shown you don’t need to spend silly money to get a fair return.

Just need to get past this season and PSR regulations, whist not unsettling the team spirit, in my humble opinion.
